Well in the event Samurai is a novelty name class and tries to be something it is not you might just have to deal with people crying about it forever. People cried about the Warrior in 2.0, they cry about it now for other reasons in 3.0 and will likely continue and the same is true for your beloved Dark Knight although it's more a Magic Knight if anything.

Yeah, because expecting a FF to be a FF instead of a copy of any other MMO is that weird. Oh, well!

I only remember Yoshi P mentioning that he would like Samurai to be a DPS job, but has the potential as a tank and that it would require some consideration. Do you have a more recent source of this particular statement?

What are you talking about? Obviously the samurai will stab you to perform healing - Fun fact: It was actually a thing in Final Fantasy Tactics with a healing staff that healed whoever you attacked (which also resulted in death of the healer if said person being healed has counter equipped)

Unfortunately unlike Tactics XIV offers little to no customization whatsoever.

Red Mage as Tank? What? WHAT? ya know, it doesnt soudn like it, but original Red Mage coudnt wear anything heavier than chainmails.
Ok, he could use Broadswords and such, but shields, rather than warrior, onl buckler. So Red Mage as tank is like DRG as healer.

Please keep some concepts within some realistic patterns. :P

Or a DRK as a tank. Oh, wait. But yeah, other than that, they can work around the fact that RDM has protective magic. How about we think outside the box for a change? 3 heavy-armored tanks are enough.

Can't think outside the box if the devs basically want jobs to be contained in 3 different boxes.

I was referring to the community. RDM has some powerful protective magic. Meh, I'll call it a day here probably.
