Healer Horror Stories: Redux

It isnt exactly a healer Horror Story, more like just a Horror Story and i was a whm at that time ...
Tsukoyimi ex. I did her with a lot of practice groups and my worst phase is the Last phase (with the fans and stuff). But I killed her several times so i thought i wanna try a farm group now.
I was used to the floating healer and d safe spot strat. The group i joined was a No Marker strat and as soon as i joined a guy was spamming : healer LEFT LEFT LEFT LEFT OF HER, dps RIGHT RIGHT RIGHT RIGHT OF HER.
I thought: Oh Boy, whoever gets this wrong is gonna have a Bad time.
Long Story short: it was me.

The First Run went smooth except i confused sites one time. Nobody died, everything was fine. As soon as we got out the Same guy Said: are we gonna keep this whm!? He confused sites. Strange. STRANGE!
nobody said a word (me included) and i was so embarassed. I did her a few times, i can do her mechanics, apperantly I\\\\'m Just Not good without Markers :(

I thought: okay, He will be quiet and i will concentrate and we do this. But He Just kept talking: I\\\\'m focusing you! Oh, so you let the other healer do protect? Hm you\\\\'re Not really good geared (I\\\\'m ilvl355...), I bet you did the same mistakes at byakko ( i have a byakko wep). Even in the Fight: aero isnt Up, what are you doing? Are you sure you\\\\'re standing on the right Site? No holy?

I was so embarassed and felt so unsure it was really bad for me. And when we reached the Meteor phase, i barely did the Meteor right, we died and He was like: IT WAS THE WHM I SUPPOSE! And kicked me.

I felt really horrible after that and went to a practice group. We killed her after the second try and farmed her Afterwards.

Maybe im Just Not good enough for Farm Parties.

While "no markers" might make some people feel more pro or whatever, there's a reason for them. Savage raids, ex primals, whatever -- people generally do better/make fewer mistakes with them.

Anyways sorry you got harassed like that. Don't give up!

Assuming this is about the meteors, this is a crappy strategy anyways. Much better to have Tanks/DPS do north/south and have the healer adjust to whichever side is waxing. If it's about the Spear Nightfall only, then it's also pretty stupid because there's no reason to change the meteor directions for Nightfall. Unless I don't understand what a no marker strat is, it just sounds like your tank was using a poor fight strategy.

So I was in Ridorana Lighthouse raid the other day. I play as a white mage, and there was this astro saying, "What's the point of your existence if you don't regen."

I actually did cast regen quite a bit, whenever I had the luxury of time for it, and the situation didn't call for a more powerful direct heal. At that time it was so chaotic people kept on getting hit.

I ignored his rambling at first. The other healer kept on dying - a lot - and kept blaming me for "not casting regen" as if it's the be all and end all of everything.

I couldn't help myself from typing, "Maybe if you spent more time healing the party rather than tanking the floor, I'd actually be able to cast more regen."

Got 0 commendations. I felt really bad afterwards and started ruminating whether or not I am playing my main class correctly.

Regen is a GCD skill; so as good as it is, it's still lower priority than oGCD skills if you're trying to minmax your play. And, of course, there's plenty of downtime where no tank heals are needed at all. Chances are there are always ways to improve but... yeah, feel free to ignore someone that thinks you need 100% regen uptime.

Not really a specific horror story from me, but more like a common issue in lower-level stuff. Load in to a sub-level 50 dungeon, get matched with a Dark Knight(its always the Dark Knights). Dork Knight proceeds to do High-level style pulls, you(the unfortunate Healer) spend all your MP spamming high-potency healing spells to try to keep him alive. By the time you reach the first boss you're out of MP and the tank, impatient as ever, immediately charges the boss. You wipe then the Dark Knight proceeds to unleash his inner vitrol, blaming you for the wipe and possibly trying to get you vote-kicked.

That happens to me so often in Toto-Rak and Dzemael Darkhold that it makes me want to just leave them on sight sometimes. Especially in Dzemael Darkhold, all too often they try to wall to wall pull the place and end up hitting the floor because they're losing 90% of their HP every GCD. Not much I can do there, even on WHM. Try to cast even a single Holy for mitigation, and by the time Swiftcast turns on the tank's already dead. In Toto-Rak, its always the second boss that causes the trouble. As soon as that slow comes out, things go downhill fast. Not to mention the adds that typically end up just running around smacking people at random since they don't grab them half the time.

I registered for Leveling Roulette as SCH and got Ifrit Normal (lvl 22 something). Got a DRK, SAM and BRD. I thought, this will be a quick and easy one, like always. Everything went smooth until the Infernal Nail appeared. Neither tank nor DPS did anything about it and focused Ifrit. Ofc my own DPS was not enough to bring it down before Ifrit disappeared and casted its enrage. Never happened to me, but okay, there are always first timer.
I wrote in chat to focus down the nail/pillar, and the tank already pulled while I was still typing... just great. Casted protect, and went on to summoning my fairy. Meanwhile the DRK took the flame breath head-on without any CDs at all, next auto hit killed them while I was already casting Physick... swiftcast rez, heal, protect again. SAM in chat: "Uhm, healer?" I explained I didn't had time to summon my fairy, no answer to that. Then Nail phase again... BRD and me focusing on it, but SAM and DRK keeping on Ifrit... wipe again. At this point, I knew I had to approach the SAM more directly and told them to attack the nail/pillar. Their answer: "Your job is to heal, the tank to take damage, and mine is run around and do damage!" SAM was also the only one to take avoidable AOE damage while every other person dodged it.
The BRD said they were attacking the nail. At first I thought they meant me and themselves, but as it turned out they meant themselves and the SAM. I knew from SAM's movement and later checking the battle log that it just wasn't true. Well... you can imagine how our 3rd attempt went... even the DRK was focusing the nail this time, but this SAM...
I was trying to vote kick the SAM, but it got declined. (I should have noticed earlier that both the BRD and SAM were from same server, probably pre-made/friends.)
Then the sh*tstorm started. SAM calling me: "HEALER? YOU C*NT", even the BRD suggested getting rid of this a*sehole (me), cause they really thought it was my fault that we wiped.

In my entire time in FFXIV I have never had to experience this kind of people. I thought, it was the best to keep quiet in chat and just write reports for harassment. Sad thing that this DRK probably thought we wiped because of healer fault, and I wasn't able to give them tips to use CDs, ready checks and countdowns.

You did the right thing. While it's just human to want to fight back, 99% of the time it doesn't help. They don't listen to you and the fight just escalates. Sorry you encountered such a nasty group of players.

Was trying a Doma Castle awhile back leveling my SCH (I'm DRK main but I just like support in general). At that point I was still figuring out how to heal with SCH because its a tad different than WHM and AST. MT is a War in full shire 260 gear and just sprints and pull to the spiders. Haven't really figured out all my buttons yet and pretty much excog/lustrate and spam physick with larg, rouse + all the skills on eos. Not sure how many CD the tank popped but he drops anyway after all 6 stacks of aetherflow is gone and most of the mobs are still alive.

Reset and same thing again, but this time we survive because most of the first pack is dead. On to the next pull WAR picks up the giant and pulls it to the next pack, AoE markers are everywhere and hes dropping to half HP in 1 hit, we wipe nicely because EOS is following me around instead of healing and all my oGCD instants are used up.

From that point on its single pack pulls all the way to finish and lots of healing for every boss.
