Been reporting the people for months and they're still out there doing it , same people, same smut. The gms aren't lifting a finger.

Yikes you really missed the mark with that one. Nobody is trying to shut down any venues, anywhere. Feel free to read the op and comments. I've never reported a party finder advertising a venue of any kind, nor have I claimed to. Infact, this thread isn't even about pf listings being a problem, and the only issue mentioned about pf ads in this thread is by people talking about duplicate ads for the same venue. Nobody is trying to prevent players from interacting with venues, or telling them not to. The tos violations are very clearly spelled out , in regards to what I've mentioned. Feel free to read over the prohibited actions and the user agreement to confirm this. The only reason they're able to get away with it is because the GMs are allowed to use a certain level of "discretion" in their decisions. It's already a well known fact that there's tons of groomers etc in XIV, in the venue scene confirmed many times over from people who are on that scene, or used to be. FFXIV is not intended for adults, its intended for people aged 13+. You want to talk about advertising, ok. These venues straight up advertise prostitution, publicly, in shout chat. They server hop, and city hop, shouting the same thing with a macro. That would be the equivalent of a brothel advertisement interrupting the 6 o'clock news, not the signs on the side of the road that say "girls girls girls". So your comparison for advertisements and party finders is way off. The venues themselves and their activities don't bother me at all , idc what people do in their private spaces etc. But advertising smut in public places where there are children is not acceptable. There's no defending it. Does fox kids have random prostitution commercials during the commerical breaks? Or the news? Or literally anywhere? No, because common sense.
I mean the Lucky 7s original host(idk if he is anymore) was stated to be messing with a 14 year old, the all girls Discord had a situation where a 14 was stated to be groomed by multiple girls, and when asked they all got hella hostile.
It also doesn't help that people within the XIV community are so passive that they'd see it happening and turn a blind eye for fear of having to be involved over you know, getting rid of the creepers, But here we are.
It's amusing how quickly the thread devolved into throwing baseless accusations against anyone and everyone including the GMs.
Yeah, it's pretty easy for a kid to make a discord acct then join a public server. There's no age verification process. Another reason that these smut venues shouldn't be linking their discords in shout chat alongside the prostitution advertisements, but what do I know about the curiousity of children.
Right, you're not implicating anything here.Quote:
It's almost like the GMs want children to go to these places to become prey for the online predators that infest the venue scene. Makes you wonder who the GMs are if they allow advertising this stuff to children, and assist the people who do advertise it by allowing them to violate the prohibited behaviors/user agreement
If they're openly advertising explicit "smut", then please report it. Not sure where you're hanging out that you see such things all the time but I can only recall seeing something that blatant once (and immediately reported it).
Most of the time they're using vague language without any explicit or specific references. Will an adult understand what they mean? Usually. Will a child understand? Not unless their parent has already allowed them access to explicit content, in which case seeing it in game isn't going to cause them anymore harm than has already been done to the child.
Groomers are a different subject. Are there groomers in game? Sure, they're in just about every online space. That's why parents should take more interest in their children's online activities.
Are there "tons" of groomers in game? Give me a break. One is two too many but its not the massive number you claim.
Trying to connect venue PF listings to the groomers that exist is a massive stretch. If you were a child, which of the following two PF listings would you be more likely to respond to?
"XXX-CLUB Ladies Night tonight. Find that special someone for a private dance. Siren/Goblet/wYYpZZ See you there!", or
"just started game and looking for new friends will you play with me?"
It's not the venue ads that you should be suspicious about. It's the innocuous looking ones in normal language that are dangerous.
Then give us links to these "tons" of fact and real incidents.
Again, not denying that there are some problems out there but you're exaggerating the extent greatly. One incident is one too many but it's also nothing that will be stopped by restricting what others are allowed to do.
1 I've reported them, as stated previously
2 I never specified a "massive number"
3 why are you still talking about pf listings after being told this isn't about pf listings?
4 "xiv has a groomer problem" is the general consensus among many in the venue scene. I've been told this by a wide number of people from friends to strangers.
