Yes I did, but I've a seen a lot of rotations so I'm rather confused lol. Didn't know if this one is better than the others I have seen which is why I asked. This sounds like its pretty official since I haven't seen any complaints so I should probably go with this one over the others huh?

I've been using the new 3.0 opener in that first page here and I luke it. But a few night ago I had an accident. That tank pulled when I was raptor form and didn't have time to press te bottom one more time. So I proceded with Twin DM then PB opener posted in the first of the forum. So with that in mind, here's my question, have anyone here actually tried and test this? If opening with Twin snake for that 10% dmg increase.

I would agree with you if we can say for certain that its a nerfed ToD. That's why I asked. If it was then I would agree with you and not do it. But surprise surprise, went into AS3 tonight with a little more skill speed and had no issues keeping GL3 for the first phase transition.

Anyways. I do TS > DK first because someone did the math and said TS > DK is slightly more potent. Anyways, you don't lose TS or DK by doing one before the other, there is no risk so might as well do it. Doesn't really matter in the long scheme of things.

I do Demolish third because I rather have it buffed by GL2 even if its 2 GCDs late (1 & a Half Ticks late). I believe that its still a DPS increase but I'm too lazy to do the math again so I'm gonna just go with my gut for now until someone else says otherwise.

The rotation I posted is pretty normal, move the CDs around as you like (mostly B4B and IR) so that they give you the most bang for your buck.

GL gives a .09% Damage increase and a .05% Ability Haste buff. Pretty sure that's Higher than a .1% Damage buff.

Getting GL3 as soon as possible will always be the best course of action because GL is our single biggest buff. .27% Damage increase and .15% Ability Haste

Nah there's nothing pointless about it. Don't even see how you could say that tbh. Also not sure how having it locked behind meditation stacks is even an issue:

(Wave 1): Nothing
(Wave 2): Purification
(Wave 2 to 3 walk): Meditate x1
(Wave 3): Invigorate
(Wave 3 to 4 walk): Meditate x2
(Wave 4): Nothing
(Wave 4 to 5 walk): Meditate x2 (and we are back up to 5 without issue or having to use meditate within range of damaging something)
(Wave 5): Purification when up, Invigorate when up if you need it (probably do). Meditate x1-2 while walking over to soldiers.
(Wave 6): Meditate x2 After killing gobwalker
(Wave 7): Meditate x1-2 while walking over to Doll. Use Purification and Invigorate as needed.


I find doing purifications, invigorates, and meditations in this order up to this point keeps the overhang of using meditation low and allows both the abilities to be up during key points for your TP.

It is. A 9% damage buff with a 5% speed buff is about 14.7% dps increase overall:

WS that does 100 damage on a 2.5 GCD:
DPS = 100/2.5 = 40

GL1:
DPS = 109/2.375 = 45.895

45.895/40 = 1.147 or 14.7% increase.

By GL3 you are seeing nearly 50% damage increase over your base damage.

Yes, you do. Unless you skip Touch of Death... which is even worse.

Not sure what rotation you guys are doing but I do not drop Dragon Kick or Twin Snakes.

You don't have enough SS right now to be skipping a complete buff rotation like what I think you guys are doing.

Im doing

Snap > Pb > Snap > Demo > TS > DK > Snap > ToD > BS > True > Snap > Dragon Kick > Twin Snakes > Demo


It requires a SS cap we need to meet. But doing Twin > DK is a dps increase.

Twin buff is applied on skill connect rather than damage meaning there's over a second of delay before you start your next GCD. 7 GCDs follow the first Twin for 14+s. 1+14=15s. Twin buff falls off. Unless you have <2s GCD which, by the way, you don't, the buff will fall off.

Roughly accurate GCD Model for Monks. I say roughly as there's a few things that need sorting out, but it's... Good. I'll sort out AA calculations later, as well as converting values to whole numbers.

Sorry if this has been asked before.

I'm on my MNK, my normal rotation is:

Bootshine ->True strike -> Demolish ->Dragon Kick ->Twin Snakes -> Snap punch.

