Consolidated White Mage 4.0 Feedback Thread

*What is your feedback on said class and what are you looking forward to us changing about said class during the expansion* This type of post should of been created around 3.4 so you would of had players feedback way before the expansion. I don't understand why the Secrecy about abilities.. The secrecy on story makes sense but why secrecy on abilities that are a core mechanic. You honestly leave a bad taste in our mouths even before the expansion is out.

One of WHMs mechanics then becomes keeping these stack up on all players. Plenary now becomes something to upkeep on all targets as well as a huge AOE burst heal that you can dish out constantly.

We were given two mechanics and whiffed on 'em both. The good news is that they could make them cool, though.

I am curious to know who in their right mind thought that these changed to WHM was a good idea. Anyone else wonder if SE even plays their Jobs? If they did, they would see that every single one of the changes made to WHM is a bad call. They removed Stoneskin and added a "new" gated version of it on a CD. They added two new abilities that are gated behind overhealing and RNG procs. And worst of all, they took what little utility WHM actually had and left nothing in return despite WHM players asking for little more than some goddamn utility.

I can just hear Yoshi-P saying "Just calm down" while telling us to wait until we can play WHM before we make a judgment call. There is no need, because we already know what we need to know: WHM is dead. It has literally been gutted and left on the side of the road to die.

Seriously, what happened to balancing out the healers? Now the healers are even farther apart in balancing.

Wait do we have fewer skills than anyone else now? Has that been confirmed?

With Stormblood, WHM has a noticeable ability deficit compared to SCH/AST.

There are perceptible level gaps at levels 6, 34 and 42 where White Mage does not get abilities and the other Healers do. SCH has a gap at 34 but an extra at 38 so it evens out for them, but not for WHM.

I've compiled the data in a Google Docs spreadsheet if it would be helpful for people to see it mapped out:

There is a running count of hotbar-using abilities in the far-right column of each section (Column titled "Hotbar slots used"). I only count consolidated abilities (like Stone I-IV or Malefic I-III) once, and I do not count individual Cards from AST or Pet Abilities from SCH, though the levels at which they are acquired are listed for comparison. SCH/AST "extra" complexity is within Cards/Pets.

What I perceive as the "gaps" are surrounded by a purple double border.

God they hate us don't they

Why have I been reading this and thinking... So these people want another 20% CDR every 9s so every one of their oh shit emergency heals, situational aoes, mp replenishment all arounders can be treated even more like worthless garbage rather than important CDs, all while AFK healing does the bulk then buffs their ability to do their primaty job while they do something else. I wonder if youll ever see a scholar complain that he had to cast physick almost 10 times in a 20 min run... I dont think ive ever done a challenging run and used that little active healing on any of the 3 healers. Somewhat hope if they give your lilies the near guaranteed every 10-15 sec for 3 they revert the changes to the base CDs of your OGCD heals to accomodate its reliability.

WTB boss fight debuffs that drains MP for over healing. Maybe that will get people to realize that MP efficiency =/= how much free time between heals. Might also get me to practice Noct sect more.

WHM is losing Protect, Esuna, Shroud (now Lucid Dreaming), Divine Seal (now Largesse), Cleric Stance and Break (Heavy from Stone). You wouldn't wait to use Assize. You'd use Assize/Benison/Tetra or whatever first then gain lilies during the period they're on cooldown. Lilies take a little time to build and the time between cooldown periods is when you'd build your lily stacks. Because one or more of your oGCDs has been spent already, you're more likely to cast cure I or II for single target heals at that time. When those skills roll back around for their next use, you'll have lilies waiting for them.

This mechanic isn't designed to make you hold onto your cooldowns. It should make you less reluctant to burn them, because you get some personal utility out of your basic heals during the downtime. The effectiveness of this design is going to depend on how often the 4.0 content entices you to burn through oGCD heals and mitigation. With secret of the lily I, II and confessions combined, you actually have a high chance of getting a proc effect from Cure I or II. /theorycraft

It's also worth mentioning that Cure I and II got a potency boost relative to Regen and Medica. Cure II is now as potent as Tetra. I'm certainly eager to try WHM on the 16th and give feedback, for better or for worse after having spent some time with it.
