Let's look at the big picture. I will take you on a brief journey to the future.
Our highest level at present is 50. We already know this will not be the case forever. How long did it take you to get from 1-50 in XI? In WoW? In any other game? Did it take you a year? Or did it take you a couple months, or a couple weeks, or a couple days? The level cap will go up some day, and when it does, who's going to be power leveling?
You could say, "Well they can adjust the exp rate once they increase the level cap". True, but why bother doing the same work twice? Yoshida has said that the dev team is about 50% done with their changes and additions. That means they have a plan. They know where they want the game to be. Can anyone on this forum honestly say they know how the EXP grind is going to work when the game reaches Yoshida's "100%"? By then the level cap will probably be increased to 60. At 150k / hr (in an ideal setup), and with the amount of exp needed increasing with each level, how do you know that 150k / hr won't be a reasonable amount?
Again, this all comes down to the fact that we are playing an incomplete game. Complaining about bugs and glitches (like the new claim system) is one thing, but there is nothing bugged or glitchy about how SE has worked out EXP distribution. It is exactly as they intended it. Making suggestions of how you would like it to work is another thing. But complaining about how it's working in the current version of the game is pointless. Look at how much this game has changed in the past year. Think about how much more the game is going to change in the future. -

And leveling should be quick because unless you really like killing hundreds of the same monster over and over again for hours upon end, you should be able to level up quickly then go do fun stuff rather than get bogged down in boring, mindless exp grinds.
The answer is to generate enough content to carry the player from point A to point B so that he's not doing the same thing over and over. Y'know, stuff like adventure.
PLing is a false answer to the issue of tedium. Whatever content was being designed to carry us through to 50 is now quickly becoming useless. It's a short sighted answer to a problem that will only plague them later on, as it did FFXI.

This thread is getting out of hand. C'mon people, who would want to spend all their time being PL'd and not do anything else available in the game? I've been PL'd before in mmo's but I don't go skipping all the story scenario and dungeon events just to get to 50 (some might, but most will play the content).
