New hrothgar hairstyles are really bad.

But I had this feeling for a long time that the fans that matter for them are the JP fans and we are an easy cash grab. Don't want to feel this way, but Hrothgar is more popular here than there, do you think they would have done the same half assed job to a Lalafell?

They aren't ignoring you. The game got a lot of West specific requests already done

I also think its worthwhile to comment on the official twitter posts about the Hrothgar hairstyles. It never hurts to utilize multiple channels of communication

I've been checking every day on every platform too. Idk this whole thing has frankly really upset me and at this point I just want to feel seen.

I'm too attached to my Hroth to change now, but it is becoming increasingly clear that the FFXIV team hates Hrothgar, and consider Hrothgar players a nuissance for actually holding them to the promises they made (and not accepting a 3 year late rushjob as a delivery of said promises).

So Ive been checking the twitter pages, an update of the lodestone, and now here and It seems like the thought process is..we should be thankful for these hair cuts? I did a stint as an Au Ra for awhile and it was not the same. I just wish they put far more effort into this, or at least would acknowledge that we are upset, that they listened to any of this. Multiple tweets from the official account and we still haven't been formally acknowledged, I'm hoping we can keep the momentum up

5 days until the patch notes and Yoshy P Q&A session. And 6 Days until the patch. I am going to go on some hard copium here guys and wait for the in-game models or this issue to be addressed.
If they don't I swear I will put that horrible 2B hairstyle on and bring forth the 8th Umbral calamity!

I wanna believe the dev team wouldn't settle for trash quality and that they wanna deliver the best product for us, so the fact that the hrothgar hairstyles weren't showcased on twitter and the patch website really gave me hope that they know they are not presentable in the current state and will change or delay them. I'll have hope until the last minute, so I really wanna see what yoshi-p will say on the patch note reading. I wanna believe.

I'm glad that people like you are speaking up, even people who detest Hrothgars can see how horrible these are

It really is quite worrying that patch day grows closer and closer and we've gotten nothing but radio silence outside of that one response that informed us about the 'limitations' issue. As some have stated before in this thread, if YoshiP and the dev team really do plan to commit to implementing these hairstyles in their current state, it sets a scary precedent on the quality of any other possible additions going forward. IF they're really content with releasing these in their current state... it will be even harder to undo the damage as it will already have been in the game... and the players can aquire these hairstyles. They can grow accustomed to them (somehow; I know it sounds crazy), and there would be a similar negative reaction to the one we're currently having if they were ever fixed after the fact. It... just sucks. I dont want to think negatively about YoshiP or the people under him, but to say even great people cannot commit errors is... well, not true. The ignorance is what's getting to me.

You know Yoshi-P messed up big when even the haters are on our side.

As I wrote here, race-specific hairstyles should be a feature built alongside other unlockable hairstyles, not as a replacement for them. As for the quality of those hairstyles, if they aren’t ready for release, don’t print them out and show them off as though half-hearted revisions are improvements. Postpone them. I would’ve gladly waited for a female Viera rendition of Battle-ready Bobs where the headband isn’t hastily clipped underneath the hair.

I would be more terrified if I boot up the game and all Hrothgars lost their ears. I know it's not likely but still.

It's such a shame too because I love the ponytail and many people like the Snow hair. So near yet so, SO far.

Not an April Fools joke. They wouldn't let this carry on until release. What you see is what you're going to get. Now will they decide to not release them at this point probably not. Question is will they make changes to the new hairs later down the road.

While I don't want to get hopes up, it seems the 6.1 site update lacks any mention of the Hrothgar hair shown off in the live letter. I checked the past patch sites to be sure, which all list any new hairstyles as features, usually next to the emotes. If it were to be released as planned, isn't it strange that they were not mentioned at all?

I hope you are right.
The best-case scenario: they saw the backlash from the community and spent this time fixing them. They were ashamed of what they showed in the LL and are working on a more presentable set (even if it's the same hairstyles they showed, but now fitted properly on the models and with the ears showing).

Worst case scenario: They didn't show it to try and avoid the subject in the hopes people would forget. That would also be why on their Twitter page if you say something about it your comment will be put in the "this may contain offensive language" tab. Aka not everyone would see it so it won't garner any attention.

Most probably scenario: They saw the feedback and let the ears clip through the hair. Or not add the hairstyles at all.

technically these are all pre-existing hairstyles being ported over to hrothgar

I don't dislike the hair choices per se but they look goofy as heck without the ears give our ears back and would look fine barring just not liking that style in general this is for sure one of the few times I'm on the band wagon

this is honestly what has stressed me out the most. I really don't wanna log in on the 12th and find my Hrothgar missing his ears

Noticed the new patch site update doesn't have any mention of the hairstyles when previous iterations all did.

Wonder if this means they know just how upset the community is?

Let's just pray for the prelimination patch notes to have Hrothgar with ears...

people are worried because they made a new head model without ears and slapped those hairstyles on them. the problem is that because they've gone radio silent, we have no idea if its just those hairstyles, or if we are losing ears altogether

Even if it is an april fools joke or maybe it isn’t and they’ll just play it off as one? this kind of silence when quite literally both these forums and the jp ones are exploding over this, it’s incredibly bad form and disgraceful of the dev team. So much for them always communicating and being transparent.

Oh god, I really wish they would tell us if theres a chance of us logging in without ears then!
