In all these pages, did anyone notice there's apparently no new battlefield to grind? This already sounds like the best relic series. It's also good for anyone that might even want to do Bozja whether it be for leveling or relics.

The fact that it's so popularized, IDK? I was among those who was mindlessly told when I started the game to play that questline. I gave up quickly after seeing I need to wait for a FATE, and looked up about it online. It's everywhere. People are allowed to love it OFC, but really can't hold a candle to the MSQ for me. It's just a lot of goofing around and not my thing.
I'm just really disappointed in general, my hild has been dead in heavensward for like 3 years, but the worst thing about having to put up with this boring questline is after that have to grind for ridiculous weapons, I love collecting relic weapons I just hope they at least aren't '' haha funny'', and just something nice like most of them.
I hope hildy weapons are from the weapon design contest because those looked amazing.
Not for everyone but honestly for me its a plus that there might not be an instanced area this time. Does it mean that the relic will be 100% better than the Eureka and Bozja one? No. They could still mess it up. But at least there is now a bigger chance of being able to achieve the weapon through a variety of content. Of course if you love Eureka and Bozja this could be a downgrade (but we still dont even know what we will have to do) but there are more groups of players in this game and I think its quite fine if another group now gets their "dream" relic questlines.
Also this thread really just shows how some are just here for the sake of complaining. I really disliked Eureka, Diadem and many other contents over the years and have complained about them here. But at least I waited until we got enough information (like the no male bunny thing) or until I played the content myself. Coming in here and already hating on it for things that we have no idea about (how serious it will be, how the weapons will look, how there is seemingly no worldbuilding...) is not being constructive.
I'm just confused at "the best relic series", since so far we got 4 series, 2 without a battlefield and 2 with. So how does the new one having none make it automatically better than the other 2 that also have none?
On the other hand, the older relics had such a grind that people complained about it for so many years that they decreased it in the end. But I also know that some people complained about the last ones not beign grindy enough for them.
For me personally there's no better or worse just based on special area vs no special area (conversely, resistance ones unlike eureka have a special area bt grind has more options than that, so it's kinda hybrid), gotta see how the whole process unfolds. For sure if they tell me run LotA sync a few thousands times I'm out, for example.
Honestly it just sucks for me. Now I have to put up with 2-3 hours of skipping boring ass cutscenes with a poker face of this god awful unfunny questline just to get a relic weapon? Great game design btw.
I have read the views made by lackluster story writers guild on the forum and I think Hildebrand is no good for the relic. The weakness is the story. Good stories have suspense and drama like a Game of the Thrones and Heavensward. People do not like Hildebrand because they make it too much like slice of life anime when it needs dark fantasy genre.
Hildebrand feels weak because of many death fake outs. Every time Nashu hits with explosion, you think is this it at last? But no he is still alive. The other problem is the story bias. Hildebrand is the gentleman of light. What about the gentleman of dark? We only hear one bias view because of bad localization of french story to japanese.
I am also mad about a video clip I see. Hildebrand fires missle at the earth to genocide the people. But Nashu does not question this. I can not support a viewpoint that is evil unless it is done in dark fantasy story like Cersei.
We must take back story. Players must now rewrite the Hildebrand story to change the direction and make it good again like it was when Maehiro was writer.
Honestly my biggest worry now is that future Hildebrand quests in later expansions could end up stuck behind a relic grind. Hopefully it just branches off and I can ignore it when the grind wears out its welcome.
Story enjoyment is kind of subjective which I think is causing the issue here. I really liked getting the resolution to Eureka for example as it was just a dangling plot thread from ARR.
I think that is part of my issue, I know several people who will be heart-broken if this isn't Hildibrand styled story as nothing really indicates it won't be that and while I personally am not a huge fan of that I do question if that style of quest and story telling can carry a grind fest like a relic.
I wanted something like Bozja and Eureka to be honest. But I like Hildebrand so I don’t mind.
It will likely branch off and unlock another separate quest line the way a lot of content does (same as how MSQ will unlock a massive amount of + quests that you're not forced to do). You probably wont need to do the Relic to do the future Hildebrand quests and there will just be a new NPC with a + mark over their head if you choose not to do the relic. I believe the relic is just going to be Hildebrand adjacent / just an unlock requirement. Only Godbert really got mentioned since hes a master goldsmith. We might see Hildebrand since he's his son but I doubt he's directly related the way his father is.
didn't the weapon design contest have 2 winners each ? like 1 serious 1 joke weapon ? cause if so that could actually work out quite well.
start the story, do a quest or two, get handed a set of knife and fork and wonder where you went wrong in life. do another 2-3 quests and let gerold+godberd reforge the shit out of it and hand you an awesome pair of daggers. now i'm not 100% sure how much all of these weapons lend themselves to getting different kind of "glow/aura upgrades" so that could be a problem, but as long as they can find "aura designs" that work well with that this would actually a pretty good idea on how to implement both sets of winners in a way that makes canonical sense.
Because yoshi is a troll. And hate the players. So it go like "you demanding more of this quest we was clear we don't want to do? Here have it but now all forced to play it". Same for islands thingy. Like they give each player a map that is bigger that any houses plot? But they say they can't just add more there? What it's at this point if not trolling.
