See you at launch =D

I'd like to know where all this conjecture about ppl who hardly played 1.0 getting into alpha is coming from. Where is the solid proof? How does anyone know this for sure, except maybe a handful of your friends who got in when you didn't? Which i hate to say is nowhere near an appropriate sample size.
True statement, I dont really care if I get into alpha or beta, I just want to play the game when its finished..
Checked didn't get into Alpha its k my hearts not broken its just Alpha......Walked into work today, coworker comes in " Hey I got my Alpha invite!" (account only active 2 months at launch) So what do I do? Take my 5ft 112lb ass over to him and proceed to bludgeon the Jolly Green Giant into a whimpering mass of piss and tears and a confession of I WAS ONLY KIDDING!
Moral of the story DON'T FUCK WITH MY EMOTIONS! and also they need to release some teaser stuff before we rip each other part. Might not be alot of us left before betta gets here!
Lets just call this the Prior-quitter phase, and wait for the next.... hopefully it will start fast like next week.
I still believe SE wasted those invites on prior-quitters if they did indeed chose them first over others for this phase.
honestly the people Q.Q'ing about not getting in alpha ... well probably shouldn't be there anyways... Alpha is NOT a place to play the game for fun, it's NOT a place to get a jump start feeling for the new game, its NOT a place to go just for game play.. Alpha is a test to stress servers, find bugs/glitchs/exploits and kill them before the game comes out. It is an event designed to better the game. those Q.Q'ing have all said they "deserve" or "should" be in there when the req's where quite simple...
Application Requirements
- Must currently have an active FINAL FANTASY XIV account
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be willing to participate actively and submit bug reports in at least one of the following languages: Japanese, English, French, German
- Must have a PC that meets the minimum system requirements of the game
as well as the invites were probably sent by computer spec/region/availability/ what you picked as your interests on the app's cause lets face it alphas are up in segments normally of 4 hours and at the company digression so unless you have lots of availability you probably didn't get picked as well as if tons of people in that region play and applied your chances probably got cut. very few play in my area so we got lucky, 3 people i know all of which been playing consistently since the orignal alpha in 2010 and beta and the early launch all got in.
that being said, Alpha is suppose to be more like work less like play. If you're Q.Q'ing cause you don't get to "play" alpha.. well you're already wrong >.> and don't deserve to be in it anyways.. HOWEVER the people that did not get in that wanted to generally better the game via heavy feedback on how the gui and systems work as well as the flow of the play and reporting of as many issues(bugs/glitches/exploits) as possible, those people should of gotten in and its a shame they didn't but oh well maybe in the next alpha or 1 of the beta's you will get in. but by all means Q.Q and insult SE more you know since the devs don't read these and definitely don't have the power to throw out your app for future alpha or beta invite.... loler coster
dota anyone? I play a pretty mean Nyx Assasin....
Ain't that just too bad. They did mention though, that they are gonna be inviting people from all over the globe. There were probably more active players in FF XIV than there are slots for the alpha test. It's to be expected that everyone won't get in on this phase, but they will gradually send out more invites as they said. Really not a reason to get all butt hurt. Also, who knows.. they might have added people from the 1.0's alpha that actually gave some good feedback.
For real? Running a game is not some kind of charity. You and the other 66 people that liked your post need to quit dreamin'. Get your heads out of your asses people. Maybe they wanted to use their limited server space to bring in feedback from OH HELL I DON'T KNOW, THE PEOPLE THAT MATTER?
I don't think you should feel rage. I suggest you look into what made you feel that way and correct it.
Honestly... people are complaining and crying about not getting in... Lets take a look...
Square-Enix's fans have been proven to be unable to say when there is a problem with one of their games, they defend it blindly even if its terrible.
You all need to realize this is the ALPHA TEST. Its not about playing the game for SE its about making sure everything works fairly well before the BETA test which is more about playing the game to test features. Alpha tests are a lot of stress testing and making sure that they can find out what can cause server crashes to avoid them in the future.
You won't keep anything from the alpha anyways. It all gets deleted.
Secondly about complaining about letting people who have QUIT in over people who have played since launch. Some did yes but I know a few people that have played from launch until shutdown and got in so it ISN'T just people that quit.
So they invited people that have quit quickly.... big deal. All I see is people saying "We should have been important because we're the fans" I'm sorry to break this to you... the LAST thing that will help SE make this a great game is letting fans give all the feedback.
