If no one access a FC house in 35 Days you lose everything! Coming Patch 2.3 ><

I support the reworking of this. I have a small FC of about 10 people of those 10 only 3 of us still play. Me and the cofounder worked hard to raise the 20m or so to get the medium to be gone for a month and have all that hard work and gil washed away is a slap in the face

That is a load of crap, if that happens they should pay back the person who put that amount of gil into the house.

That is a lot of gil to be spending and furnishing and stuff.

especially 300k more for private rooms and then if you are gone for 35 days say a vacation and basically nobody decides to log in or something bad happens where servers are down for a bit like that quake that happened you basically screwed.

I mean if this is true, then it's very very clear this is a waste of time and money to even put time and effort.

I would much rather them put a for sale sign up and if it gets bought up by someone else then I get my gil back.

cause losing it for all the work you done for that gil and losing something you bought kinda sounds dumb.

imo if NOBODY in your ENTIRE fc accesses your house in 35 days, I don't see why it should bother anyone that you loose that house.

I mean why should SE dedicate resources to fc housing that has been abandoned, when they could reuse that house and that server space to give that plot to a group that actually uses it.

The only time 35 days would be inappropriate is if the servers were down, but its unlikely the servers will ever go down for over a month unless something catastrophic happens.

I really don't get anyone who doesn't support this move. If your FC has no one getting on for over a month, it doesn't deserve to have one either. If your not playing to support the game or even play it, then you don't need a house.

At most I would say maybe some of the money refunded but the house shouldn't just be a figurehead crowding space on the server either.

And I really don't get how it affects you in anyway? You don't work for SE. And new housing wards will be released over time anyway, so it's not like in game space is an issue.

So basically when private housing comes out

If nobody has accessed the FC house between patches (about 3 months), the house is marked for deletion.
(mogmail sent to the members and the icon becomes red on the map)

Then, after 35 days, it is deleted.

It would make more sense for smaller FC with people going on long vacations or short hiatus while still preventing dead houses to clog wards.

Well the OP for a start jumped to the wrong conclusion from the post. so I copy pasted to reiterate:

The OP stated coming in 2.3, where it was posted after 2.3. the OP stated it WOULD be coming, the quote states they will look into adding the feature, not that they are definitly adding as such.

Nowhere in the quote does it say it will come with 2.3 and nowhere it states that it will be definite. People should really learn to read in proper context before jumping to incorrect conclusions.

Not really sure why people are having a problem with this. If you're not playing the game why does it matter if you lose the house? 35 days is a lot of time...

So what exactly is the other option? Having houses that are never used and completely empty for the life time of the game?

Actually it does affect me or others willing to buy a house if its just clogging space. What if I like a particular location but now its just being held up by an inactive group of players? That's not any better. Several high populated servers have a good chunk of the wards full already.

Cactuar being a mid range alone, has a good chunk of them taken. Couerl with a fairly lower base then Cactuar has alot in the gridania and limsa wards full with many FCs, people have never heard of our seen(Servers fairly close knit cause of the low pop.) . I personally know of full FCs that have transferred servers off Couerl but kept the plot because they spent money on it. Of course these same people don't ever log onto the alt holding the plot.

So in order to maintain system consistency, clearness and fairness.

Please simply delete all charcters have not logon for n days.

A FC is auto-deleted when all members are deleted, and the house will be deleted upon FC deletion.
I am sure no one will concern house auto-deletion then.

some people just want it all for the sake of it XD.. even if they stopped playing the game for months. If SE allows more than 35 days, most FC houses would be ghost houses like they are now. Imagine that in 1 year. SE would be holding empty wards for nothing. Just a couple of busy FC in each and all the other ones empty. I don´t think it´s fair when the wards are limited. They fix the limited amount of wards or they clean it monthly. Just that simple. Nobody wants wards used by only 1 person each. lol

FFXI used to retain the right to purge your account if it was inactive for 3+ months. Data storage isn't so much of an issue as 5-7 years ago, and burning bridges like that isn't really a good idea anymore.

Unlike a character, a house has nothing to do with gameplay progression, and apparently uses quite a bit of server capacity. The main complaints in this thread are people who are solo/small FCs with folks who apparently take 35+ day long vacations from the game and want to retain rights to their house, or a fat refund if it does get recycled. However SE decides to handle inactive FC homes, let it be a feature be enjoyed by active players.

The flaw of your logic is that characters that are inactive for long periods of time aren't occupying space that could be used by people that actually play the game.

Like I mentioned (and you completely ignored) what exactly is the answer? Keep unused houses up forever? So eventually we might end up with full "ghost wards" occupied by people that left the game years ago?

They should just get rid of the house in 35 days but give the FC master an untradeable item that lets you claim and build on land of equal or lesser value than the one that they lost so gil doesn't return to the economy and people don't have to lose their hard work. I'm of the mind that this stuff shouldn't be for anyone to have as their own private house since this is meant for groups, but the amount of time and effort that goes towards the house is substantial and no one deserves to have that taken away from them.

