I just had an amazing run. I queue up for Leveling Roulette since I'm itching for 'dem esos, and hope for a fast early dungeon. I get half my wish since I land in Copperbell Mines. With three sprouts! No problem, I love sprouts, its good to see the game grow.

Newbie message pops up, and I notice all three were classes. Apparently the healer got kicked out of their last group since they were aoe healing while being punched by mobs that their tank wasn't taking back. The tank was new and the arcanist said that it's been a while for them. So I start by doing some explanations and let them know I'll give pointers and tips as we go though the dungeon.

We slowly make our way though, but we're chatting and having a good time, I'm giving tips to the tank to keep agro, letting the healer know to let the tank flash a few times before healing them. The Arcanist is pretty good, handing things well without any need for explanations besides his carbuncle and the mineshafts. Before the bosses we stop and I explain what to expect, and we make it though with no deaths and everyone working together to improve.

We finally make to to the lass boss, tank decides to go with burn him down (Mostly! Had to grab adds at the end), and we all part ways with cheers. Every sprout got the mapping achievement, and got to move on beyond the dungeon.

Not the speedy run I hoped for, but definitely more worthwhile. :)

You can notice them by how they tend to rush a head in dungeons in a attempt to clear the Dungeon as fast as possible while being completely ignorant of their rude and aggressive behavior towards other party members who they believe are slowing them down from clearing the Dungeon fast.

Their so called "Advices" are also not so good.

A recent "Try hard" player attacked a healer in my group because the Healer was not using Cleric stance, DPSing, and Holy Spamming but this guy just kept rushing through the dungeon without waiting for us never stopping to allow us to catch up always rushing right into the boss without making certain everyone was ready for the boss and kept spamming Sprint to rush through the dungeon so in each Boss fight he starts it with almost no TP resulting in me having to use my TP regen everytime.

And his so called "Advice" to the Healer because the Healer was not using Cleric Stance and DPSing was....

Holy?

Cleric?

Stance?

Git?

Gud?

the Healer didn't help the situation by saying he plays the way he wants to play knowing such a comment would only make him more agressive but such reaction may have been caused by the Tank's Passive Aggressive Nature in his comment to the Healer. However, the Tank just kept making things worse by saying He knows what he is doing because he Raids and the Healer is being a loser for not meeting his standards.

I tell him that when you play a DF there is a rule that you are expected to play with different players of different skill and play style.

Then the Tank said "I make the rules"

I thought he was joking but I began to think he was serious.

Then the Tank made things worse by insulting the Healer more saying the Healer does not Raid and he will never find a Raid group because his Healer Skill's sucks for not DPSing.

I told the Tank maybe the Healer would have taken your adive if it was not so aggressive but the Tank left right after never seeing my advice to not be so aggressive when it comes to players not perform the way he would expect.

Seriously what kind of Raid group would tolerate and allow a Player with this kind of behavior into their group?

Ran a Mentor Roulette the other day and got Brayflox. No new player bonus showed up despite having a greenie tank and I checked and they were level 40+, so I didn't think anything of it.

They pulled the first trash pack kind of hesitantly and then went to the Ochu before doubling back when we couldn't open the door. The first boss went perfectly fine and then the tank admitted that they had only done the run undersized and they didn't remember the layout and they felt very confused about the next part because of the side rooms.

And I was all like, "HOLD ON LITTLE GREENIE. MAMA SELLI IS GONNA TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOU." I didn't actually say that, but it's what I was thinking.

I marked all the side rooms with A, B, and C markers. I told them the rooms were optional, but I was just pointing out where they were so they wouldn't get confused. We ended up doing most of them. I explained the bosses briefly (they remembered a couple parts like the... lizard thingy getting killed by the dragon coming down). The whole run was super smooth and the DPS were very patient (One of them was working on their 5th or 6th level 60). I think the tank walked away with all 3 coms, they were quick to pick up stuff and really good at their role. Props to that whole party. \o/

Sometimes I just have to hold my face in my hands and groan really loudly because if what df happened to me happened to actual newbies they'd probably quit the game or at least stop for a while.

You ever been on your sproutling alt that got into 2.5, queue up for Keeper, get an okay group with a fellow sproutling monk, who immediately hits return when they die against Middy... So you double as wildly dpsing WHM during Midgard-darn-sormr to make up for the lack of second dps?
I'm not looking forward to Nabriales with my df luck lately, augh.

