Just curious:

Are people genuinely unaware there are already Tomestone weapons in the game?

Like, you do the Normal mode 8 man 4th boss (NORMAL mode, and you get this as part of your Normal Raid roulette pretty often anyway when it's new content) 7/later 4 times and spend 500 tomes (used to be 1,000) and you get a weapon. Why do the Relic weapons ALSO need to be Tomestone grinds when we already have the Tomestone weapons that are...Tomestone...grinds? Like, it's redundant, isn't it?

Personally given we have no exploratory zones I have no issues with what we're getting I'd rather not do what we had to do pre exploratory zones. Just busy work running old content wasn't all that fun in my opinion.

I honestly hope the blowback on this relic will get them to give us exploratory zones again.

I hope a new exploratory zone will not have a relic tied to it because bozja was actively made worse by the relics.

What content in this game does a casual player need more than a marketboard (Or even last TIERS marketboard) gear to complete?

Unless you are specifically doing a current ex/savage/ultimate on release then new gear literally means NOTHING.

Yes getting upgrades is nice, and everyone should get them. But rewards come at the cost of putting in effort, a relic should not be practically free.
(Personally i believe the relics should be higher ilvl than savage, they come out 20-30 weeks after... Is it such a bad thing for relics to be BiS for the last quarter of a savage patch cycle?)

Well that was the whole purpose of the exploratory zones they were for relic. This forum hated Eureka and panned Bozja to death. The current forum blowback is childs play to what happened way back when. It's simple amusing to me that people now are saying they are what we should have gotten.

Relative to pre exploratory zones I have nightmares of running Quarn Hard 50 times for an rng drop for relic. If I had to choose between what we got and having to go back to those shenanigan's I'll take what we're getting. It's not clear what the 3rd step is going to be and it may not be what people are expecting just another 1500 tome drop for next stage. I suspect we'll find out with the live letter soon.

Obviously many liked the older relic form and they're entitled to their view. I wouldn't want to do that again and if I had to it would probably just be on my main. This is coming from a person with many alts who ran those exploratory zones to death. 8 marbles and 12 Cerebus and 5 bikes attest to that. I loved the exploratory zones and hope we get them again.

FF 14 is not raid or die, nor is it raid centric, never has been. Id suggest you focus more on your own gameplay, and less on what others do or dont have.

I have enough variable experiences of "run around the map and kill X number of things" gameplay. The moment I stepped in Eureka I knew it wasn't for me. Nor Bozja.

I enjoyed ARR+HW relic though. In that deeply masochistic way you enjoy them, of course.
I am happy with Manderville relic. It's not exciting, interesting? It is boring you say?
Then count me as someone who embraces boredom and hitting myself with a hammer. Like, wholeheartedly.

Dont worry, shb relic was plenty boring too. Because that's what relics have always designed to be.

I would take the pre eureka/bozja grinds in a heartbeat. Yes it was frustrating but it felt actually like an achievement when you finally got it.
With the current easy grind it feels kind of pointless

You already had actual tome weapons that you could have obtained through the style of gameplay you enjoy. Exploratory Zones and their relics did not have to be done away with this expansion for your sake.
