Apparently it also shares the same pathing that leads to the current residential areas. Someone was able to figure out the address of the Firmament and it has the hou designation in it's path which is only shared by the 4 other housing areas.

So, they finally added a crafting FATE, but it only ever happens a couple times per server? Is it just one FATE or does each step have a different FATE? Kind of a bummer that I'll probably never get to see it for myself.
People form the outside should stay on their frkn server. i hate visitors and i hate people hence i moved to a low pop server. (joke)
I want it to have a Haurchefaunt mural at the top entry in memory of those we have lost. Not just the WoL but the Dragonsong War. Would be fitting. Yoshi-p I expect you to do this. That is all!
This is the largest thread on the topic, and I guess it's a relevant one considering that they apparently initially thought that world visit might possibly be "necessary," so...
I just wanted to say how disappointed I am at how short this content is. Really, guys? You thought world visit might be necessary for content that one of our servers was able to finish in three days?
We have a couple of months to go until 5.2, and all servers will be done quite soon, and mostly without help. This is all you gave us?
I'm not sure if I have ever been more disappointed in this game's dev team. My sub ended yesterday, and I was seriously considering resubbing, but now I hear that Balmung is already done. That's it. 6 non-repeatable FATEs.
Nope. I guess I'll see you guys closer to 5.2. I'd better set my expectations appropriately.
Please keep in mind that Balmung has likely 4-5 times the amount of serious crafters who threw themselves into this for not only the possibility of housing, but also because this is the first bit of content they've really seen that's just for them...also we wanted World First out of sheer spite because of the unjustified abuse we have heaped upon us just because it's an unofficial rp server. We also were helping to push turn ins on other servers in the Crystal datacenter before the wanderer lockout.
Well... I mean it would be nice if the fates kept on, like a random "Firewood is needed to refuel the Braziers" but this is just stage one to get us used to a new gamestyle. We honestly don't know what the next section will take. I understand it's hard to be optimistic with regards to the modern gaming industry, goodness knows I refuse to get my hopes up that SE will see the error of their ways and give us instanced personal housing that can be expanded. Still, in this case it might be better to wait and see the next stage.
Hard to say for sure. Honestly the whole thing is a bit of a mess. Although I didn't miss out on any of the stages, as unspectacular as they were, I'm sad a lot of people missed out on them.
Maybe something like:
Week 1: A lengthy turn in phase
Week 2: Recurring FATEs, all week long, so people don't miss out.
Then, as someone suggested earlier in the thread, on Week 3 you could get a cutscene upon entering the zone and be greeted with the changes. Then the cycle could repeat.
I'm sure there are plenty of ways they could have handled this whole mess better.
FATEs seem like they could have easily been far more recurring and paced out. Perhaps even requiring some kind of token to participate, OR give a debuff upon completion that stops people from participating again for [some period longer than the expected time between FATEs] to guarantee that more people can join in at least once.
I also would have liked to see more calculated quotas than "blindly craft an infinite amount of whatever you feel like" - perhaps something like a levequest system where you report to the counter and choose which of the current requests you can fulfil, with a limit on how many you can take. Gatherers would be assigned to travel out and get supplies, crafters would be given a stack of "specific item materials" like you use for custom deliveries. The Namazu tribe quests showed that they can use generic items and variable dialogue to imply that you're crafting something relevant to your current class.
I wanted to contribute but the sheer amount of expected work was overwhelming. What should I do? What's efficient? I've spent X hours watching my character craft the same item a hundred times; when will it end?
Letting people craft and hand in infinitely makes me feel like I'm not contributing enough if I don't do the same. In my case that's demotivated me; for others it's going to drive them to work equally hard and fast to feel like they've done their share, driving the content to be done at top speed whether we actually enjoy doing it this way or not.
Putting the brakes on it and encouraging more people to give a smaller amount would help the "community feel" they seem to be after. "Contribute to this unfathomably deep stockpile" is daunting but "we need a person to collect 100 logs" is doable. Perhaps even a choice of 100 or 500 or 1000, with or without scaling the rewards so you get a bonus for a bigger contributions.
The lack of a "big picture" of the planned works doesn't help either. Would people have rushed the same way if they knew there were only three stages to complete?
Small servers is going to suffer from lost of world visit now. I know gauge on mine sure going a lot slower and only see third people crafting inside now than when had world visit. Not sure if was such a good plan to end it for restoration. Fates to it should been quests like the Doman Enclave was when reached max.
