Seriously, Weeping City of Salt needs a name change to Weeping City of Carry.
Every run I've had there's at least one individual for the final boss (only really get to notice it at this point as you don't really need to focus on the fight quite so much) who is clearly being carried by their party and gets away with it.

Last night there was a Bard who had the nerve to set themselves to follow on a very active melee in their party and just go AFK until the end of the battle where miraculously they found life and emote spammed a few people I presumed were in their party. Then last week another alliance member hovered around the gate, answered the ready check, and then purposefully got themselves locked out claiming they were 'Watching Netflix' which is why they were locked out....

It rubs salt in the wounds when they hang around at the end to 'get their much deserved loot'. GG. You clearly worked so hard for that rare minion.. RNGesus seems to favour the lazy too so there's a high chance they will get what they want :(
I know it's not a new concept, but makes me question. Why are you playing a game you clearly don't want to play/can't be bothered to play?

Thankfully it was only Hard not Ex, I think I would have thrown my controller out of my window if it was on Ex! I'm a bit of a geek and if I'm doing a new raid I always check a guide and make notes before I join the queue for it. Having a rough idea what to do before getting in there really does help, especially for one like Ramuh...knowing when to move to a targeted player with terror to help remove it, getting on the adds immediately, leaving the electric orbs for tethered players and not attacking if tethered etc.

There's just too much to tell new players in the party before it starts xD Research might be geeky but it sure does come in handy!

Just had an interesting run of Steps of Faith. Came in in progress at 0 minutes to a party of 4 dps. It took a long time for us to get a full party, but not because there wasn't anyone joining. There were plenty of people joining. It only took as long as it did because everyone who joined almost immediately left again. In 8 minutes we went though probably 6 dps, 7 tanks and 5 healers before we finally got a few that stuck around long enough to make a full party. After which we proceeded to steamroll Vishap before he even reached the second tower.

Tis a good thing. Too many don't do that now-a-days. And on Ramuh Ex, orbs become a very big deal. Especially on a sync'd run. Tanks need to swap and get surge protection (3 orbs). Leaving orbs around will cause the lightning strikes to get more powerful (so you don't want to leave them around too long and have others grab them) and you still need 3 for breaking tethers as well as timing with tanks so they don't get massacred by Ramuh's attacks. It's better to look for a premade group no doubt if you can ^^

It must have been Steps of Faith night. We got into one with a couple new people and a tank and DPS left immediately. Wiped without a full party, rerolled and got Final Steps. We had a wipe there with a new healer, but they nailed it on the second try.

Ramuh's beard does creep me out.... but the fight isn't that hard. I actually enjoy kicking his creepy old butt.

The last couple of runs I've done, theres always that one pt that wipes to easy mechanics and is dead the whole run, yet they try to blame everyone else. Last week while trying to get my weekly loot, everything was going fine on Ozma, he gets to about 5% and suddenly my pt has all the adds on us. I look over at the other pts and they're all dead, not a clue what happened o.o One pt proceeds to yell at the other two for "placing meteors wrong". Well, we try again and to no surprise, the pt who was complaining about everyone else, was the one placing meteors wrong lol Let's just say, that whole run, that pt was dead usually within 2-3 minutes of a fight, to nothing.

Also, their entire pt couldn't kill a single void fire before it exploded...twice.

I try to tell a friend this, but he insists on waiting until the last day or two to do things because "I have all week", then proceeds to complain how terrible everyone is lol Sure, you do have all week, but the further it gets into the week, the higher the chance of having complete fail pts. I mean, just go back and look at some of my DF horror stories of being in full pts of overgeared people with no new person message, where only me and sometimes one other person knows what to do...

Weeping City of Mhach: Today was first time I not die against Forgall. Also without deaths against Ozma. But I continued dying a lot against Calofisteri x.x I still do not manage to decorate the mechanics there >.< After phase where she summons multiple Bijous and Small Bijous, my destiny seems always die. Well, lately I only enter as bard there. Then at least I to play a mp song for healers XD After try again, because still lack 1 gear for complete bard set.

There are 2 main things that can kill you against Calofisteri. The first is her Haircut ability, which hits the entire arena on one side of the boss (it's usually a half-room AoE, but that depends on boss positioning - I've seen her hit the entire room with it because the tank was tanking her sideways at one edge of the arena). This happens relatively quickly if you go by the "orange marker", but if you actually watch Calofisteri, she has a Tell for it: One of her hairs will turn into a giant blade several seconds before the AoE marker comes out. Get on the opposite side of her from the blade to avoid the AoE.