After that:

Bootshine -> True Strike -> Snap punch -> Dragon Kick -> Twin Snakes -> Demolish

Then:

Bootshine -> True Strike -> Snap punch -> Dragon Kick -> Twin Snakes -> Snap punch.

Then, repeat from top.

I've found that by the time the second Bootshine goes off, Demolish would've around 11 secs left. So, I don't do it and go straight to Snap punch and stay for Dragon Kick combo for a Demolish finisher.
The next Bootshine and Dragon Kick combo will finish all of Demolish ticks, thus leaving no dots on except Touch of Death.

My question is:

Is this okay for a rotation? My old rotation was only the first one. That would apply Demolish again at 11 secs. I thought it's sort of a DPS waste since I can sneak in a snap punch in there.

I've yet to get Meditation and Tornado Kick but once I do, I'm planning to get Tornado Kick fit in my rotation with Perfect Balance as in:

GL3 -> Tornado Kick -> Perfect Balance -> GL3.

Therefore, Tornado Kick every 4 minutes.

My question is:

Since Tornado Kick has a CD of 60s, and Perfect Balance has a CD of 240s. Should I plan to use Tornado Kick every time it's up or as I plan to use it? Is it a DPS increase to use Tornado Kick every time it's up (thus losing GL3) rather than just wait for Perfect Balance?

That's 330 potency, with a 27% increase in damage, our highest potency attack also with Dragon kick debuff.

Unless u know for sure ur going to loss GL3 use it. Don't use TK and make part of ur rotation as its a dpS lost. If u lol at the first page of this thred it'll explain to u the rotation.

Tornado kick is almost useless, only use it right before phase changes or if the fight is ending. If you want to do damage with pb refresh your DoTs and debuffs and spam true strike or bootshine.

Fracture is what a lot of use to combat the leftover Demo timer so that you are refreshing Demo on time rather than clipping it by ~5 seconds. There are a number of posts where we discuss it, and there's a section in the OP about it.

Blowing PB every time it's up to do a TK isn't worth the hassle, and it will leave you without PB if you find yourself in a situation where you actually need it. As it stands right now TK is used only for longer mechanic/phase breaks and as a finishing move.

To those who have been wondering if there will be an ability that will add 5 stacks right off the bat.

A: While developing this, there was a discussion about whether it’d be good to have an ability that gives five stacks while not in battle. However, the current damage values were calculated to be able deal damage nicely while in battle, so we are not envisioning battles where you fight against enemies with five stacks off the bat. In the event that we were to make this possible, it would make monk too strong, so we won't be implementing this at the moment.

When esos were introduced I went weapon>belt>earring>body(which i'll be able to get next week)

the order you buy gear in shouldnt be determined by what other people are doing, because you should be tailoring your purchase order to suite your drops from alex as well.
if you get a lot of accuracy gear drops, then replace some accuracy with your eso, and vice versa.

Agreed completely. For example if you're stuck pretty early in Alex Savage with no signs of making huge progress then going after big accuracy pieces doesn't really serve a good purpose next to upgrading something that will boost DPS more.

If you go Eso chest this week your stats will be: acc- 625 crit- 604 det- 489 ss- 588

If you go Alex body and get Eso head: acc- 546 crit- 718 det- 450 ss- 588 you will also have enough eso left over for this week for an accessory, either ear or wrist whichever of the 2 you prefer, this will make up the acc needed to get you through A1S and I think A2S.

As Zamii already stated, go with what best fits your build

I bought weapon, bracelet (upgraded), and this week body (upgraded). Reason being I was hurting for acc. The only drop I've got thus far is the belt from A2S and used tokens to get the earring. Next week I can get the gordian gloves and eso head without worrying about acc. It's all about your drops and upgrading stuff based on accuracy and strength upgrades. Whilst secondaries do hold weight the str and acc are what you should be aiming for based on your current progress.

Don't buy the body if you maxed the bust size on your character, unless you're a taru.