I'm not picking a fight but you keep talking about all this suffering as if the next patch will drop tomorrow. Is there some hidden bit of info as to why everyone wants to be done with this content so soon? I've been grinding it out on Marlboro on my other character and as far as I see not everyone stays in there to craft. A lot of us are going out to gather and then craft somewhere outside of the place. There's no reason craft inside or at least I always go back to craft at my house and then turn in stuff, gather, repeat I don't understand the big rush.
If this is solely on a world first basis, you may be right. But you have just about 3 months till 5.2, which is the earliest that the next stage of Restoration will be made available (I think they may release it in 5.21 myself). The small servers have time to catch up.
Did every say how many stages there is. I heard each stage takes double what one before it took. I know at stage 3 after turning in 500 collectables I didn't even see gauge budge any. Todays now and gauge is still less than 50%
Haurchefant's situation has been milked enough.
Eh, by the time he came back around to relevance in the story, all I could remember was, "Oh, you're... one of the guys from somewhere in Coerthas... Right?" I mean, obviously he remained part of the story, an important intrinsic part. But the whole time, I kept thinking, "I don't really remember why I should remember this guy..."
Probably yes, it's just that he's a little more distinct, to me. Just something about him triggered a faint memory of, "I know that face.." One of the few times I've actually let my character say "yeah, I totally remember you."
You have like 3 months to get it done. This wasn't suppose to be a race to the finish. What they could have done was wait a while and open the gates to those who were severely struggling later down the line and let people actually enjoy the content.
I would love to help you guys, I didn't even get to do anything because Balmung capped in the middle of the week and I didn't have time.
The damage is done now in some fashion.
Maybe they'll lift it again later. I wanna see the restoration by each step myself. :/
All the other servers are also in their last stage and a lot of them will probably be done after the weekend. So instead of three days it took five. Maybe for the smaller servers it will take a whole week. For a content that will get his next update in months. I am also baffled why they feared that smaller servers wont be able to keep up.
Also since some have posted ideas here is mine:
When you get there you get the notice that a few workers have gone out in the world to gather the mats that are necessary and if you want to help with crafting you can either buy those items from certain NPCs (with quite a bit of gil per item) or you can join those workers outside to gather them yourself. These gathering spots are fates. They will happen all the time in different ARR and HW maps (which might make those maps a bit more alive) and there as a gatherer you have specific tasks to do. And to make it fair you might even be able to catch fish to give the workers something to eat which in turn gives you some mats.
After you get your mats through this you can return to Isghard and craft whats on the list. Depending on what stage it is, this will change and there is also a certain amount that they need with it each items so you cant just craft hundreds of oven. But they will give enough different items so that you will have enough with each crafter and lvl.
These points when you turn them in go into the server wide stages but the stages should be way higher. If a certain point is reached and the person has also crafted a certain amount then a "fate" will be able to spawn. But unlike the one right now, its personal. So if the stage is ready by doing enough as a community and if you have given enough yourself you can speak with a NPC which will teleport you to a special instance. There you can depending on the crafter you are at that moment do certain tasks similiar to the fate right now or they can go and do something different and make this a minigame. So each time you click on something to built it you get a small game with different kind of tasks. Hitting certain buttons for example or having a good reaction time. You dont need to finish each task to be successful but you can if you want. For each one you will get more rewards. And after that is done the zone will change with a cutscene.
So what is the difference: Well until right now where the stages are done once and lost to those that never were there and seeing the zone already built, you will see the zone as it was until you have finished your personal part in this (so kinda like Doma) while the stages and thus the community can already be done with it. They kinda need instances who react to your progress but they have already done that with Doma and with the new pixie tribe so its possible. This way they can also include cutscenes.
The Fates would be left in the open world and can be done all the time. And the "fate" in the city is something personal and maybe something a bit more than just clicking on things.
And if later on housing will be introduced they can make it so that you can still go to the district even though it has not been built by that time and still not hinder people from experiencing that restoration.
Now that the hype has died down, any possibility to revert this change?
Would allow some of us to do Diadem after data center travel.
Yeah, Dynamis is dying off pretty quickly, and once maintenance comes and goes it'll be super dead. I'd like to be able finishing my dol and doh while im on another dc as that's where I'll be spending all my time.
