From what I know you toggle Gauss Barrel off after you're done with your opener for the next 7 seconds or so before turning it on again (since Gauss Round will be off CD at this point and you need to reapply Lead Shot).
After that, you try to turn whenever you're personally comfortagble with turning it of but general rule of thumb should be as follows:
1. Are your OGCD abilities that deal damage (Ricochet, Gauss Round, Blank, Head Graze/Suppresive Fire) on CD?
If yes, turn GB off.
If no, turn GB on and use them if GB is not already active
2. Do you need to reapply Lead Shot?
Yes: Turn GB on
No: Turn GB off and if GB is not active then leave it at thatuntil a OGCD comes up for use or you need to reapply Lead Shot again
Usually you'll end up with being without GB for~ 5-7 seconds depending on how your CD's are aligning when you turn it off, so I personally am not really sure it actually makes sense to stance dance but I'm still doing it.
Do note, as weapon damage and side stats increase, stance dancing gets worse due to scaling.
I'm fairly positive that increased weapon damage will not make stance dancing worse.
Secondary stats will though, but it would take quite a bit of them. your GCD needs to be about 2.22 or so for stance dancing to yield no benefit. I'm not sure how much det or Crit are needed to make stance dancing meaningless.

I mean, I guess it depends on whether you mean overall dps or dps throughout the entire parse? idk, I wasn't trying to brag or whatever, I was just saying that a currently geared mch should be doing significantly more than 900 on a dummy. Like, if you're i180 or above and you're pulling in the low 900s on a 3:40 parse there is stuff you're doing wrong that you can fix. Sorry if it seemed like I was trying to show off, I guess?
Do people not do that? That actually makes sense, my bad lol. If you're curious my parse claims it was about 10 dps in this video so w/e.
