That's why I'm suggesting a system that allows for someone to unsubscribe and keep their house as long as the upkeep gets paid (either by their banked upkeep or some other person paying upkeep on it) for an indefinite period of time. Why are you so blind to that positive?

And you have yet to provide a concrete example (other than emotional based reasoning) where what I am suggesting actually has a negative impact on anyone. If there was an upkeep, there's likely to be threads on this forum that will allow those that seek help to get it. Stop assuming that the average player is completely helpless and won't seek help if they need it. Additionally, if you are so ardent to help people you would be able to cruise the neighborhoods and help pay upkeep so you yourself could help people on your datacenter in those times of need.

This is a mechanic that enables us to help each other when it's needed.

There are plenty of gil sinks in FFXIV that aren't bankrupting people like the repair and teleport costs. Just because it's a gil sink, doesn't mean that it's designed to make the rich less richer, just bleed out a bit of gil from the economy. I see housing upkeep more in line with teleport and repair costs than something like the 25M or 50M mounts. The only way it ever gets to that point is when you start having to pay upkeep across 20-30 properties. Again, your ersatz fixation on making this into some way to bankrupt the rich shows a complete loss of nuance.

It's cause I had an actual stalker that found the thread, followed me around to every single forum, brought it up, and I had to report them into the ground just to have a somewhat normal experience on the forum again and they kept pointing to that thread in every... single... one of their responses. Let's see you deal with that abuse and see how well you like the original idea afterwards.

YoshiP isn't dumb. He's not going to talk just for the sake of talking.

If we're given information that something is going to be happening, then they want us to be talking about it. They're probably looking for our responses and ideas as they finalize how the systems will work.

If we sit here and play dumb because "not enough information", we could end up with another heavily flawed system getting exploited left and right.

Recurring fees won't screw over the land barons. They're earning more than enough gil by actively operating the workshops and garden patches they have access to.

Recurring fees are a deterrent to those who are not using their plot, not a deterrent to those who get rich from having them.

SE would need to address the multiple house ownership separate. Recurring fees won't do anything on that front.

They've paused the timer only for NA at times. They've paused it only for JP at times. They've paused it for all regions at times. You can confirm this by scrolling back through Lodestone notices for the past 6 years.

They do have some control over where at least this one aspect of the game works.

You say that as if I'm not aware of the stakes. I was simply giving credit where it was due. I haven't been shy about my opinions on this idea. I hate it, and I hate the fact that naive and/or desperate players are actively supporting it. I'm pretty sure anyone with half a brain could predict the outcome. But I'm also keeping an open mind, at least somewhat. Anything is possible, even if it's unlikely. Almagnus' ideas are abominations at best, but they were correct in stating that we don't know everything. Still, I'd like to know sooner as opposed to later.