Just to save the lazy people who didn't even read the thread, most of the people against the deletion DO NOT want the houses to remain there, we just want a way for both sides to come out the tunnel without a side being boned completely.

Suggestions were given such as a consolation deed to be transferred to the Company Chest with/without the furnishings. This way, the land will be freed and the absentee FC's members' effort/money/real time will not get wasted.

And instead of just pointing and flaming to those "small FCs", give a suggestion to help them, or better off, to help both sides.

Then they shouldn't have a problem with instead of deleting the house, put it back up for sale and the person who bought the house gets the gil back if they return.

Because simply that's robbery, buy something then waste 2-15-60 mil on a house and get nothing back for wasting that much gil

Inactive chracters occupying the most valuable unique resource - character name.
There are many requests of chnaging character name, name space would be a issue later.

By deleting inactive characters>the FC and the house, there will be no unused house.

Don't worry, I am quite sure there would be a character restore service and periodically free-restore-event like XI ^^;
But the character will need to be renamed if someone has taken his name.

The point is, by deleting inactive characters, not only the FC and it's properties will be deleted,
personal chamber and personal housing will be deleted as well, this solution resolves future issues as well,
and it maintains system consistency, clearness and fairness.

It was said in first pages of this thread, but really, if none in the FC will arse to their house in 35 days, they don't need an house.

I'm amazed the thread gone so far to 43 pages. Seems a lot of people want buy an house then quitting play but keep house. I don't want a cemetery of ghost houses. Rules are 35 days, live with them or don't buy the house.

These rules are being put into place after people bought houses, maybe they wouldn't of if they knew this was gonna happen and get screwed out of a lot of gil.

I mean lets just say someone doesn't go to free company house within those days they are raiding, family events, work and nobody really goes back to the house for a bit, they expect it to be there cause I mean they bought it, then realize its gone and wasted millions of gil.

Not just the leader but everyones gil who pitched in basically all their work flushed.

Thats retarted a better system would be to move there house from w/e ward and move it back. and move the persons whos active in your spot.. So if someone from ward I is gone for 35 days he goes to ward 2 and the house at ward 2 goes to ward 1. If the player comes back maybe he can get it back... But this is just dumb sometimes people ned a break atleast make it 60-90 days considering most people beat the content in 1month and wait for next updates.

I don't see any issue with this at all. If your ENTIRE free company cannot click a door for 35 days your lands does need to be freed up for FC's that will use it. Half the district where my FC's house is, is a ghost town of empty, abandoned houses.

I wouldn't be opposed to the data getting shuffled somewhere in case the FC comes back - say - the leader gets a credit for a new house in a new location upon your return so that the "work" you put in isn't completely lost... But to say that your house should be able to take up space while EVERYONE IN YOUR FC takes a year off from the game, meanwhile SE can't add more districts because we are already having latency\connection\space whatever issues is selfish and trollish.

We talking of FC not players. All this commotion maybe because a lot of people wanna do 1-person FCs with their house and show off they have one without even login the game?

Then if people finds difficult login once in 35 days, it means their game interests are elsewhere, do we really have to care them???

This is kind of what I feel about it. All this talk of "well if we knew this was gonna happen we would have never wasted the gil" - so you aren't playing, you only have 1 person in your FC that apparently can't bother to log in or subscribe, and yet you want to take up space in REAL TIME on the server? This wouldn't be an issue if the houses weren't taking up space in real time, but everyone wanted housing like this, and yet so many FC's have abandoned their houses that SE HAS to take action.

They didn't come out of nowhere with this. This is happening because ACTIVE free companies want to buy houses and they can't, because people who are long gone are taking up space in a game they no longer play.

I'd be up in arms too if they were just talking about deleting character data that doesn't really affect other players, but this is nothing like that. This is virtual persistent space that can only be occupied by one house at a time.

Now i see everyones point about 'if no one can bother' but i wanted to throw in my two cents. I am a second-in-command of a very minuscule FC on Ragnarok, right now, it consists of Myself and my leader Blood. a couple here and theres every week. Now i bought that house out of my own pocket, not asking anything of anyone for my FC to enjoy( It was bigger then) but now i am repaid with the exact thing we were promised not to happen, my investment for my House pretty much relies on my constant subscription to keep, i've sunk 3 mil of my own money into it which i feel as a casual player is alot to lose because everyone decided to quit. I'm not crying here, moneys actually pretty easy to come by now, but i feel that with no return for them taking back the land, i am forced to remain renewed and can never take a break.

Who doesn't join a game simply because their first choice of name is taken? I understand the inactive characters thing, but your friends must be trying to name themselves Cloud Strife and Tifa Lockheart or something. They need to be original. Having a first and last name makes it very unlikely a good original name will be taken. It's not like FFXI. Houses ARE unique btw. The plot may be the same but you build your own house with unique combinations of walls and roofs and interiors.

