So... that spiderman shirt... (new job tease)

Either way a lot of people will disappointed if we only get two jobs because of Yoshi's Moonfair Faire comment.

I think some at least are wanting a new tank due to the current roster possibly not fitting either their aesthetic, or maybe playstyle. With a new tank comes the chance it'll fit their niche.

I doubt we ever could see a melee-range healer as there exists healer focused mechanics that require you to not be near people, or at least be in a specific position. Even going onward of not having those mechanics anymore, the older content will still exist.

Hum.... I'd like to point out that Dancer in FFXI made an excellent addition to the support role, their DPS would be close to SCH with Cleric Stance on, and their Samba, Waltzs, Steps and Jigs were great and helping out the rest of the party.

There shortages of both Tanks and Healers is due to a (very real) notion that playing as these roles is stressful due to the amount of responsibilities/ expectations placed apon them by the player base. I can only speak as a Tank myself as i have never leveled a Healer, however many a time i have been told any number of "helpful tips" in not so kind a fashion that i wasn't pulling fast enough, the mechanics were not being done right, there was no need to keep defense stance up/ need to increase DPS, ect... All of this mind you was five hours after content patch dropped and release of new dungeons.

As a Tank, you are the leader of the party, you must know the best route, the proper way to engage, take into account party make up, your own comfort at the number of enemies you can safely engage, positioning, resources (your HP, MP, TP). In higher level content the added caveat of other Tanks not taking adds, comes in to play as does to need to take into account of other groups priorities.

Time and again i have said, i want Samurai to be a Tank. It simply fits as few Tank specific jobs in the FF series, (how sad would an eventual implementation of Genji Armor be with a DPS SAM, unable to wear it?) however it's not difficult to see why so many more want it as a DPS. That's what makes que time last for so long, seven of the thirteen(soon fifteen?) currently available jobs are DPS(soon eight?). Take into account that few people want to play these roles (as shown by need of a bonus) and it becomes clear that very simply DPS is the more favored and more abundant role, of course it would be, overall it has the least responsibilities, they very much are a dime a dozen, adding Samurai to that will only saturate an already bloated DPS force. Having such disparity at 4.0 launch (a fresh level 50 DPS) will break game balance ans leave a mess that while sustainable, would be one less head ache should a more reasonable approach be used.

one ranged magical Dps.
One Tank/Healer.

I don't think you understand how bonus incentive works. The tank/healer shortage has nothing to do with the bonus system in the way you describe. If anything, the adventurer in need bonus is not a big enough incentive. You're grossly overestimating the bonus exp acting like tanks level twice as fast because of it (they don't.) Not to mention the incredibly flawed idea of giving those who wait the longest the reward, because all that does is incentivize people to play DPS even more which will only increase the queue times even more.

As it stands, a paltry amount of bonus gold for roulette adventurer in need is not an incentive. SE would do well to change that bonus to something that's actually worth something. If say they added bonus tomestones then we'd likely see an increase in tank queues but for some reason they seem content with their current reward system.

Not even going to address the "b-but the queues" silliness, since it doesn't matter, but Ninjas and Dragoons have repeatedly been able to equip Genji Armor in the past. Put Samurai in the Dragoon weight class (Maiming) and you wouldn't have to worry how "sad" it would be.

Samurai will be whatever the developers decide it should be, but queues are absolutely not going to be the reason for it.

I don't think the issue is that people need a new tank or healer job to continue to enjoy playing an existing tank or healer job. I prefer to tank and will always prefer to tank, and, given the three options, I have settled in on the option I enjoy the most. However, a new tank job means a new job for the role I enjoy, and I might end up enjoying the new option more. If we get only 2 new dps jobs, people who enjoy playing in the tank or healer role do not have as much to look forward to because, even though RDM and whatever else might look cool, they are never going to seriously play those DPS jobs, whereas if a tank or healer job is also released, they have a potential new main job if they end up enjoying the playstyle of that new job.

3 Tank
3 Melee DPS
2 Shooter DPS
2 Caster DPS --(Red Mage added)--> 3 Caster DPS
3 Healer

Or, if you'd prefer:
3 Tanks
3 Melee DPS
4 Ranged DPS --(Red Mage added)--> 5 Ranged DPS
3 Healers

At this point, we don't "need" one of any particular role more than any other, unless someone wants to suggest we need two new Shooters back-to-back. We probably don't need to be brought up to six Ranged DPS in 4.0.

I think everyone should stop with the "need" argument. There was no need of any news jobs in 3.0 too. New jobs are for having options and different gameplay styles. The more the merrier.

Or they're totally trolling us, knowing people would be looking for the data. I find it odd they'd leak SAM themselves before announcing the 2nd job. Considering they trolled us the last time jobs were added.