The second thing that can kill you against her are those things that trap players and cast Garrote. The trick to avoiding these is to stay away from both the orange AoE marker and the purple AoE that gets left afterwards. Away as in at least the half the width of the orange marker or the full width of the purple one away, because if you're closer than that someone else standing in them will get you trapped as well.

In addition to the above poster's advice, watch out for the flowers. If they're a bulb shape, the safe zones are on the edge of the arena, in the spots above the spaces between them.

During the latter half of the fight, Calo will cast Penetration - which will pull you towards her if you're facing her, and push you back if you're not - at the same time as these flowers appearing. Run to the safe spots while keeping your back to her until it's finished.

When axe flowers come up, hug the stem. (If both bulb and axe appear, you can hug axe and still be safe from bulb.) If it's a thin, bladed flower (they appear at the edges of the arena), stay away from the middle.

And it should go without saying at this point, but don't stand in front of her when she's casting Depth Charge.

Now I entered in progress against Ozma, but raid had success and I managed to survive against Calofisteri. Well, sometimes my HP was very low, but good healers around and ilv 223 help me.

I had a pretty good Weeping City run. It was smooth and with almost no complications. Someone on B Team flung themselves off the edge in that second between Ozma dying and the trampoline forming. But then we got to Calofisto and something happened with C Team. It's like they stopped trying or something. And they had magnets in the ass attracted to the hair jail. They sprung almost every single one.

You know, I always have better runs on monday than on tuesday so I always wait now lol.

To keep my sanity in this Eso TOme grind for Anima Weapon i sometimes make Jokes about things when running Research Facility. Here are some during some of my countless runs....

Another Different Run....

Tank: Hey healer stop spamming Broil and heal me.

Me: Guess he likes them Flamed Broil.

Other DPS member: Darn it you made me spit my drink on my computer screen.

Stone Vigil. Healer is gone before I even load in. Tank waits a little bit before bailing too. Other DPS waits a little longer, decides waiting for a new tank and healer may as well re-queue. But I'm patient, I wanna see what happens. Another DPS loads in and bails. Get one more, a Mentor Dragoon. He loads in as I decide to goof around and try seeing if I can kill the first group of mobs by repeatedly respawning and throwing myself at them. DRG seems up for it too as he joins in, we start killing things one by one. It's absurd, but I figure if we can at least make it to the first boss, I'm counting it as a win. Thankfully a Mentor Paladin shows up before that, after we've killed a small handful of trash, and a Scholar shortly after. Now we can get somewhere. Chugging along, having some fun. SCH disconnects at one point, router problem or something. After waiting/dancing a few minutes we decide to go back to the "throw your corpses at them until they die" strategy (actually PLD just forgot about some surprise ice sprites), but SCH makes it back in shortly after and we finish up.

It wasn't anything spectacular in any sense, really. But it was a pretty fun group, no stress, just having a good time. Everyone was a little disappointed we're all on different servers and won't get to team up again.

The tank kept removing my regen in the middle of fights, like, 3 seconds after I used it, which made bosses and fights more annoying than they should be, since they took damage like a wet paper bag. Then they "d/c"... lol

Another thing with this I sometimes forget to check myself as i go to move away from depth charge.
Make sure you are also not on the side with the hair blade when you avoid depth charge.
Ive had a couple of times where she depth charged and used haircut right after and I died because I didnt see which side had the blade when she was charging

Tbf, I think it was only a few deaths before people were in and we got rolling, not really enough to do all that much gear damage. (does gear take damage when you die? I thought durability only went down as you gained experience)
But also I keep my crafters on par, with a supply of dark matter at all times.

I did learn one interesting thing from the experience, though. I didn't really expect to get anywhere, as I expected all the mobs to pull together in each group, like you usually see. But, Idunno if it was because of DoTs still ticking, or because I respawned right nearby, or whatever else, but I found that the mob I was targeting before dying could be peeled away from the rest of the group. So after dying once, it started getting a little easier to grind them down.

I queued for Mentor Roulette and got an inprog pop for WP. I load in to two lonely DPS swearing in the party chat (I thought it was at each other for a minute). Turns out their healer d/c'd and the tank left as soon as the healer got the boot... which was right as I was loading in. I run over to the DPS (they're almost in front of the first boss). The Ninja is a greenie and the Bard has a HW title. So I pop Adlo on them and charge into the next set of mobs.