Just got out from trial roulette and got The final step of faith. Party consist of I as DRK, PLD, WHM, SCH (AST? Don't remember), MNK, DRG, and 2 MCHs. One of the MCH was new and I briefed the mechanics. In the middle of my brief a dps accidentally pulled Niddy, we wiped, DRG pretended to d/c but to we don't kick him because we decided to let him either leave by himself or stay and get carried. I was curious how 3 dps could pass the add phase or not and we all agreed to test it out. No everyone surprise we passed it and managed to 1 shot Niddy ! Since WHM went DPS in add phase XD

A big shout out to all you awesome people that made the run possible ! :D

Most of my runs are quiet, so it's more boring than anything. I think the most recent eventful run I can recall involved my second attempt run of Final Steps of Faith. Argued with a supposed mentor whom declared we had to all stand in a circle to avoid being wiped, and it having been nothing to do with the fail dps check that caused our deaths.

It was both somewhat frustrating and amusing at the same time.

I do miss the days where Hullbreaker was young enough to where it would be ok to make random perverted comments of tentacles and invasions of naughty bits.

Yes, I am noob about dodging mechanics in general. I put parry in my bard to try to increase a little my survival rate. But I also thought about puting piety to increase the duration of my songs. Anyway, materia looks useless when have sync. Today roulette 60 gave me Aetherochemical Research Facility and there stats are adjusted.

Well, Scholar is my main job (iLv 234 here), but I like to play as Bard for buffing people with my songs (and lately I only do trial roulette as dps). Then perhaps be good I leveling Pugilist for Lv42 only for catching Mantra as cross skill.

TL;DR Don't be an ass on a tank. If you have the tools, use them.

Mind you the archer didn't do this out of spite. With the new tank he actually DIDN'T do this, so the rest of the run went smoothly.
In addition I didn't give a damn since Scholars at low level are broken, so I was able to heal without issues on normal pulls anyway.
If I didn't vote kick the tank I swear she was going to cause issues if she was threatening to leave over one silly pull at a low level.
However, if she asked NICELY "Please don't pull without me" Alright, you win.

This isn't a rant or anything, so much as a shout-out to someone. To the two people in my SMN's Akh Afah Amphitheatre (Hard) run a little bit ago, there's no need to be such jerks to people who haven't done the dungeon before. Here's what I came back to after watching the cutscene.

Adding another one. Ran Midas 1 on Ninja. Everyone seemed overgeared minus myself and the Paladin. Right at the start the Warrior becomes selfish and asks the Paladin to Tank everything, despite them being better geared vastly. After some convincing the Paladin agrees to tank, what happens next? You guessed it, the Warrior bitches to the Paladin about not keeping hate. Yet they refuse to stop using their enmity rotation and attempting to help via damage reduction. (Don't start the whole gimp your damage deal, you should be able to adjust to any situation)

Throughout the main part of the fight the WAR becomes an asshole and links a Tank guide several times, I ask them to stop it because they aren't helping. They then claim that they are helping. No, you really are not. You're being an asshole.

More enmity issues arise from the PLD because everyone vastly overgears her. (i205 average vs i220+ average) As a NIN I try to cut down the enmity from the BLM who steals it quickly and gives it to her via shadewalker. We manage to scrape by but this WAR was just being a constant asshole trying to berate the PLD for losing hate. Maybe you should tank instead of berating her is what I said, they then claim they have been. (They've been in deliverance just dpsing and being selfish by berating her rather than standing up to tank)

The story's a mess but we finish, the WAR still continues to link a tank guide at the end and I told them that they really were the worst people I've met and this WAR should be ashamed of themselves for having such a cocky attitude. Needless to say I consoled the Paladin and told her she did her best and went on my way.

The tl;dr of this: If someone is struggling, you can actually help out if you're the co-tank instead of berating them and being an arrogant ass. It doesn't make you look any better, and the entire party agreed on it.

Story :

Decided to do a Esofacility Run, everything was fine, 1st Boss, 2nd Boss, then Horror happened.

Igy and Laha Boss, Tank died cuz of standing in Ice Orb and getting hit by Fire Orbs after that, alright, I died cuz I did not expected that too happen at all... (Heck... out of 20-30 Runs?...) well who cares. SMN ressed me, I ressed Tank, we have beaten both.

Prim Boss, all three begin to go mad because a SCHOLAR uses FRIGGING CLERIC STANCE in such a EASY Dungeon?! THE WORLD IS GOING TO END YOU GUESS OR WHAT?!

