I mean, really? Sure it could have been handled better, but the company really shouldn't NEED to ask our OK when they decided to make a change that they feel is best for the progress of the game development.

To be fair, as a long time ffxi vet (and still playing) ffxiv has been much better about keeping us updated. I have great appreciation for the community rep team

Of course not. Much like others bashing SE's handling of alpha, he is of the opinion that "If I didn't get an invite, SE is doin it wrong".

Probably so. And if they did, there's no WAY I'm getting an invite! I shut down an entire thread making fun of people QQing over not having an invite. SE probably has me written on the naughty list in permanent ink. XD

Nah, according to Abby, the people who have been handling this sort of thing for years and years are the ones who don't know what they're doing. It's the fans who are butthurt over no alpha invites that are the experts.

I know, I didn't get an alpha invite either, and I'm not butthurt over it. But that's because I'm doing it wrong. lol

Blah, I know two people who got in now, but not I. :x Oh well.

It has been CONFIRMED (I promise) that you, as in everyone else, will receive an e-mail when they confirm YOU are accepted into Alpha. In the mean time, read a book, go outside, etc.

I'm pretty sure they said this was based on logins though. As in they will look at the number of people playing and then go from there as far as more invites are concerned..

Actually, it was said they are creating a new server this week and sending another wave of invites. Then after that they will be inviting in the manner you explained.

The people that went in before haven't prepared the new Eorzea with subligars on every corner. The world is not appropriate for subligar king candidate such as myself to walk in. Yellow brick road? No thanks, I only walk on subligar road, devs know this and working hard to make it happen.

Alpha is not a big deal anyway, most people are just bored and don't know how to waste their time (just look at the forums)

It's a good thing there wasn't any priority for anyone. There's no reason for there to be priority either.

I don't have an invite yet, and that's fine. I really want to try it out and contribute to making the game awesome, but I'm not entitled or anything; everybody has their own same chance of getting in.

I hadn't heard that before. What I do know is that a typical alternate construction for nouns is to take an action, i.e. 腹を切る, omit the particle, and replace the verb with its stem; hence, 腹切り. For example, 「旅立ち」. Although this usually causes the first syllable on the verb stem to become voiced. As in, "tabidachi", as opposed to "tabitachi". Why "harakiri" would remain unchanged is beyond me.

You mean it should have been "haragiri" in this case? Remember, it was a mistake by non-Japanese, so they probably disregarded that rule too.

As for 2 or more kanji changing their reading, it's somehow based on on- and kun-yomi, but I don't know how exactly it works.

This community has been reduced to arguing about whether or not a certain form is a valid way of saying suicide via stomach skewer. Keep on rollin' internet.

It'd be like the Chinese telling the Japanese they are saying it wrong.. (because the Japanese took their Alphabet from the Chinese). At least we are using a word that is still legitimate in Japanese ("stomach cutting" which pretty much means death anyways lol).