Think about it from this point of view.. Tanaka disappointed a lot of people when the game was launched, we all know the state it was in. By inviting people that quit early on, not only can they see the changes but they can also give FEEDBACK as to what can help improve the game, something SE fan's aren't really able to do and if you look at the forums, every time someone suggests changes (In both FFXI and FFXIV) half the forum flames them if they say something even somewhat negative, even if its true.
Lets face it, SE fans praise the developer no matter what, it could be the worst thing in the world and the fanboys would mindlessly praise it. But people who are able to call out crap when they see it will give far better feedback and its them that will help the game grow, not a few fans that just want to play the game.
I for one am not bothered at all that I didn't get into the alpha. I'm patient and I have other things I can do with my time. Now I would LOVE to get into the alpha that would make my day getting that email. I am a fan after all. I hope for the beta test personally I can test for my PC and my PS3 if needed, its no problem either way.
I am just waiting patiently for an email. No use complaining about it. :)
Pretty sure people are lying out of their asses about inactive accounts and 1-2 month subscribers getting into alpha, so they can justify their QQ.
I know about 40+ people who got into the alpha and they're all legacy members and have been playing for at least 8 months and some since launch.
You clearly was never in xiv's alpha, beta and release up until this day, your character is a lie and you'd be kidding yourself if you didnt think XIV Fans Complained?
I'd crap my pants if the ratio for compliment to argument was above 1/10.
anywho, I get why people are angry, we have all been paying for this game that admittedly is broke and they dont feel the loyality here, they forget that their loyality doesnt help test, lots of different computers and such do help test.
Loyalty means naff all during testing. It will unlikely get you into anything, you got the $10/month XD.
First world problem.
Well, in JA forum there is also a hot thread crying about alpha invitation.
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/58419
I don't have much time to translate it, but it contains so much rages that CRep posted twice to request people to calm down. Then Yoshi-P posts at #120 to promise that he will say something about it tonight (JST time).
I agree with the OP. It is pretty annoying to see those who logged on a few hours during launch and then never touched the game get an invite. I have already seen on other forums posts like "I got an invite, too bad I'm not gonna play it". What's the point of inviting people like that?
Thats hilarious! The complainers should be punished, not rewarded with alpha spots.
I'm not sure I even know what that means lol.
lol, means you have to beat Dark Souls. If any of these scrubs in here did that instead of pining unvirtuously over nonexistent alpha invites they'd all be better citizens.
So if we QQ more, yoshi will say something :o.
What's that opinion based on?
But it was shit....
I was with you, following along, pretty much through your whole post up to this point.
So, after bashing fans for several paragraphs, calling them blind defenders who will slam anyone who so much as utters one word of criticism at a game... you turn around and declare that you would love an invite, in part, because you're a fan. So, based on the rest of your post, you - by your own say so - shouldn't get an invite.
Are you being deliberately ironic there, or just mind-bogglingly contradictory?
And by the by, your generalizations about "fans being unable to give helpful feedback" is completely unfair.
I consider myself a SE and FFXIV fan, and that's why I would be in there testing. I would be in there providing bug reports and other feedback to help the game improve. Because, as a I fan, I want to see the game be rock solid and ready when it launches.
Are there people who only want invites so they get to "play the game and see the changes early?". Yep. And I suspect they will be the ones in the alpha/beta forums (assuming they have them again) complaining about "lack of content" and "not enough to do", insisting that SE needs to "open up more of the game so they can progress more", and regarding the game like everything they're seeing is "final" - like they did for 1.0 and in other games' alpha/beta tests. No matter how much you explain what Alpha/Beta is for, to some people, it is and will always be "a free trial".
However, I also know that there was a number of people who were providing helpful and useful feedback - as fans - in Alpha/Beta for 1.0, and I have no doubt they'd be doing so again.
So... careful with the generalizations, and use smaller strokes when describing a group of people.
C'mon this is only Alpha. Let them laugh. They may play Alpha for a few weeks now but they can only jump around in Gridania and give their feedback to the game, which is as I hope not too bad -.-'
But as the game finally releases you can laugh at them, because you got legacy and only have to pay 9.99 € and they need to pay the full price and don't have a cool legacy chocobo :D
I hope we can join in Beta, sure - I want to help them testing too but we were not lucky enough.
...2-3 months till Beta :P man I can't wait...