I refused and told them a simple "Nope, not again this argument", didn't left Cleric Stance, DPS'd as I always do, using Dissipate as a Aetherflow Stack to DPS even more, what happens? Tank yells, "I'm not going to leave AoEs now, gl". No in fact, even both DPS did not DPS anymore and were standing still doing nothing.

We died, I told them seriously, this is going straight into the Forum, told them that A8S requires Healers to DPS aswell, no, any Hardcore Content does to ease the Checks a bit, right?
Typical Answer as you can see above, in the end I was tired of those uber cool Players and me the "Toxic" Scholar sat just down, throwing a Adlo sometimes, else letting Eos Heal.

WHAT DO WE LEARN ABOUT THIS?! The entire Time I spent sitting on the Ground while Eos Heals, I COULD HAVE THROWN DAMAGE OUT and end the Battle sooner, but People like that make it much worse!

Serious... Ya I'm upset, I don't want to wait 'til the Tank Drops to 60% HP and throw an Adlo out just waiting for the other Drop, it's madness and it is a flaw currently...
Learning my Role right, having all three at Lv.60, knowing when to use AoE's, when to enter CS and managing MP, that's why I run this Dungeon at all due of my AST Relic -_-

Due of the "Stalking Potential" the Lodestone allows, I have found out that all three Players belong in a FC, this makes even more sense now... What a Bad Luck I seem to have....
I assume this only means I won't touch the DF without Friends or FC Mates (Which ain't Toxic to others...)

Was running Cutter's Cry on my DRG alt. During the last trash pack before the first boss, the MCH takes damage, I don't know what he got hit by, but the WHM doesn't heal him although he's almost dead, just throwing some Stoneskins.
At the second boss, I get the sludge debuff and don't receive any heals or an Esuna, thus I ask for at least the latter. No reaction, but I keep myself alive with Life Surge and Bloodbath. Later, both MCH and WHM die due to a combination of the debuff and the whirlsand AOE, DRK and I kill the boss, then the WHM starts raging at everyone. The DRK shall learn how to tank while the DPS shall learn how to dodge. We explain them about unavoidable damage, making them even angrier. We're all wrong, the only person in the party who should need to receive any heals is the tank as you can dodge everything, everyone but them sucks, etc.
We kick that idiot, clear all the trash up to the final boss before an AST joins and we clear without any further problems.

Btw, I kinda wanna see this WHM go mad in dungeons such as Aurum Vale or the Vault :o

How come I didn't get you for my 50s? I got a scholar who would not DPS. He didn't even bring his fairie out until right before the first boss and I had to remind him. And since I got yelled at before for reminding a scholor about their fairie I phrased it in a way to make it look like his idea. "Where'd Eso run off to?" It was just Snowcloak so it wasn't detrimental, but still he wasn't doing anything at times. And that bugs me way more than it should. Especially on a SCH. Throw out a Bio or Miasma or something.

In that second statement, I actually like using Trick Attack whenever it's up on bosses anyway. (Assuming the rotation/buff/dot timings allow it)

Oh wow, didn't expected that much positive Posts, you know, the last Days farming some Dungeons for Esotorics has been painful in terms of Toxic Players.

Out of 20-30 Runs, well, let me say it like that, 6* forgot one... lol, Runs were Toxic, 2 of them were People refused to do anything and teaching me to become a better Healer. Hence, of course I do not Main Scholar, it just sadly has more DPS Potential then White Mage (Being good for the Burst, has to somehow sustain MP) or AST (Gravity usage without break is a horrid thing you can do even with a buffed Ewer Card which gets extended)

Yet if I see a Boss and his AoEs dealing only 1.000-2.000 Damage, be it on myself or the Tank itself.... This is really not threatening at all, so sitting down and throwing a single Heal every 10 Seconds isn't really Healing in my Opinion, it's just well some might understand, some not and I respect that, it's being lazy for me and I feel lazy when I don't do something in that time.

It just takes some nice Words, let it be "Yo Dio, mind if you focus on Healing more? I feel better that Way" so I heal only, of course this is going to kill time yet if that makes People happy or if the Tank is new in Content I appreciate it and let the Tank learn that Dungeon.

