My Counter-Argument....
IF, these are what the Female Hrothgar are going to look like...why..Why...WHY are they NOT already in the game?
If they already have their appearance made, if THIS is what they are suppose to look like. Then they are already done, they should have been added to the game YEARS ago.
They should have been put into Shadowbringers. If not then, they should have been added in with the Male Viera in Endwalker.
HECK, if this is how they are going to look, why did the Male Viera come out BEFORE Female Hrothgar? Female Hrothgar were already made!
Also....we should have seen Female Hrothgar in Bozja.

This argument doesn't hold up, or make any sense. To me, thats just a Miqote.
If anything, this picture can just be early Concept art to just tease people. Just like the many different designs we saw of the Au Ra, and then they ended up DRASTICALLY Different then what we 1st saw.

So no, the Mural, and this Picture in the Artbook, does not convince me that this is how they will look.

That Argument is more Halfassed then that picture.
We didnt know what to expect with Au Ra, they are an original Race for FFXIV.
Hrothgar / Ronso at least have the Base: that they are a Beastrace.

Its pretty Clear-Cut how they could/should be designed.
They already made the Males, so They already have a Basis. Deviating from that to make them more human-looking would be a worse mistake then making the Hrothgar to begin with.

I definitely don’t want nr 1 personally, Im not into overly buff characters as women, Id like them to be animal like and muscular (so definitely NOT picture 3 or 4) but not comically strong with such sharp edges :(.

There needs to be something that sets the females apart from the males and that should be the steroidal muscles, make them taller if you wish, make them strong, but please please don’t make me wonder from behind if thats a dude or a lady.

There was a really pretty picture in the thread a while ago where the hrothgal looked like an actual cat face and everything but still kept a feminine body frame and energy, that would be absolutely perfect and they can even buff her up a bit but I feel like picture 1 is too exaggerated.

I'd love if they made one clan look like 1 and the other clan look like 2, but they don't seem inclined on separate models for the clans anymore. Only Hyur and (to a much lesser degree) Miqo'te got any real differences other than colors.

And no race in this game gives me that, but Hrothgar so having that be taken away on the excuse that "women cannot be beastly, cause that is a men only thing" does irrate me. And yes, I do see Miquo'te and Au'Ra as the same thing cause they are. Yugiri was a female Miquo'te with longer ears to give the illusion of horns in ARR. So no, they aren't different, they are Miquo'te, but with scales.

Picture 2 is close, but the eyes are too animal-like and she has too much fur in the face. But body-shape wise she's pretty accurate to what we will get, something very far removed from male hrothgar. Very important also: the slim neck.

The sexual dimorphism between male and female Hroths will be about the same as male and female Roegadyn, aka enormous.

Imagine Ankha but in an FFXIV style with more realistic proportions. She can have a little snout too as long as it doesn't take away from her femininity.

“Accurate to what we will get” how, where did you hear exactly what we will get to make these assumptions? Nobody knows yet for sure, it will be a surprise for all of us no matter the preferences we have.
Each race had concepts and they all look different from the concept art.
I do not believe that they will give us miqo 2.0 because they are already in the game, it will be a massively missed opportunity and a really stupid thing to do as this race is the BEAST race, throwing cat ears on a human face =/= beast and SE knows that, they know their audience when it comes to who plays hrothgar and they know hrothgar isnt for everyone and they will not make it for everyone it’s that simple.

Yeah, they won't be exactly like Miqote, they will be plausibly furry with little snouts and fur. But they will be far removed from the beast-like male Hrothgar, they will be cute, sexy, beautiful and a lot more human-like.

It's my prediction by the way. Look at the difference between male and female Roegadyn to get an idea of how different I envision Femhroths to be from male hroths.

There is still room between picture 2 and a miqo. But picture 2 is pretty close to what I assume we will get, imagine the rest of her body to be slender and human, the torso/legs proportions to be way off from male hrothgar with their super short legs and close to the feminine ideal, like Femroes. The only really beast-like features that will remain on Femhroths are their faces with the little snouts and their fur with some patterns and exotic colorations. So not a Miqote.

I want to remind people again that there is very little to be afraid. This drawing was made and posted by an official SE artist just a few days after the male Viera announcement. And long after both the bozjan mural and blue Miquo'te in the art book.

This is what I want. Is as close to perfect in my eyes. And defenetley worth the wait. Anything more human and it will be a hard pass from me. I don't support any game that does the monster male human-with-different-skin female trope. I expect better from SE.


Also, I want to remind people that during the male viera request thread there were a lot of bad actors that said that male Viera will either be female viera with no chest or male elezen but with bunny ears. Instead SE delivered an amazing model for the male counterpart which not only pleased the fans but was inspired by the art produced by the community. The art for female Hrothgar, while not as numerous, has at the most popular the work of Karmaho or @jumo_3 on Twitter. If anything their depiction is always amazing, and the fans agree.

This is nothing like male Hrothgar nor bestial at all. It's a human body with some fur on it, a tail and and an approachably furry non-animal face.

I guess I'm not understanding what people want. It's going to have two legs, two arms, a head with two eyes, a nose, and a mouth. It will have human-esk hands that can grasp tools, it will walk upright (for the most part), and wear human clothes. there's just no getting around that. Unless when people say "beast-like" they just mean "big"? Or having a lion head on top of the human body with a tail?

I think it's mostly the facial features that everyone is debating about. The placement of male Hrothgar facial features is actually more humanoid than an actual lion face. It's harder to tell unless a comparison is done of a Hrothgar face besides a human and a lion face

A lot of the people excited for female Hrothgar (myself included) are looking for the female equivalent of this, not a taller, hairy Miqo'te, if that makes sense.

