*facepalm* Lottery=rng Next ignoranace loaded question please
Rng is Rng and rng gets worse the more variables you have. "here's your sign" - Bill Engval
Explain how RNG of a lottery system is going to fix housing? Explain how its going to ensure players who have waited years are not going to get screwed and watch it give a house to someone who has only played 6 months? Explain how its going to keep things fair for all players no matter how long they have played? Give every player assurance they will get a house so long as they meet the requirements, Assure them rng in your beloved lottery wont screw them over for months or years. Lets see the big witty brain of truth you got answer all this.
No excuses, No saying you have no clue or don't know, no saying SE needs to figure it out. You been pushing this idea now make players believe its a good idea show them all that Hype you have for it. Time to step up and address the cons of a lottery system and ease people concerns.
Here's and idea that's been presented before pro's and cons. WAIT LIST!!
You put your name on the list. Players near the top get offered any homes that are up and then it moves down the list from there.
Pros
No random selection
No Concern if someone has more gil then you
No wondering if you will ever get a home
You are assured a house soon as you are close enough to the top. If there are 5 homes up then the top 5 players get them and the list moves down.
Cons-
Have to wait your turn
First come first serve on the list
No promise you will get the plot and size you want. Size can be fixed with a size selection. Plot just got to live..
Few other things about it that need to be addressed but its better then a lottery where you don't know the outcome..But if you like the idea of a 6 month old player getting a house first try after you have tried 105 times..enjoy your punishment.
A lot of people have said they'd be fine with a leasing system if it meant the demo timer was scrapped. As it could then allow players to take those breaks that yosji p keeps saying g they can but the reality is they can't...
Using the numbers you gave as an example I could then chuck a couple million gil to pay the next 6 months rent and then drop my sub and take that break till the next patch goes live. I'd be totally fine with that.. as long as its capped at say 6 months (1 patch cycle) to stop players just chucking 10 years rent in advance and then quitting and never coming back..
Least then players could actually take those breaks yoshi keeps saying they can.
It is obvious that the only issue SE was focused on, at least in the immediate, was that players were sitting clicking on a placard for a stupid amount of time. The lotto system solves that issue and that issue alone. However, statically getting a house will be extremely more difficult as the pool of players you will be competing against will increase both because of the recent influx of new players and the lack of a "dissuasion" that was the time sink of old housing savage. Meaning any player can spend 2 minutes getting a ticket, so instead of competing against the 10-15 players clicking the placard, you're competing against a most likely exponential amount of more people.
That coupled with a most likely less supply, because of the FC wards and personal wards. i don't see them adding that many new wards due to data issues (which people don't seem to grasp). The people who have houses will be grandfather'd in if their house happens to be in a now FC or personal ward. So all in all, you are even less likely (on the surface) to get a house in 6.0 then now.
Loop hole with rent even with cap. Players would still pay forward and leave. 6 month cap wont stop them, they would pay leave. In 6 months log in long enough to pay again and leave. Demo timer sucks which I fully understand but it serves it purpose which is too encourage active play. SE wants homes in the hands of active players not players who only play on patch drops. Players who want freedom to take off should invest in and apartment.
SE is not likely to implement this weird fixation of yours. Also, I don't think you realize just how much gil people have. I'm watching people buy relocations or FC houses for anywhere from 60 million (for a lvl 6 bare bones FC with a small house in a weird location attached) to 800 million+ (for a large house in a desirable location). Housing hoarders have a lot of gil, that's how they got where they are now. Implementing this weird fixation of yours wouldn't be so much as a blip on their radar.
Just stop. You shouldn't encourage "upkeep", this isn't real life where we have to pay mortgages. It's isn't very cool to punish your players for playing your game.
You have to ask yourself:
"What value does this bring the players?"
Paying an upkeep deliver z e r o value.
It doesn't improve anyone's experience.
We already have a demolition timer in the game, that should be a good enough deturent to keep your house, arguably it could be shorter than 45 days, imo.
But this mindset of yours is mindblowing.
Can you start making good suggestions in that case?
