hmm as what ive been hearing you will be able to spend on alex's via MYTHOS..... so where did you get the idea that it will be based on gil
Central Thanalan is a good spot. I got 2 Alexandrites there. A lot of short FATEs that can be solo'd if there's no one playing there. Monsters that will die with 2 hits. If you don't mind the GC seals or the gil, Central Thanalan is the best spot (for me) for that.
Edit: 3 hours, 2 Alexandrites.
confirmed 11 materia of each tier per 44 caped stat
Not confirmed.
Reddit has a post of someone on their tier 2 materia after 7 melds.
Ok, not to be a dickhead, but how about updating that OP, as you said you would, OP? Reading through 42 pages to snipe some tidbits of info seems quite the workload. (And to be honest, I just want to know for the sake of knowing before I start working on my WHM Novus, as I already have the HA weapon on my main spec).
IMO it depends on the cap. I mean, the 4 tiers can be splitted between the maxium stat cap. For example:
Stats with a 44 cap (11 materia/tier)
Stats with a 31 cap (7/8 materia/tier)
Curtana and Holy Shield are the exception here, because they have different caps compared to a full weapon, so they maybe need less materias in order to get a higher tier.
Curtana needs 53 Alexandrites and the Holy Shield needs 22 Alexandrites =75 total. I'm upgrading my Curtana first.
lunar its what cyrus said, my buddy is doing det and he hit t2 with 8, acc which is what im going for took 11 to go to t2
Looks like infusion 8 will be the Grade 2. It says I'm missing alex now for the grade two vice the wrong grade of materia and grade 1 now says wrong type of materia. The chance at success for 7th infusion on +det was 50% (one failure)
Edit: I think tier changes can be estimated (visually seen) by lookign at the glow on the scroll. It appears to be moving towards the bottom left at least for the +Det.
Can't wait for someone to complete this so we know exactly how it works.
This theory makes a lot of sense
if true then determination will be 7/8/8/8. Not 7 or 8 across the board because you can't divide 31 by 4 into a whole number.
Requiring at least 8/11 tier 4s is just insane. I pray this isn't the case or Yoshi is out of his freaking mind.
I didn't check today but can we have more than one map at a time in our inventory?
Isn't SE doing what everyone wanted though? So many threads about making FFXIV like FFXI and now on this step your able to pay millions just like in XI relics.
Relics weren't the best, usually they were 2nd best. Which Novus now should be 2nd best
Relics in FFXI were always top Base Weapon Damage, the initial addition of the Delve weapons however shit all over the Relic weapon damage. In effect, relics technically were the best, the weapon skill that came with the relics however weren't always that great or even decent a majority of the time. But then again, a weapon in XI was only as good as it's wielder, someone who didn't know how to use it properly made it look worthless and some people who knew how to play their jobs properly owned anyone with the best gear in the game who had no idea what they were doing, and quite honestly that's completely different from this game and how its set up.
You can wear your nostalgia-tinted glasses all you want, but to say that the same doesn't apply to this game is silly. Gear supplements player skill, yes, but it's evident if someone is terribad despite having good gear. Especially seeing as in this game the acquisition of most gear requires no player skill from the player, just time and effort. Soldiery gear, relics, it's all viable and not far removed from High Allagan, but requires you to spam easy stuff all over again.
Now, my hat is off to anyone who has the patience and will to grind their Novus.
I think you're misunderstanding my point, a retard who don't know how to play, can't do his job right and will be the worst tank/healer/dps in the game, there is no discussion on that as its a fact. But someone with ilv30 gear wont come close to someone in i100 gear no matter their player skill level. However that being said, two people geared exactly the same, one who has a brain and one who doesn't, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know who will do better.
Fair enough, didn't mean to come off as hostile anyway, just interpreted your point as I did.
It's all good, but as far as this Novus quest goes....screw it, I ain't guna work at it like I did Animus, I finally managed to make enough gil to be satisfied for when personal housing comes out, I'm not about to blow all of it already on a bunch materia melds that are guna fail. I don't have the luck of the gods like some people I know (the PLD in my old coil group who got all 12 atma in less 24 hours), took me 6 months to get a single meld to stick on my belt for DoH, screw this materia melding idea for Relics, its part of why I didn't do relics in 1.0 on top of the fact of actually losing the weapon, catalyst and the materia..... anyone who dealt with that crap... I must ask if you're experiencing any PTSD heh...