They are not the same, but other than the snout which I would chalk up to perspective there is no difference. And booba size.

....Hrothgar Females were going to have a Feminine Human Body regardless. Just like the Males have a Masculine Male Human body. Im not sure how there would be any fear around this.

Thats an artist style, but it still shows a snout / muzzle. A Beast face. Thats all most of us fear wont be done.

Female = more human in that case. Cause the male version of the posted artwork would not be the hrothgar we have in game currently.

I have been playing around with my female Roe alt. And I found some very nice heavy armor glam as well as the Aglaia healing and ranged set that look amazing on her. I can't wait to finally have female Hrothgar in the game and discover what galm suits these ladies best!

Unpopular opinion, but I still feel they could simply allow mounts to be used as battle companions in the open world instead of adding a class. I am a career BST in XI & would have zero issue with this.

BST is in a lose, lose situation. Many want it limited, many do not. BLU ALL OVER AGAIN........

MMO need to think outside the box, instead using "Class" to define every playstyle.

A pet class would be nice if it is well-implemented. I had a concept some time ago for something Mammeteer-like that would work in tandem with their pet like Ranjit does when you fight him.

My concept was for a female Hrothgar Priestess, the weapon would be prayer beads acting as a conduit to call forward a pet (the stronger the conduit, the stronger the pet) and the rotation would be a combination of the Priest and pet abilities. Working as a duo and taking turns to attack. The origin of the art could have risen from the shrine maidens, them all being priestesses, but also able to fight if need be. And since they always had the beads of hand, they started to use them with some old mammets or sentinels and command them as makeshift soldiers. I personally think a set of prayer beads would be a cool starting point for a weapon, and a priestess being the user would just make sense IMO.

The fact is that: they were chosen based of criteria, and race was NOT one of them. Just a significant number of locals there were hroth, but... it's still Ilsabard. There were miqo'te! And we know at least one queen who was neither one nor the other.
Do not exclude that this concept refers to the frescoes and does not give us a "complete" representation. I also find intriguing the way how all shrinemaidens who can become queens, and the Queen herself - since we remembered that! - are depicted with blue paint. This may make sense, given their abilities, yet be a purely symbolic point.

They, being based on femroe (please pay attention to mgar being reused mroe assets and a femroe being a standin for an ACTUAL bozjan queen) will be bulky...ish. They will be the same min/max height as mgar, and will probably only have 8 racial styles despite viera having 12 because being creative with your 1 (uno) nonhuman race is HARD.
Negative: even by 7.0 despite there being mgar in gangos with nonfacelocked hairs, they somehow will not have this fixed for players so in fairness femgar will also be facelocked.
Positive: Femgar will get access to more mogstation hair options on release bc they havent designed male specific hairs for mogstation since THANCRED in hw.
Negative for mgar: femgar have to be cute to appeal to the Lowest Common Denominator so they will have humanoid heads and thereby have hat access. You may ask "but viera cant wear hats" aaah but you see the only fantasy-trait viera have is their ears (no little bunny tails because......ok) and since 80% of hats lob off Miqote ears, viera will never have hats because they arent going to make earholes for viera if they cant do it for half of all pc's in the game.

This is pretty much what I expect, but God do I wish for better on both male Hrothgar and female Hrothgar sides. At least a decoupleing of hairstyles from faces by 7.0

Apologies for derailing the topic about an aside on viera tails lol but I gotta say that I'm pretty sure the rationale here was that... they just don't have tails in any of the Ivalice games to begin with (the closest they came were the ornamental "tails" tacked onto their bodices in FFXII).

That said, I'm pretty sure there was concept art that did show they considered tails at some point during development despite that, so maybe they were just pretending they gave a shit about the inevitable clipping issues it would've created.

Vieras never had tails, and they originate from a sprite graphics turn-based strategy game, where clipping is literally impossible because all sprites were hand-made, while the point around hats is indeed BS and most people would be happier if they just let ears clip through hats regardless of how they looked, the point about tails isn't really about caring or not caring about clipping.

They also had more bestial hands and feet in concept art, though this was also inconsistent, their claw-like hands remained in the default race concept art, but they were gone from the concept art of some Viera-exclusive jobs like Summoner, so I suppose even back then, you are supposed to understand that the claw-like hands are something they can trim down.

I wasn't suggesting clipping was an issue in the FFT games lol. The concept art I was referring to was for FFXIV, which is where clipping could conceivably be a concern.

I apreciate the enthusiasm for Viera having/not having tails and claws. But let's not derail a female Hrothgar thread for that. (Let's not derail any thread for that. Just make a new one if you want to discuss it)
I do like viera, especially after making an alt that is one. But my hope for this thread is to be consistent on the topic. We got their confirmation that they are making them, that was great news, could have been better with some concept art as well, just saying...
But at this point in time, there is no need to argue over their appearance. Their models are most likely done and their animations are going through the possibly last touches. I know how I want them to look and am pretty sure everyone else has a mental image of them. All we can do is wait for the reveal. And while I am completely conscious that we might get the art of The Queen in the book, I prefer to belive that SE has heard us and has seen the amazing fan art that the comynity has made. And possibly changed direction with them to adjust them to more of what the people want.
A part of me has this head cannon that this is why they didn't release toghether with male Viera, they saw what the comunity wanted and pulled it back to make adjustments. But again, no proof, just a head cannon.
