Tank dps harrasment

"If OP doesn't want to be discriminated against because of his fflogs rankings, he needs to git gud and improve them."

The bluntness and naked honesty of this comment of mine is setting off a lot of people, so let me restate it in a more politically correct manner:

OP doesn't want to get kicked from high end duties just because he has low DPS. He can feel that way, but the world isn't going to change for him. The only way he won't continue to run into this problem is to try to improve himself. His attitude of merely lamenting about the problem and burying his head in the sand isn't going to do him any favors.

The reason they don't is it wouldn't have any impact. Anyone willing to publicly attack you over FFlogs will just assume you're hiding them because "you suck." Those who don't necessarily care, or at least won't verbalize it, won't say anything either way.

True but it's one less thing to worry about. This way you can just shrug and go "yeah, I suck" XP

Your point's good and a valid one, but I still don't like the idea of some group of people uploading my data without my knowledge. Not merely because of what the stats might say (and even that would often be misrepresentative), but because it's really none of their darned business.

its not for the reason this thread exists. People WANT to look you up to see if you are up to snuff, instead of asking you if it is ok out right.

and due to the "don't ask don't tell" of parser/ parser data you can't add "we check parse/fflogs" to pf. Imo doing so is vote kick abuse. If the person is on ps4 they can't parse and load their numbers. they are only loaded by other people. Which imo should go against the fflog creed/rules. you can oly post you logs not someone elses.

i play on ps4 and im on it. but found the site confusing and only found 2 cases i was parsed. 1 where im green 1 where im dark blue. no idea what either means.

FFlogs will always be a cancer on this community if only because people use it primarily for being big-headed, when the entire point is improvement. FFlogs lets you see the entire fight down to the literal GCD and rotations of you and your members, so it lets people who weren't present for the fight critique your rotation or your up-time.

In the end though, the average person will just use it to put people down or brag about how great their numbers are. I will always agree that FFlogs does far more harm than good.

The fact is stated above. I don't want my data uploaded without my knowledge. If you want to see if I'm up to snuff, run with me. You need more than just numbers after all. Group chemistry is also a thing, and parsers don't reflect that. But I am a team player and build my parties as such. Which is why I largely run high-end content with my FC only because we have built a team that not only can put out numbers but know how to work together (esp in ways I never thought possible). I've always been for parsing for personal benefit (esp since PS4 players can't), but its more than that in most content; which is why this post exists in the first place since not everyone understands that.

It's subjective. People who use it right will use it the way it supposed to, analyze and compare to others damage and then self improve. If people don't want their logs uploaded, you simply just hide it. And again if people do find out later you are a bad player, should we be obligated to lower our skill to yours then never get a clear or a 13 min farm shinryu? Or even worse when we just flat out carry you, which in most cases most wont do and it's their own rule of party to do so, to kick you for underperforming.

Also why is it that TANKS outdps some dpses in roulettes or healers do it too? Like if you are a dps, isnt your job to do more than those 2 jobs? Or you simply saying a dps job is slack?

It's not new. It started in ARR when people first realized, "Hey, I don't need to heal/mitigate/build enmity when it's not needed, maybe I should dps instead." I guess more and more people are slowly figuring it out (2 expansions later lel) but the reason it's causing so much drama is that many players in this game's community seem to want to set the bar so low you can step over it. Even if you merely suggest to the average player that they can improve somewhat, they grab their pitchforks and torches and cry, "Elitist!" While people are right that tank/healer dps isn't needed to clear most content, there's also little to no reason not to have it either. As I said earlier, if people know the instance and their class, there's just no reason not to dps.