I'm looking at the progression over the years. I've worked on each one, though I've only ever finished all of ShB and one HW. I see them learning from past series. It's still a grind, but it's not as painful as the last. They make it more accessible each time. I don't doubt there will be FATEs and raids involved, but they probably won't be a specific FATE or a savage raid. One might have to go through Bozja though. It seems like they want to keep that relevant for some time and not have it end up like Diadem.
Manderville stuff is juvenile garbage, fortunately I have done it all already, skipped every possible cutscene and muted the few that I couldn't will skip everything about this
How to say you're a boring person without using the word. :D
It feels like this thread is like a signal light for reapers/dark knight mains with how many "ughhhhh hildabrand so bad. unfunny" because you all just be lookin like edgelords. Id actually worry about you all getting exposed to the hildabrand cutscenes but your early 2000s emo haircut will probably keep most of it away from you.
Nah. I think the real 'edgelords' are those who can't grasp the idea of personal tastes, cultural differences and that not everything is about black or white morality.
To say nothing of the bizarre personal attacks the moment someone suggests that maybe they just don't like a particular thing that is deliberately designed to be as over the top as possible.
Though this game's community has always had a portion of very strange individuals who feel compelled to attack people for liking or disliking the 'wrong' characters.
Some people disliked Eureka, some liked Eureka. Some people disliked Bozja, some liked Bozja. Some people dislike Hildibrand, others like Hildibrand. Relics aren't even out yet but if the quests bother you that much then either don't do them or skip them.
Though it did seem to be an odd choice for relics. A relic questline is being divisive? Must be a day that ends with y.
The problem is more that people are complaining about a simple questline you can get done in less than a day if you cutscene skip, and causing a huge fuss over what is to many a non-issue BECAUSE it's that quick to get through. Hell, it's faster than getting through Ivalice if you cutscene skip. People are raging and acting like this is the end of the world when IT'S NOT THAT SERIOUS. Just skip the cutscenes if you don't like the story and bumrush to the end. Spend a few hours today, or hell, do 1-2 quests a day, you'll still be done before it comes out. Speaking of which, it comes out IN OCTOBER. You have more than 2 months to do this.
I started playing in mid-late Heavensward, didn't see a point to grinding out a relic because at that point it was faster to go for a Shire weapon.
In Stormblood, I was excited to try when it was current, but then it was locked in Eureka. I didn't like Eureka, so I shrugged and didn't bother.
In Shadowbringers, I was excited to try again, but then it was locked at least partly behind Bozja. I didn't like Bozja, so I shrugged and didn't bother.
Now it'll be locked at least partly behind Hildebrand. If you don't like Hildebrand.....
It has absolutely nothing to do with "attacking people". I know not everyone is going to enjoy Hildibrand. This game has a variety of things for different people to enjoy. I enjoy doing content in general but dislike fishing; some people play this game only FOR the fishing, and that's cool!
The problem is people are making a HUGE fuss about quests that you can skip all the cutscenes and unsync the trials involved and pretty much ignore everything, taking no more then a few hours of your time. You also have some months to do this. Take a little bit of a break from your g-posing and club hopping and do a quest or two of it a day, then come back to it the next day and repeat until you're done.
Also... These are relic weapons, there's always something somewhere that you will find annoying.
Hmm now that i think about, gonna hammer a guess that the silly weapon designs we had a short while ago, might end up being a step or 2 for this relic.
Hildibrand for relic is just... not good. My issues with it holistically:
1) I don't like the idea of forcing every end-game player to go through the worst written and most bigoted quest in ffxiv(Specifically Heavensward Hildibrand, not Hildibrand as a whole)
2) It's bad form to make new players go through four expansions of an optional sidequest to access progression content.
My personal issue aside from the above is that I'm pretty confident this means we're getting gaudy, hideous weapons because gaudy and exaggerated is what Manderville stands for. But meh, that's not a big deal - I can just glam over it. Also... I think it's a real shame to not leverage ANY of the fascinating expert craftspeople we have in Endwalker that are story relevant who have unique and amazing visual styles for this.
I need to cut you off right there because there's something people seem to forget about relics. They're not actually end-game. They're always a step behind savage weaponry.
Also, no one's being forced. It's just a flashy weapon... generally the flashiest... It only offers an advantage in running older content or leveling up in dungeons for the next level cap. They don't have to be done at all.
Ultimates are always current content.
Also yes. If I didn't clear by then I definitely intend on using whatever stat boost, no matter how small, which can help me to clear both EW Ultimates and that includes relic weapons.
Not only that but DSR was originally planned for 5.5 so many people did farm the Resistance weapons in anticipation for that.
And people will farm the Manderville weapons because it will eventually become BiS for DSR, but also the 6.3 ultimate and probably any previous ultimate.
If that's the case, then you're not the endgame player I'm thinking of when I see endgame mentioned. You're more of a casual.
Either way, I'm not wrong because my point was you don't actually "need" these weapons.
If you have time to argue semantics, you have time for Hildi.
I think both your definitions of "casual" and "not needed" are huge stretches.
This is rich coming from someone who is so desperate to be right that you stretch the definition of casual to "anyone not clearing DSR immediatly after its release". When all I said was the apparently groundbreaking fact that relics are not just cosmetic for dedicated endgame players.Quote:
