Did SE try and shove two sets of skills and ideas from two different classes into one?
Did SE take Bard in the wrong direction perhaps? Perhaps they should have been more bold and decided to split the job into two. Ranger would be more like what we see now in 3.0 but stripped down to remove that clunky feel, try and get that fluid motion that BLM has to their skills. The other side could be Bard which would be similar to 2.00 Bard but PUSH the support side.
I'm just bouncing round ideas off the top of my head here, i'm well aware that they never wanted to do the whole "split class" thing again, but i feel like they missed a trick here.
