Personally, I am all for Archers going fistacuffs mode while in close range. I'm just going to put my faith in the SE animation team on this one.
Okay, a few things:
1. There is delay being implemented with AA. So all the ppl saying ranged AA is going to be OP/too much hate/etc. won't really matter since bows would have a larger delay than pretty much anything else in the game.
2. Never ever will AA use MORE ammo than spamming 1. About the same? maybe.
3. 999 a stack, bring 2+ stacks: I don't even run out of that many on a good day of farming NMs.
4. Yes ARC/RNG should not melee, but if I can get more TP & DPS why wouldn't I (outside of AoE heavy enemies)? Oh right, because I'm going to break my hand punching a huge freakin buffalo in the hoof ....
5. Moving around with ranged AA - in a lot of MMOs I've played, AA could be turned off even without totally disengaging, so I do not see why it couldn't be the same way here. Hit 1 to turn it on, again to turn it off ....
6. Even dating way back to good old D&D ranger usually had a choice to make between dual-wield focus or ranged focus. This did not mean he could only do one, was just better at one. You shoot until it gets close, the get out the swords/daggers and poke some holes up close. Even other MMOs carry this concept, so again, I don't see why it couldn't be the same on here. (Yes i realize its "ranger" but its still the same basic concept as archer ....)
Personally I wouldn't mind getting some dual-wield action, but for this game I think it belongs on another class/job. That being said, people will melee because of the added DPS and TP bonus if the current system is kept, but for this game, I think ranged AA would be the way to go, limited ammo or no.
I agree we are a Ranged Class, i don't need ranged AA or even a melee weapon if they at least give us a system that makes sense. Like u said we have no business meleeing in parties and endgame but sadly this game is now heading in a casual, solo direction so archers are getting screwed in the end. Now that Guild Leves are solo based, what i am supposed to do at Dunesfolk for Dinner? punch the dogs till they die? since those mobs run pretty damn fast, doubt any archer will be able to keep 2 dogs at a ranged distance in that leve. This is a serious issue with ranged classes like archer, most MMO realize this, that's why they normally have a sub weapon that's usually meant for close combat.
Like Amas said in her post, id rather have them scrap the armory system so we get a good battle system that makes sense, rather then keep the armory system for a crappy battle system.
Hey guys! We asked Matsui about adding daggers for archers to use when fighting close range. He replied:
You are just going to have to learn how to strike first, strike hard, and give no mercy. ;)Quote:
I completely understand how you all feel, but when considering the nature of the Armoury system and class/job balance, we are not able to implement this.
