I don't know that I would necessarily qualify "very subjective" as an actual observation of the argument. It's sort of like pointing to the sky and saying "blue" (da ba dee da ba daa).

I try to give most people the benefit of the doubt before deciding to add them to my ignore list myself, only have about a handful of them on this forum, maybe 10 or so. I personally find it tiresome interacting with trolls, never achieves anything worthwhile in the long run from my experience.

Also, I would qualify it as an observation, even as a most basic one. Just found it to be a funny comment on un-synching content when I've found it enjoyable using it help newbies get something like a pretty mount or a shiny weapon, feels good to do something quick and easy to help others get to something they enjoy. I didn't mean any actual harm by my "Very subjective" comment, probably should have expanded on it at the time, tone is hard on the internet for short comments.

And no need to feel sorry, it's a good song in my opinion. :P

They don't say much in the event, to be fair. They acknowledge the Lightning Returns event in the dialogue, but there isn't actually anything unique said to/about Legacy players. In an event supposedly dedicated to them. Everybody gets the exact same lines, the exact same way, unless you did/didn't do the aforementioned event. That has nothing to do with 1.0/2.0.

Which tells you everything you need to know about this game.


There are multiple posts in this thread showing this isn't the case and that they warned people as such. There are even more where people try to twist the words plainly stated by the development and community teams, but that's beside the point. Case in point:





Undersized party toggle is one of the worst things that's ever happened to this game. We discussed it about 15 pages back if you're curious.

And yes, it is somehow worse than even that. Instead of undersizing content, they just threw the item at any lv30+ player that managed the truly spectacular feat of making it through 3 whole FATEs. And, as you yourself noted, it's not a remembrance of or memorial to anything because the game doesn't even bother to tell you of the item's significance or truly even who or what it's related to. It's about as noteworthy as the Cactuar or Bomb Earrings you could pick up for a couple Gil from a vendor to most people.

I assumed the event was to commemorate FFXIV's subsequent death and rebirth. And it's survival until now. I think the event should have showcased what they were really giving out. But i still think its better than leaving them in some old forgotten instance. Here's to next year. Continue to Rise, FF.

1.0 is my life. It’s aesthetic design took me to a place I’ve never been before and can never ever return to. Being in the rising event back in Ul’dah froze my heart with so much pain and heartache, yet I’m so grateful I can still walk through the city and interact with the original npcs. Thank you for maintaining as much as you could from 1.0- 1.23 days. The music, the animations, the emotes, the voices, everything was so beautiful and had such a vividness to it. Even a pebble on a dirt path was mesmerizing. I love what that game was artistically and have never since experienced what emotions it evoked in me. I watch the cutscenes And look through my screen caps when I have the insane courage to do so and then have to stop- it hurts so much. That world as it existed then was where my soul belonged and longs to return. I beg you please, if there is anyway way you can revive even a single server I would, and I imagine thousands of others, would be overjoyed. For me it wasn’t the gameplay or the other players it was the artistic expression. My character became this living breathing person. Her voice option not something I can select anymore. I feel like when she came out of the time field she lost a part of herself in the journey. I’ve been playing 2.0+ this whole time trying to recover it but just can’t. She was my sister. She was the love of my life. Coerthas’ Landscape and the mysterious and haunting beauty of Ishgard castle and the strange, eerie gold-orange lights within it. The way the Fire Drakes’ sides would alight into flame during battle. But especially the radiant, glow of the world- the way the colors lifted out of every surface as if it was the very aether of existence glimmering about through the life and land. It is beyond me to describe or forget. I’m glad the world still remains but I just can’t let go of 1.0’s aesthetic design. Stole my heart forever. Unless someday it’s radiant, blooming colors and saturation can return. I’m not good with loss. I love 2.0+ for it’s own sake but sometimes loath it what it reminds me of. Taunting me with similarities. Ul’dah’s original theme track, all of the nation’s themes. Everything. I just can’t let go. But at least I can still sort of visit. So thank you so much retaining as much as you could. I’m sure you did your best and I’m so thankful. I guess I just selfishly wanted to post that all here. My heart will never love another. Most beautiful place I’ve ever been.

1) There's a distinct lack of the "certain" qualifier here. That is, "certain things should [be respected]"
2) There's a stark contrast between becoming easier and what undersized party toggle does.

These past days I encountered even often than usual concrete examples of why hard earned trophies should not be handed over like this.


In this pre-4.4 era, statics recruitments are all over the place, good time to try to find profiles of players willing to farm Ultimate. Among lots of players I contacted to ask them if they would be interested in farming both Ultimate once Alphascape down, they are many telling me it's not worth it, not worth the time and efforts, that the rewards are not only not good enough, but that they will eventually be handed over anyway.
For some I insisted, and desperately asked to come for sport and adventure, but while they are after that, without decent trophies, it doesn't make the all experience appealing enough.


While I had already answers like this in the past, what's new now, is people quoting me the White Raven incident when I say that we don't know if Ultimate trophies will be handed over later.


No matter since when they're playing FFXIV, the White Raven incident finished to convince players.
I'm getting answers like there are better rewarding and respectful ways to spend their time.
One told me she would not even go even if SE would state clearly that all Ultimate would remain sync forever, that their rewards would not end up in an anniversary event, because she can not trust SE statements any more.
One said he doesn't want to spend time there only to end up bitter the day everything will be handed over.
Etc.


The 3rd Ultimate got cancelled, probably cause not enough players interested by the rewards in comparison of the efforts required, and now instead of solving this by creating more incentives to tackle those fights (better rewards, milestone phases rewards, etc.), SE did the opposite, and it's working, players are sulking the most challenging fights of the entire FINAL FANTASY history, this is such a waste in many ways.

All I'm hearing is that people are after the awards so they can shove them in people's faces. Recognition is nice and all, true, and lord knows I only pay my own sub so I can't force anyone else to play their game however I want, but I certainly think you're in it for the wrong reasons. The hardest content I ever ran in the game was Seph ex pre-SB and Susano-Ex when it was remotely relevant, but I still remember feeling good when I cleared them, so I can relate to some degree. But I didn't put myself through it so people can oooh and aaah at my mounts and weapons.
Honestly, if people are worried no one's going to fall at their feet because of their shiny Ultima weapon, maybe it's a good thing they're looking for other ways to spend their time.

Especially when it comes to the earrings, seeing how until this blew up, chances are the vast majority of the playerbase didn't even know they existed, so even if you shoved them in our faces, all we could've done was shrug.
