Delete rescue from the game.

Some main problems are that Rescue can be used by trolls too and GoatofWar is probably asking for a counter to that. Even with the bottom considerations, there may still be a few trolls who would need a kick for being a nuisance. Usually we can't do that at the start of the dungeon, so an immunity effect could be used as a last resort.

We could stop the Titan deaths by requiring the healer to be on ground. We can mitigate Suzaku's middle hole by making Rescue lift the target in the air to actually get the ally to your position. The delay could be removed or greatly minimized so it can actually rescue the target more often.

Anything that follows the player can also be used by trolls. When Euphrosyne was released, there was an alliance that was formed of many FFXIV content creators that ran it blind together and made a contest out of who died the least, which inversely led to players doing things like trying to catch other players in the AoE tankbusters, or running circle AoEs into one another. They were laughing and having a blast because it was one large premade group, but anyone can do that at any time. If someone wants to troll, there are countless ways they can do it. Removing Rescue will not fix that issue. It is not a problem that you can fix. That is the reality of MMOs.

They weren't asking for Rescue to be removed. Just an opt out buff that could come from an enchant or consumable of sorts. But yeah, I get what you mean that there are other ways to troll. I have once noticed someone spam cancel cast the LB to prevent others from using it while also rendering it useless.

While true in spirit, there's something VERY different between those cases. If someone comes at me with an earthshaker, I can run away. If someone Rescues me INTO their earthshaker, I can't. Rescue (or any forced movement effects) rob players of agency. The abilities I hate the most in Frontlines are the pull/push ones. No matter how intelligently I place myself, some enemy tank (or whatever it is) can just pull me over into the middle of their team's deathball and delete me and there's literally NOTHING I can do about it (since the pull seems to work even if you have Guard up most of the time, and even if it didn't, there's no telegraph so you can know to use Guard to block it, just as there's no telegraph on Rescue so a player can know to use Arms Length/Swiftcast/Inner Release to block it)

Whenever you rob other players of agency, it's bad imo. Because normal stuff, people can react to, adjust. Maybe someone IS coming at you with an AOE but you can evade them. Forced movement robs players of that personal agency.

But we're not even arguing for an outright removal. We're arguing for counter measures to prevent being trolled. Giving someone the ability to relocate my character at any given point without any nuance is too much. And frankly, as a tank main rescue annoys the living hell out of me. The game needs to give players an option to opt out one way or another. It works perfectly fine in WoW that way too. You're not going to suddenly not need healers because they can't rescue you. It just gives you the control over whether or not you want to be subject to the rather annoying ability. And you have provided no good counter argument against this.

Arms Length.

I acknowledged that with a previous post if you see a healer jumping off the Titan platform. But if both healers are in it for each other, Arm's Length may not work still. Friends I know of said they were able to successfully get another of our friends into the Suzaku hole still even with Arm's Length. The first healer baits it and the second healer does it again when the buff expires. They didn't do it to a PuG though. Just friends messing with each other.

If you add in an opt out you may as well remove Rescue. The point of the skill is to move a player out of harms way whether or not they know they're in it. If there's a toggle in the settings to auto-stop Rescue, then what is the point in keeping the skill when the healer using it has 0 way of detecting if another player opted out other than burning a two minute skill.

There is no way to opt out and keep the skill so it is either keep or remove.

Wait people use rescue, ever since people cried about rescue and you could get ban using it. I just took it off my hotbar to save time on that if a person dies. It's their fault. Naw I'm not gonna keep something on my hotbar that can = a ban if someone reports me. I don't troll with it either but still not taking the chance. Sorry but im a healer not your nanny or baby sitter you need to adjust to mechanics not me adjusting to your bad positioning XD