I just wish that they would come up with something other than the same grinds over and over and over and over again for all the "new content" they keep releasing. FATE grinding ain't fun, materia melding RNG aint fun, waiting for FATEs ain't fun, spamming the same 8 dungeons everyday in Duty Roulette ain't fun, doing the same 8 daily quests everyday ain't fun either. If there was more variety in all this then I wouldn't mind it quite as much. I am looking forward to the next set of CT though since my old coil group fell apart and I haven't had a chance to even touch SCoB yet since everyone wants experienced only... meh.
I tried earlier and it gave me the error message saying I already had a deciphered map. :/ Guess that means I need to get rid of this Peisteskin map soon then...
I had a revelation after seeing that you can have more than 2 stats on your weapon.
Instead of doing tier IVs, you could add in another stat to make up for it to reach 75 to finish it.
Artemis Bow Novus could potentially be
determination: 23
critical hit rate: 33
accuracy: 19
instead of
determination 31
critical hit rate: 44
This would save you from having to do tier IVs. You'd only have to do I, II and III. This build would still be superior to the unweathered rosenbogen, which is 31 critical hit rate and 44 skill speed.
Relics were only best really when it was relics only in FFXI then mythics were better, even for a short time empyearen were better then relics. The only thing SE needs to do to make the grind worth it for all players without even nerfing any of the quests is giving them a small special buff like FFXI did. Where you got a dmg multiplier at small %. Or give tanks a dmg reduction buff at small %. Though i'm perfectly fine with them as is. I like having weapons where not many ppl will own them. It's why I like pvp gear before wintrading.
It is easy to hit acc cap on BRD without taking weapon into account. Putting accuracy on relic is just gimping it, and I really don't think anyone would want to repeat this process.
I think the whole point is future-proofing your relic though, because once 2.4 hits HA weapons will no longer be BiS and there will likely be another relic upgrade and you don't want to get stuck with acc issues if the new sets of gear severely lack it.
This is something I've felt conflicted about and I think I'll just save up all my alex and wait until 2.4 to see what stats I'll actually need before infusing any materia into my scroll. The weapon isn't BiS now anyway and is only a marginal increase over Rosenbogen even with full crit/dtr, so why bother with it now?
Hmm... I like this idea, and by then you can spirit bond many many materia so you won't go broke in the process... The only problem I see with this idea is if the next part of the relic quest in 2.4 is kinda the same way, where your secondary stats disappear, and you make new ones to take place of your old ones during the new Startdust Rod Zodiac, and then the same on the Stardust Rod Ultra Super Street fighter III!!!
The only problem I see with that idea, is if it follows the pattern where you use an "even" amount of materia grades across all melds, then it'll wind up being more Grade IVs overall, simply less Grade IVs per type. Also as I recall reading before, Det, if used as the 2nd secondary attribute will only go as high as 22 if you take the first secondary to 44 for a total of 66 since Det will always have a lower cap regardless. However what I'm not too sure on is what the max Det would be if its used as a 2nd or 3rd secondary attribute of 3 (or more) vs only the 2nd out of 2. 33 + 23 +19 does add up to 75, but the real question will be, how high can you take Det if there's going to be more than 2 secondary attributes? That said, using 2 secondary attributes looks at 16 Grade Is, 16 Grade IIs, and 17 Grade IIIs and 17 Grade IVs if they use close to an even amount of Materia Grades per tier.
If that's too confusing, for 1st secondary, in this case being Crit of 44, 11 Grade Is before next Grade is required, then its 11 IIs, then 11 IIIs then 11 IVs. Then for Determination as the 2nd secondary of 22, you can't divide it by 4 evenly as a whole number, so it'd wind up being 5 Is, 5 IIs, 6 IIIs and 6 IVs for a total of 16, 16, 17 and 17. However, using a 33, 23 and 19 secondaries like Skill/Spell Speed, Crit, Acc and Parry, it'll wind up being 8, 8, 8, 9 for the 33, then 5, 6, 6, 6 for the 23 and 4, 5, 5, 5 for the 19. Bringing it to a total of 17 Is, 19 IIs, 19 IIIs and 20 IVs. Granted this is just a random thought I had by using what I've read in this entire thread from the first page, so it may or may not actually be true.
But I believe using Determination on your relic will wind up needing less IVs (by like 1 or 2) overall vs going with Skill/Spell Speed, Crit, Acc and/or Parry simply due to them being able to cap higher than Determination. But since I'm not going to be working all that hard at doing the Novus quest, I'm not about to math it all out right away and see what'll be the best idea just yet, also I don't have all the information I'd need just yet to make that choice either.
Infuse 8(9) Det Grade 2 100% Chance +1 Det
Infuse 9 (10) Det Grade2 100% Chance +1 Det
#s in () for the total infuses, accidentaly did one crit =)