Pretty much been using Scholar for speeding up those Runs as most People even say they do it for their Relics and the Grind is rather being slow and annoying, so ya, I do my best to speed it up.
Heck, I wish we could take People from other Datacenters and Group with them seeing how many People suffer the same or they want a Healer for their Relic Grind Process :x

Heck whenever I see a Water Splash coming up from a Ninja, it is time for me to enter Cleric Stance, I'm not sure if Baning the Trick Attack from NIN still works but you know what I'm going for.
Sure I do my mistakes, being in Cleric Stance and accidently hitting on a AoE Emergency Skill that uses a Aetherflow Stack, in that moment I feel ashamed, things happens, if a Tank dies and I know how much I can resist from the Boss and what the Boss does generally in the fight.... There is time to let the Tank lay down in such situations and wait for your Swiftcast to come back.

I wish I had reported them, but to be honest, under what term does this fall? Harassement? Sure if I can prove somehow if they're friends, though, the fact is, I do have a different playstyle and that being a Healer focusing on keeping everyone alive and dish out the last DPS I can. They coulda have kicked me for my playstyle and they were on the right side :x

But seriously, that is really asinine. All of it. I run with the "do what you can do" philosophy on healers and dps. I do get bugged by the healers that sit there healing the tank every few seconds then nothing, but I know it's just me and I don't give anyone crap about it.

However, I'm just baffled at how often people run into this stuff. Maybe I'm just hopelessly optimistic.

Afterwards, around one Hour later being cooled down, I did 5 Runs of that Dungeon with a Pre-Made Group and they were amazed how sick the DPS can be if there is a Warrior/2x SMN or BLM/SMN / SCH Setup. We completed those around 15-17 Minutes which gave me in the end 3 Umbrites (had some Esos before).

Healed an odd Toto-Rak run today. Gladiator seemed to have one of those nice quick-mark macros going, and dps seemed pretty good at following, but the tank never seemed to use Flash more than once or twice a pull. After pulling aggro on the first couple packs, I started to just Sleep whatever was last on the order, which, conveniently, tank and dps all seemed to follow my ignore mark on those as well. Felt really strange having marks so efficiently used. I wanted to nudge the tank into more Flash so it wasn't a concern, but the system worked, it meant I could put out more damage, never really had any problems. Was a quiet group; if not for a few comments made I might've thought they were a group of friends that didn't need to chat.

Not an exceptionally exciting run or anything, but I was pretty impressed with how smooth everything went. Especially for Toto-Rak.

To be honest, It was quite stupid, given the Fact I was sitting down (As sort of Provoking them) and let Eos (I never use her to be honest, she has no Place in my Heart, err ya...) heal the entire Time.

The worst thing? When the Tank refused to do something and didn't moved out of the AoEs I kept him alive with ease, only until then when the Boss decides to give you plenty of Debuffs if you're not going into one of the Voidsent Portals so you won't get them normally. That was a sure Way to die for him, well like I said, these things are just a waste of a time and the longer it gets prolonged... the worse it gets, sadly....

Sigh... either I'm hiding on Cerberus and can't find Players who don't care about Healers giving their last resort to get a Run smoothly as possible or there are none at all :x

I honestly feel like this is more of a basic habit drilled into DPS. Follow this EXACT rotation or else, you know?

These are some old stories, because I've only recently come back to the game after almost a year away.

First Story: Haukke Manor normal. I'm playing blm on my alt (the cap at the time being 50 and I played end game blm on a different character.) the run goes fairly well until we get to the final boss. When the two succubi and the manor sentry show up somehow everyone but myself ends up dying. I pop my LB to kill off the remaining adds and proceed to fight Lady Amandine, knowing that this encounter was created before they changed mob casting behavior, allowing me to "Line of Sight" the void fire and void thunder spells. Casting my incredibly weak cross-class cure spell to keep myself alive whenever it was needed I ended up soloing the last 20% of the boss.

Second Story: Wanderer's Palace. I forget why exactly we were doing it, but a couple of friends and I had queued for WP(possibly for one of their anima weapons? I never did the quests for them so I am not sure if it was ever a requirement.) One friend is on her raid tier Healer, the other is on a decently geared BLM and I also am on my raid tier BLM. When the queue pops we discover that our warrior tank has less hp than I do. I tell him "Don't worry about it, but you are going to lose hate to me in every fight." We then proceed to completely mop the floor with the dungeon with me and the other blm bouncing hate back and forth to each other. Afterwards we gave the Warrior some gearing and tanking advice which he seemed to take to heart (or atleast didn't actively begrudge.)

Good times.

I find it weird that so many of you get negative attitude when dpsing as a healer. I have ran 800~ dungeons as a healer and I have never encountered attitudes like that, in fact I think people like it since I get commendations pretty often.

