Has the WoW crowd taken over now?

You have to admire the fact that people are so delusional that they don't for one second sit down and wonder why others are unhappy with them.

Maybe it's because you were afk for half a dungeon/trial/raid. Maybe it's because you typed "I'm new" then deliberately ate 7 different AoEs in a row that are easier to dodge than get hit by and tried to warm the floor for as much as possible while refusing to learn, thinking that speaking those magic words shield you from any need to perform. Maybe it's because you signed for a group in PF for a (part of a) boss that is way out of your league.

No, I'm sure it must be that the other person is just toxic for the sake of it. Can't be anything else.

I have a growing theory with these posts.

1) bait. It's usually bait.

2) It's the LFR/Normal prog crowd that made the exodus who were punished the most in SL (and made up the most of the exodus). The ones who screamed the loudest about Mage Tower being too hard, or the "audacity" the devs had to lock the moose mount behind heroic.

Every other Mythic raider I know (self included) had a 14 account since at least HW/Stormblood. You clear your tier and then go see what is happening in Savage. The sweatier the player, the more likely that they were a CM CE master and a double (now triple) Legend.

The reason WoW players think you can judge FFXIV community by the Savage PUG community is that in WoW there is no content outside of the newest raid and the newest M+ dungeons... Since FFXIV lacks M+, WoW players often think we have only half the content they do... when for FFXIV, people are out there doing all kinds of things to which, as you note, savage is only a tiny minority.

But if someone has spent their whole existence only seeing the color red, and you show up with blue, they will just label it as a new shade of red... It takes time for folks coming in from 'over there' to see that there is more than one color in the universe. ;)


That noted the FFIXV Savage community, especially the PUG Savage community, is the rare area where FFXIV is vastly MORE TOXIC than WoW. WoW raiders are actually pretty nice. It's actually a good way to find nice people in WoW; join or start PUGs for the normal or heroic tier of the current raid - and you're likely to find or be able to start a new guild or raid static as the odds are good half of the people will be very nice and willing to put in time to learn.

WoW's toxicity is most severe in M+ dungeons these days, as well as in capital cities full of people spamming out racist or sexist stuff in trade chat while working to get into M+ groups...
- Join or start M+ groups over there, and you will want to schedule a session with a therapist afterwards...

I was coming here to post this lmao. I remember back when I joined this game during heavensward, the kind of lunatic rages people would get off on if people joined an ARR EX run through the bloody duty finder and didn't come decked out in alexander gear and know 100% what to do having memorized every strategy possible. The hissyfits people would throw when the entire party didn't want to mass quit after one failed attempt was amazing, wanting to waste an hour of our time rather than eat up their penalty for rage quitting. This game's community has always had that subsect of bizarre brainworm players.

There's little to suggest that there are any inherent differences between "WoW players" and "FFXIV players". If who you are is defined by what games you've previously played, then likely the majority of FFXIV players would have a different name. Toxic endgame raiding has been a part of this game since ARR. I remember standing in Mor Dhona reading daily toxic looking for group adds threatening with kicks and whatnot. That is over half a decade ago now. But I guess that is somehow WoW's fault too.

In a strictly NOT personal way, I believe this game (and other MMORPG's) would be better off to focus on what it does best. A 3d anime "second life." That is to say, I think it would be better off without savage content. That said, I respect that you and others enjoy it. I just want, and get, something very different from this game. I think it would be a better game without it. Yes I know that will be super unpopular. But I said what I said.

That said, as long as hard mode raiding is going to be part of the game, I accept it and no one should ever treat you poorly on a personal level because of what content you do ( or dont do).

Bold of you to say that the game would be better without Savage. I remember back when the first Ultimate landed, and the content creator engagement for FFXIV content was the most active it had been since the launch of the game. I also remember back when Coil was the only difficulty. Savage exists so that the story can be put in normal mode, allowing casual engagement.

I'd avoid saying absolutes like that. It would be better *for you* maybe, but definitely not for the game as a whole.

EDIT: Also, I don't appreciate the soft implication that I'm not a customer that deserves to be catered to. How is my sub money worth any less than yours?
