Not sure! I haven't had time to watch it in a while, I really should get back to it haha!
I loved the 24hr gym tag Q_Q lol

Hmm, makes me wonder about 3 things./whiteknight on
- Who got Abri started up again... I mean I've followed and enjoyed his posts pre Nov 26, but a lot after that have been, well ... no comment beyond "no comment"
- If the people championing the "SE screwed up by inviting non-actives without asking our permission" posts would still have supported "the cause" if we would have been in that round of alpha invites.
- Do you think the community reps or devs decided to yank people's alpha/beta apps based on forum behavior post Nov 26?
I mean, really? Sure it could have been handled better, but the company really shouldn't NEED to ask our OK when they decided to make a change that they feel is best for the progress of the game development.
They did what they thought was best, I think that recently they have at least earned the benefit of the doubt.
Abriael is a war machine - if you like what he says you love and lap it up. And if you dont.. you really hate it.
Thats my take on that lol.
And thanks for that quote, I mean I've seen it before but I missed the part where it actually says they disregarded their own requirements in the application.. lol So.. yeah they know what they did, they wanted to do it XD.
Now back to whats important...
Where is my invite...? lol :D
I am crying no invite yet, its 1255 pm in Japan maybe some will still come to us :~(
Spectre, I would like to see this SE post/topic about inviting non actives where the dev. asking our permission?
Got my fix. Happy now. CHEER CHEER CHEER.CNA't say anything more but. well choice of 2 and 3 means it's def n alpha. YEt they worked their butts off.
Can't wait to see the rest of the world. Come on beta
;____________;
More flustered about EN_FFXIV Twitter not keeping up to date, unlike JP_FFXIV posting info on alpha. They had all day today to post something/translate.
I knew we'd be hearing from Abby again. lol I mean, a new wave of alpha! Come on! The only way we wouldn't hear from him again is if he actually got an alpha invite. So, I was predicting his QQing like I forecasted the sunrise. lol
Of course not. Much like others bashing SE's handling of alpha, he is of the opinion that "If I didn't get an invite, SE is doin it wrong".
Probably so. And if they did, there's no WAY I'm getting an invite! I shut down an entire thread making fun of people QQing over not having an invite. SE probably has me written on the naughty list in permanent ink. XD
Nah, according to Abby, the people who have been handling this sort of thing for years and years are the ones who don't know what they're doing. It's the fans who are butthurt over no alpha invites that are the experts.
I know, I didn't get an alpha invite either, and I'm not butthurt over it. But that's because I'm doing it wrong. lol
Blah, I know two people who got in now, but not I. :x Oh well.
i equip gear - evasion 250... why it still miss...
orz
So has it been confirmed more invites are heading out tomorrow?
It's OK if I didn't make it through, it's the devs telling me don't go in yet, we are not ready for you!
The people that went in before haven't prepared the new Eorzea with subligars on every corner. The world is not appropriate for subligar king candidate such as myself to walk in. Yellow brick road? No thanks, I only walk on subligar road, devs know this and working hard to make it happen.
Yep that must be it.... at least that's what the twelve told me... in my dream...
Alpha is not a big deal anyway, most people are just bored and don't know how to waste their time (just look at the forums)
切腹 = seppuku, ritual suicide
腹切り = harakiri, "stomach cutting"
As my teacher explained it, when the Americans were translating this for the first time, the just took the 2 kanji and read them as if they were written as 2 words (the reading changes when 2 or more kanji are written together), so they read it as "harakiri" instead of "seppuku". Don't ask me how they managed to swap the kanji order, it's what I've been told. Fact is, no one corrected them (maybe they thought it was rude, maybe people didn't listen or maybe they were laughing about foreigners being too dumb to read), so it is now a legitimate word in English, but doesn't have a special meaning in Japanese (contrary to seppuku). There is a similar story about "kamikaze" too, but I don't remember what the correct reading was...
/JP trivia
I'm surprised Reinheart hasn't gotten an invite to alpha after translating all those JP post to EN.
It's a good thing there wasn't any priority for anyone. There's no reason for there to be priority either.
I don't have an invite yet, and that's fine. I really want to try it out and contribute to making the game awesome, but I'm not entitled or anything; everybody has their own same chance of getting in.
I hadn't heard that before. What I do know is that a typical alternate construction for nouns is to take an action, i.e. 腹を切る, omit the particle, and replace the verb with its stem; hence, 腹切り. For example, 「旅立ち」. Although this usually causes the first syllable on the verb stem to become voiced. As in, "tabidachi", as opposed to "tabitachi". Why "harakiri" would remain unchanged is beyond me.
yeah, that! they read the kanji as 2 separate words instead of one again, resulting in "kamikaze" instead of "shinpuu" :p
You mean it should have been "haragiri" in this case? Remember, it was a mistake by non-Japanese, so they probably disregarded that rule too.
As for 2 or more kanji changing their reading, it's somehow based on on- and kun-yomi, but I don't know how exactly it works.
This community has been reduced to arguing about whether or not a certain form is a valid way of saying suicide via stomach skewer. Keep on rollin' internet.
Its vaild :P, we gots it in the dictionary and everyone knows what it means... lol. Thats all it takes to be legit XD
It'd be like the Chinese telling the Japanese they are saying it wrong.. (because the Japanese took their Alphabet from the Chinese). At least we are using a word that is still legitimate in Japanese ("stomach cutting" which pretty much means death anyways lol).
all right whose ready for round 3 tomorrow?
My body is ready.