I don't know. Visiting your hous once withing 35 days shouldn't be an impossible feat if you're an active player. Though, they should give an alternative - this could invite problems if people go on holiday or travel somewhere and wont be home.

I suggest they make it so that it is 35 days of inactivity AFTER your subsctiption fee expires. At least for the personal housing this is a very good option, i think. If they travel it's easy to renew the sub online and they wont have to access the game.

Other MMOs also have a feature where if you don't utilize your property for a certain amount of time, you will lose it. Just be thankful SE doesn't force your FC to pay monthly dues to keep your housing like I have seen in other MMOs. XD I think the thirty-five day rule is fair. Even if you are a small FC... NO ONE visiting the house for thirty-five days seems so unlikely. If literally no one in your FC is playing for over a month, it's not exactly fair that you are taking up real estate that other people could use. On my server, almost all houses are full -- and I'm sure plenty of Free Companies are eagerly waiting for the addition of new wards like my FC is. So, space is limited. This may not be true on the lower-population servers, but it certainly is on mine.

Who here can afford to go on 35+ day long Holidays often enough for you to get screwed somehow by this system? On top of that, who here that goes on 35+ day long Holidays doesn't have access to the Internet on their entire trip? Let's be honest here, this doesn't affect anyone who goes on Holidays or anything, this only will affect people that just don't play the game very often if ever.

I'm the leader of a 5 person FC and I play this game every day and use my house every single day multiple times a day, I was the second house in the 1st Ward of The Goblet on Behemoth, I got a small house back when prices were close to 8 million gil. In reality, there are only two people including myself that are actually active players. If you can't find the time out of your day to log in to the game once every month to keep your house alive, you don't really deserve it... would you even be paying for the subscription at that point?

This isn't going to do anything for the average player, people just look at this and think "SQUARE ENIX IS TAKING MY HOUSE AND HARD EARNED GIL AWAY" when in reality I don't think a single person in this thread would ever have to worry about it happening to you.

The thing is though... one person going on vacation shouldn't matter, so unless you and your entire FC are going on an extended Holiday together, I don't see the problem here.

Deleting characters is completely different, you have to remember that houses aren't just data like characters, they're actual instances that can be entered. The reason that Square Enix made it so when you log out or change instances while in the house you appear outside the house is because it was too demanding on their servers to keep all the instances loaded when no one was using them.

I think this is more of a personal problem than an SE problem. If you don't want to play the game anymore, then why do you care what happens to your house? It doesn't depend on YOUR PERSONAL subscription, it just depends on SOMEONE accessing the house once in a rolling 35 days. I just can't drum up a lot of sympathy for the whole "my gil is wasted" position to take on things. ALL gil is wasted. Someday, the servers will be shut down. The house will be gone. The world will move on. None of this is even real.

Instead of the "Woe is me" position that everyone quit - why not add more people to your miniscule fc? You just want the house for you personally and that other guy? What if he wakes up one day, hates you, and kicks you from the FC? It's not like SE is going to give you all your gil back.

We spend gil on things to enjoy, but SE never once guaranteed that those items would persist forever and ever and ever, especially if they aren't being used. If you are gone, your FC is gone, and everyone you ever knew is gone for over a month (and I'd even go so far as to agree with some others in here that maybe 90 days is a better number), then the land should be made available for players actually playing the game.

A consolation deed would not work for several reasons:

- what if when they come back the housing wards are full?
- more importantly, who gets the rights for this consolation deed? The leader? What about everyone else in the FC that contributed to the house?

And I'm sure that's only the tip of the iceberg.

Here are suggestions to help them:
- log-in every 34 days so you don't lose your house (obvious one).
- invite new people into your FC.

Character names have no where near the importance of limited house plots.

I don't know how many MMORPG everyone here has played, but in absolutely every MMORPG I played (either F2P or P2P) they had this feature, for both guild house and personal houses.

Some games required you to log in and use the house every X time, others required you to pay a maintenance fee every week/month.
If you didn't you lost your house....some games you lost everything, other games your house went on auction and you kept whatever money other player payed for your house.

What's harsh and rude is the sense of entitlement to keep real-time virtual space that is abandoned as if it's some kind of shrine at the EXPENSE of other players who are ACTUALLY PLAYING. So SE decides instead of removing your house after you have abandoned it, they will add more zones for houses. Those get filled and abandoned. They add MORE zones, meanwhile, the lag in the game is getting worse because of everyone in their 2 person free company that decided to buy a house and quit for a year just couldn't live without their house still existing in a virtual world they no longer inhabit.

Their announcement is a step in the right direction. Expand it to 90 days so that people can take a break between patches if that's what they choose, but the houses HAVE to be re-absorbed into the game and recycled if they have been abandoned. The servers need to be able to handle the load for actual gameplay, not peoples' personal monuments to themselves when they no longer even play.