5 there's nothing vague about advertising hookers
6 I'm not obligated to provide the players of the forum documentation of these things, though I am very tempted to.
7 again, nobody is trying to restrict what players are allowed to do. I reinvite you to read the op and comments.
Only popping in to add that stalking only seems to be handled "quickly" when it evolves into RL threats of violence/actually dangerous behavior (i.e. my case which got settled in a few days when this chick got upset that a guy she liked was into me and not her and took on my old alt's appearance & name and threatened to kill us both in response) vs people who get stalked through other means (we might be thinking of the same thread but the one where an FC (or someone in an FC) was getting stalked by someone who would sit in their house all day for months and GMs did absolutely nothing).
They seem to be pretty selective on what is and isn't worth looking into but I can't really speak on what determines it.
Okay bye. o7
I too had a friend, on crystal, who had someone stalk and harass her in game. They allegedly used third party tools to locate them, and teleport to their side as if they were using an eternity ring. She ended up changing data centers over it, and the GMs didn't do anything about it
I would love this list. That way I can give it to the venue owner where I manage. We have only had to ban one player where I manage in game. I mean everyone is aware of all that. It's why it's common practice on aether that lalafell are sfw positions or not given any nsfw services.
You also tend to forget there legit underage players who purposely go into venues and bait them and get them in trouble. It's pretty widespread on the different issues I think in the venue community.
Was wondering when you would pop up with nonsense like this. Nothing is baseless. I'm not sure why you would think so. It's down to you either wearing rose colored glasses or just trying to troll for that attention.
Trolls aside, people bringing up actual points in this particular thread.
What do you mean by this? lol
You literally accused me of being some troll in the housing forums and then admitted it wasn't me but could be.
How is this not a baseless accusation against me as a person?
"It isn't you, I can't prove it's you, but it could be you."
It isn't nonsense to point out how people are having baseless accusations levied against them and that seems to be what the thread is turning into.
Another user had a similar experience simply for disagreeing with a point.
What logical reason is there to say that GMs are wanting children to be victimized?
That is primarily what I was referring to and why I quoted it later on.
As I've stated previously, my post history is public and I've only ever shared my genuine thoughts and feelings about the game.
I'm not looking at anything through rose colored glasses.
I've even agreed to an extent with the point of this thread, so clearly I'm not blinded by anything SE does.
I like the game and can admit it had faults and problems, I just see no reason to outright accuse the GMs of something as extreme as what is being implied. It's irresponsible and actively harms the point being made.
I'd like to offer my 2 gil.
Sometimes I do get in the mood to look up a venue to go to but have to agree that certain aspects are getting a bit overboard.
-The shouts in and of themselves aren't anything I take issue with, the FREQUENCY of some of them however is becoming one.
When the game started shout was really intended to be an open channel for people to converse and occasionally shout out for help for things or offer to help people with things etc. There is no reason that these 'ads' should be an issue to a certain extent.
Where the frequency has started causing a problem is that it's getting nearly impossible to even use the Shout chat for any other purpose. Even just one person throwing it out now and then is one thing, but when you have 5-10 people shouting the same copy paste BS for the same venue it's not just a problem, it's freaking annoying and is more likely to make people HATE the places without even giving them a chance.
-By extension, while not as much of an issue the same type of thing is becoming an issue in the Party Finder even with it being kept to the OTHER tab (which I am glad that was finally accepted and used as a solution). Now I say this not necessarily to SE but maybe some that are involved with the venues.
Again, let me make it clear, I and many of my friends DO enjoy looking through these venues and use the PF to decide where to go. The problem with repetition is again, some of them are posted over an over by 10 plus members. This not only drowns out other venues, but most agree that seeing the same thing all over comes off as pretentious and annoying and once again, is likely to make people ignore a venue that they really may enjoy just on principle.
In the end I can't and won't tell anyone what to do but just wanted to leave my thoughts on the matter.
Dead on.