Hey guys, been reading some pages here and I think im strugling with my monk.
Im using:
Baked Pipira Pira HQ
Draconian strength HQ

My ilvl is 193, i have the following gear/class http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/RDCD

On a dummy fight im getting 1250-1300 dps on 3min parsing...a friend said it could be higher and im here to ask opinions of you guys.

Opener-> Couerl form - DM - PB - SP- B4B- SP - IR - DK - TS - Pot- Elixir field- SP - BS- Howling Fist- Steal Peak- True Strike- "chakra punch"- SP
and i resume with normal rotation

I always try to keep up all buffs and dots too.
I used to mantain fracture all the time, but now since Ive switched foods ( I used morel salad before reading this(btw got a dps boost with new crit food) )
I dont have the Skill speed to always do it and I´ve read in the OP that we should only do it if DK has 10s or DM is 4s and ToD has 10+

Right after "chakra punch" you should probably refresh demolisher and not use snap punch, as it should be nearing the 2-3 second timer. You should also fit ToD right after the last snap punch.

At first glance, you're doubling up on the potion and Elixer Field, should move the potion to in between DK - TS, and you don't again with Howling and Steel Peak. That could be a start.

At i192 with i200 chest + Weapon + x1 i210 accessory, 1300 should be obtainable with Food/Pots/Party Buffs. 1300 without them is very hard to achieve, but possible with a lucky RNG run. I think my monk parsed 1298 without any buffs over 4 minutes.

Agreed, without buffs you'd definitely need a good crit run at that ilvl to get 1300, but with food/pot/party buffs 1300+ would be pretty standard, and more in the tune of 1320+.

was this with food and pots? great parse! I'm at 191 as well but can only get 1277 single target on Faust with no food or pots, and not one fracture thrown in. I'm assuming the extra battle litany from the 2nd dragoon could have something to do with that number. Maybe a good 20dps increase, if you stack that with your second internal release

Has anyone figured out the stat weights for Monk 3.0? I know we had the drg stat weights on this thread and the guy who made it said to take it with a grain of salt for monks as he is still working on it. Just working on future bis. With a 630 acc basis depending on crit/det leaning stats. If we can help with data recording for the people who is doing the maths please let us know =)

1330-1350 on Faust sounds right for the item levels listed pending group comps. I pretty regularly get in the 1350 range on Faust. I have a dragoon on my team. Why no food though? I mean even some cheap Black Truffle or something. I can understand saving pots since they are bit pricey, but food can be had for very little for some of the older foods and it'll last you at least 30 minutes or 40 if you run the FC food buff.

At this point with my static being 189+ on average, no need to food or pots on faust. I know its barely a 3 minute fight, but thats just my way of thinking. I must be not rebuffing correctly to be behind +80dps to a similar geared monk. I tend to throw DK 1 gcd after it ends, the same goes for twin snakes. instead of cliping them at 3-4 seconds remaining


I have a dragoon on my team as well, no astrologer. Lost of 80dps is just too much to ignore.

I pot in dungeons. Sometimes food. No excuse, help your group out as much as possible, unless you are just ridiculously poor and can't be bothered to make gil for the sake of combat's benefit.

Besides, that food lasts until the meat of the fight.

You also said you aren't using Fracture. Both Zami and I both showed some pages back how much of a DPS increase that can be alone. I would definitely start trying to work in Fracture if you want to get your DPS up.

Anyway, the point is that neither food or pots are mandatory, but they certainly help and should not be discounted as insubstantial. I get that Drac Pots can be a huge drain on money if you or your FC/friends can't make them. X Pots are very cheap on my server now and are a great way to go if you don't want to spend the premium. Food can be very expensive, but it lasts 30-40 minutes depending on FC buffs and getting older food is very cheap and easy. Static DPS increase just for hitting that button once every 30 to 40 minutes. You seem to be concerned with your DPS enough to comment and ask questions. Leaving out some those two sources of DPS shouldn't be dismissed just because you can get by without. By the same argument you can get by without large amounts of gear. We all want to push farther and excel at our jobs so why not take some easily attainable advantages?