But on topic: I did Sohr Khai yesterday and ran into a black mage that only used his lvl 50 fire rotation. The run still went pretty well although it was a bit slow. In the last boss we nearly wiped though because nidhogg had destroyed every platform but one(I have never seen that happen before). After the boss i asked him if he wanted advice and told him that he should learn his lvl 60 fire iv rotation. He replied with "I have tried and failed many times" to which I said that you should keep trying as it is a great dps boost and that there are good guides out there. He replied with "I don't like guides because I don't like other people telling me how to play the game, but i guess it is starting to be the only option". Before leaving I said that there are usually only 1 way to deal the best damage and he should at least try to learn that, using lvl 50 rotation is such a massive dps lost. He was pretty nice and actually seemed like he would try to learn it so it was not frustrating or anything but I still thought that I would share the experience here.

Did a VA run on my tank to get some gear n stuff since ive only recently gotten them to 60 etc

im literally minimum ilvl so my ability to hold anything other than trash is -4000 with the massive difference between myself and the best dps in the alliances.

Didnt stop the other tanks from trying to sit in dps stance the entire time and fight for MT messing everything up over and over.

they got so engrossed in fighting for Sawtooth dps were dying to the tree hitting them coz i simply couldnt hold it, and then they both died to the IK because their e-peen fight was more important.

likewise they ignored floor markers at final and held snakes together for ages until they realised.

What is it with PLDs and GLAs who refuse to even use Flash, let alone spam it? I know I'm overleveled for most dungeons, and even slightly overgeared at 130, but I can hold an entire pack in even the Aery with nothing more than Circle of Scorn, Flash spam, and using my Riot Blade combo to top off my MP.

So as BLM, roulette drops me into Great Gubal Library, with a sproutling PLD who maybe uses Flash once for each pack of mobs. I've never had to use Quelling Strikes so much, even while going through my AoE combo.

I just thought this was funny. The other day I was in a random roulette leveling dungeon trying to get my comms. My pc decided to overheat in the middle of it. Reboots, have to wait to get back onto Gilgamesh, when I finally get back on I see that I am still in group. YAY! I type in chat, sorry my pc overheated, thanks for keeping me! 2 seconds later, I get booted :P

Did Weeping City yesterday. We wiped on 2nd boss add phase. Why you ask? Because our tank (alliance A) put markers down for the add phase. A was very clearly on the east side, B mid, C on the west. Alliance C tank got very very butthurt that the A marker was on the east side and not the west (as he also went to the big A marker and proceeded to let the other add run free and proceed to kill us all).

The Alliance chat after that wipe was obviously very salty. Alliance C got mad and started calling our tank an idiot for following the markers instead of doing the "norm" and going west for add phase. Even went so far as to change the markers (after everyone in the chat said, who gives a fudge muffin).

It might be the whole "It does no damage", I know for sometime that was my issue, It seems like its good for initial but after that you need your hate combo. I have gotten over that now though. Where as DRK and WAR deal damage while doing an AOE. Might be me though.

It's just bloody stupid to me. That PLD could easily have held aggro from me if he'd just used Flash, but nope, instead I'm tearing aggro away just doing my AoE rotation. Forget going single-target.

There's honestly no need to go through the pain of trying to spread out Rage of Halone combos when Flash will do the job just as well, only without damage. Not to mention, having the tank do their job as a tank, lets the DPS do their job as DPS... without dying.

But that is a false statement really. Flash's ability to gain enmity is WAY lower than RoH combo. Yes, spamming it will keep you with aggro 98% of the time, but if the DPS are hitting REALLY hard, then flash will barely keep the aggro because the build up is actually quite low in comparison. As for the particular PLD you had, I can't say for sure. They may have simply been not paying attention, but AoE makes things much harder for PLD tanks. We don't have an AoE that does dmg, so we attempt to hold aggro as best we can without relying on flash.

Yes, a tanks job is to get aggro and a healers job is to heal, but it's honestly EVERYONE's job to DPS. Knowing when to focus on what is a totally different story however. A good tank will spread out RoH to hold aggro and succeed in doing so. A bad tank will spam flash forever and use riot blade to supply MP. The tank spamming flash however will almost never lose enmity on a mob, but it doesn't mean they're a good tank. In fact, they're being quite useless for the most part.

I'd probably say your tanks were under-geared for the dungeon though. AoE's off the bat on mob pulls is harder to deal with as a PLD. But usually, CoS, 1 flash, and then RoH combo around on everything will hold just fine. So if you're tearing them off after that, it's likely a gear issue on the tank.