See the shout issue is kinda 2 fold. People generally will not mind if a venue ad is one or two normal sentences. Not as intrusive. It's the ones that think you need a giant paragraph or 3-4 separate ones that the issue comes into play.
If venues could learn to have one or two sentences that were brief. It would become a non issue really quickly.
As for pf. I have heard from lots of people that the more a venue has up for ads, the less appealing it actually is.
I get the purpose is to draw but it tends to have opposite effect. Theres a particular one on aether that has maybe 2 or 3 max on days they open and they are slammed. Then there's some with 6-8 pf ads that are dead.
Kinda makes ya wonder why these owners don't realize their spam is a detriment. I also wonder why venues don't realize we have a overflowing pot of venues with more opening weekly. So it's harder to get people in.
A lot of venue owners just don't care, and neither do the criers, they just wanna get business, who cares if some normie gets annoyed right? Until you're the 6th venue in the last 30 min that have shot out a multi layered post about gambling and sex.
I don't understand why people can defend these ads but hate youtube ads,
Yeah from my experience in working in some of those venues a few years back they would usually have shouts done about every half hour or so and due to the sheer number that exist these days it turns into sort of a competition which in the end does more harm than good.
It would be nice if a solution could be found, but I don't see SE doing anything about it anytime soon.
The RP tag already exists in game so they could add that to PF listings so people can advertise their event as a roleplay one.
This might not fix the problem of venues stacking party finders but it does allow the option for people to filter that sort of thing out if they have no interest in it.
Something similar could apply to the chat if they made a new option for it, something like say/yell/shout that you can turn on or off depending on your preferences.
The problem with this though is that it would need to have the same range as shout, otherwise people won't use it.
Then there's the question of if it'd be strictly for roleplaying like with the PF tag, or if it'd be any and all advertisements like twitch streams, art comms, etc.
One other thing I've seen spoken about here is blacklisting, and that in and of itself has a multitude of issues, but it would be nice if they reworked it and increased the limit of how many you can block which isn't a solution for what is being discussed here.
Hey I was looking for this thread again.
With the changes coming to the blacklist feature, how does everyone here feel about it?
I believe you can also filter out specific words too.
It's pretty great news, and some I am pleasantly surprised to hear they are implementing.
definitely be something to look into so we don't have to be subjected to those rp club advertisements. They are annoying. After so many.
I can understand that concern and I am sure people will try, but I'd like to assume that venues (since this thread had to do with them) would realize that if people are specifically filtering out words to not see their advertisements then they are not the crowd they want to attract.
However, if anyone tries circumventing the filter I think it would be grounds to report for harassment and have the GMs look at it.
It's not perfect, but I'm glad something is being done.
Only time will tell what we'll see come Dawntrail.
I only have two types of chats open. One is for parties and the other is for the free company. I got tired of seeing the spam and blocking them did nothing as they were doing it with newly created characters so I went to the extreme end to solve a problem that SE wasn't fixing.
im new to the game and i turn off shout chat 5 minutes after the first cinematic because it was just a massive wall of orange text talking about stuff i dont get so i dont even know what im missing out on besides talking to people in towns but i got novice network people if i have questions so i guess im ok but why are people allowed to spam so much i dont get it
I highly doubt it. The shoutouts and the party finder entries are there because the game does not offer another way to advertise the RP events. And if a person blocks the advertisments then this person is not interested visiting the RP events. And you do not want to have those people on your event. I guess, the advertisers will be happy, that they can be blocked. Because it lowers the propability to be reported for spam.
Cheers
novice network says that the people spam and get reported a lot and the gms dont do anything about the spam at all because the same ppl who get reported continue spamming the same spam every day so they all agree that gms are a part of it so they wont do anything cuz they value erp and spam over enjoyable game experience for all players so this must be a big issue if ppl feel so strongly about it and make a big stink so why dont they do the right thing and fix it
I wanted to add that this game is not universally rated as T. To me it came as a surprise 13yo are playing it as per user agreement. As in the UK it is rated pegi 16. And in Japan cero c (15+)
