So, are you just going to ask people now what kind of content there is in the game because you not only fail at finding people to play with but also at finding content to play and/or enjoy? I've listed quite a bit of content already, you can simply log into the game and see what you stumble over yourself...

At this point I kinda want to ask YOU: Why are you even playing?
Because if its because you hope that 1.0 will come back, let me crush that hope right now: It wont and for good reasons.

The game wont change and if you dont enjoy what you get here you can either change your attitude and your expectations (NOT expecting this to be(come) 1.0 would be a good start!) - or find a different game you enjoy. Why bother wasting time and money on something you obviously dont like only to tell people who do like it that they're wrong for doing so?

What do you get out of this game besides the masochistic feeling of "this was all better in 1.0!!!"?

Honestly I think this is the best compromise, especially since it would help flesh out some of the characters that got shoved to the wayside in 2.0 onwards. Though I'd just outright give them to us and allow us to go back and watch them without any hassle.

Except it isn't the main reason why people don't raid. The overwhelming reason why people don't raid - especially on NA - is simply "I don't wanna". That reasoning has little to do with the "social aspect" of raiding. Other common reasons are “Raids are full of tOxIc eLiTiSts” and “It’s too hard”. Or “the rewards aren’t worth it because the gear is obsolete in a few months” (this one is also really common). Rarely do I ever see people cite “I don’t raid because I cannot raid with my friends” or “because raid groups are limited to only 8 players”.

All of my friends I have that don't raid don't simply because they don't want to; they don't enjoy the content or they simply don't want to invest time into it—how much time it takes to clear is irrelevant; they would rather spend their time doing other things, which is fine. I get that. Not because they can't raid with me.

I have other friends that raid that aren't in my static, but that doesn't hinder us. We still do plenty of other things together in-game and talk frequently on Discord. It helps that many of us are different in terms of the types of progression and goals we have - some of my friends don't mind a more casual raid schedule of a couple nights a week where as I would prefer one with more nights and more hours; some don’t really want to min-max where as I do. We have expressed desires to raid together, but a lot of us are at different points in progression, and, again, have different goals. You don’t make a static with players who have varying goals; it will never work out in the end, because someone will have to give on what they want.

Being unable to raid with my friends has never stopped me from raiding, nor has it ever stopped them. And now I have a static that are my friends.

The "social aspect" is a very small reason why players don't raid in this game. Any argument on this forum about why players don't do Savage would show you that.

EDIT: Also, if you think I disregard the social aspects of raiding, I would invite you to listen to my static’s raid chat sometime. Considering the amount of memeing on each other we do, I would hardly call us a non-social group.

This is the same OP who plays on a private FFXI server and have tried in the past to advertise for it here on the OF, honestly, we shouldn't pay them any mind as they're just trying to shill for a game that only a select group of people care about playing anymore.

Interestingly, it is actually more or less correct that 95% of the players have unsubbed. SE claims FFXIV has 14 mio players, but we know there are only around 600k active players.

When 95% of 14 mio players unsub, there are 700k left.

Of course, that's still way more than what 1.X ended up with ;)

Well then, if it's true then that's great news considering we still have enough for a healthy amount of people playing the game and FF14 is still only 2nd to WoW in terms of amount of active players. I imagine this 95% is across the board with almost all MMO's considering the status quo has remained relatively unchanged. Puts a bit of a dampener on Shan's point anyway, 700k active players is way more than the figure Shan gave on 1.0's total sales.

FFXIV 1.0 sold 600k copies it was because SE stop selling it after the game released for one or two months? in 2010.
not because 1.2x contents are bad, there were a lot of return players during 1.2 period,

If 1.2x wasn't great, you won't get so much hype about 2.0,
In fact, it was our 1.2x players, hype it up before 2.0 release
that's why you saw so many people joined 2.0 alhpa & beta, & people had so much passion on a new game

Yes, 2.0 graphics，UI，QoL changes are wonderful, no one denies that.
and ARR gaming experience is great at the beginning.

And because the 1.2x experience, I was a white knight too when 2.0 just released,
why I had to defend 2.0? here's a little story: it's because a guy in my FC, he's a XI player,
because 1.2x leave him a good impression too, he bought 4 ARR copies(that's why ARR sold a lot lol..) & gave them to his XI friends(his friends tried 1.0 & quit),
if 1.2x isn't good, he won't do that.

After 2.0 just released, he was hanging around in the game,
he run to Mor Dhona & check the tomestone vendors when he was only level 1,
after 1 or 2 days, he said: "ARR is a WOW clone". my reaction was:"WHAT? THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE, 1.2x contents are enjoyable, SE has no reason to do this."
& time had proved he's right. He & his XI friends quit ARR after one month & never comeback,
for these people, 2.0 is worse than 1.2x, it no longer has any chance

You see? many rumors you heard are wrong (1.0 sucks =/= 1.23 sucks) , it's just like 2.0, many contents in 2.0 had been done wrong,
SE just fired XV director you know? Too many things are wrong now....