"WE'RE A STRONG INDEPENDENT PARTY WHO DON'T NEED NO TANK."

The three of us do the first boss easily. The BRD's brother is a tank and queues inprog and gets us. We end up missing an oil at one point and have to run around and go find it, lol. The tonberry catches up to us a couple times and kills poor Selene with stabs and then comes at me. But I just run around in circles while the DPS kill stuff, lol.

We finish the run and everyone says good bye. They were a nice party and I wish I could commend more than one person. It was a pretty fun Mentor Roulette.

And shame on you Mr. Tank (if you ever read this) for abandoning those poor DPS. They were so sweet and their DPS was fine, what's the matter with you?! >:c

I think leveling roulette hates me. So, my wife and I have done our duty roulettes off and on for the past week or two with two FC mates who are leveling MCH. Highest dungeon we've gotten was... Haukke, I think. The past two days, it's been Halatali. Déjà vu jokes were made, chuckles were had. I'm sure it's just bad luck with the roulette, but getting dungeons rated at half the level of our lowest job level in the party fairly consistently seems a bit silly.

Level 50 Roulette dumps me, as a PLD, into WPalace with a newbie WHM. They're watching cutscene, which I don't mind. Almost got me killed on the very first pull, because they were in Cleric Stance and for some reason couldn't be bothered to look at chat where I was telling them to switch out. But fine, I lived.

They didn't make the same mistake again. As we go on, I advise them to avoid throwing Regen on me in the middle of a pull, because that's dangerous. I stopped before and after every pull to tell everyone exactly how much I was pulling and where I was going to run to. After second boss, in which the boss randomly targeted the WHM, and he ran around the room, forcing me and the NIN to run after it, I wrote, using these exact words, "it would be nicer if you could not lead a target away when I'm trying to hit it". I never once swore, used abusive language, or yelled at the WHM. I certainly didn't call him any names.

At the end of the run, what do I get for this? According to the MCH, telling the WHM what to do, as well as what I'm going to do, warning them about various mechanics and where giant tonberries spawn, means I have a God complex as a tank who intimidates and bosses people around, and that I'm an "asswipe".

I never wondered why tanks are in such short supply, but now I wonder even less.

The healer that DC'd was probably the tanks friend that they were qued with. So he felt he would rather leave to go join back up with that friend rather then continue the dungeon run without them. Since there was no guarantee that their friend would be able to join in progress que into the run.

AV is like, 400k exp if you kill EVERYTHING in it. I remember I took a bet and lost when I said I didn't believe it =\ It's such a pain of a dungeon, but it will level you pretty darn quickly.

Once in VA, I spoke up to defend the newbies in the raid because one of the alliances was rushing into fights before others could hear mechanics from their teammates (and people were dying left and right and we wiped at the dog/tree boss). The rushers were trying to skip mechanics with DPS, but due to the new players, we didn't have great DPS (so basically, we were failing that strategy...). Well.... after I spoke up, both the newbies and the elitists all ganged up on me to say i'm an ahole :<

The good news... I seemed to have united the two groups to mutually hate me and work together in that endeavor :<

I'm pretty sure they weren't together. The DPS said the tank had been rude to everybody before he left, it's what they were arguing about when I got in. :x

Trying out the AST class for the first time in Haukke Manor, with a sprout tank and an overgeared MNK (lvl 60 in i240 gear). We eventually kick the tank because he gets frustrated and throws a tantrum and starts dancing around the entryway, tired of monsters being pulled off him. Felt bad about it, having tanked in WoW for 4.5 years and knew what he was going through, but the show must go on I guess. Then for the cherry on top, the MNK decides to pull the final boss without a tank and we 3-man it. Surprisingly we killed her, with the other DPSer only dying on my watch once, but I'm now one step closer to having to buy another controller, after practically manhandling my current one. Definitely one for the books.

Well, not exactly. The way they phrased it, it was clear the MCH thought of themself as a white knight, defending the poor little WHM from the big bad tank. Funny part, they spent their time calling me an asswipe, but couldn't be bothered to type a single word of advice for the WHM during the entire run. >_>

Based on this, I can only conclude that what I should have done was to completely ignore the WHM healing in Cleric Stance, letting everybody die, tell the WHM absolutely nothing at all about the dungeon, and basically be no help whatsoever. I really wonder what's wrong with some people, who can take the simplest, most polite phrasing I use, and turn it into some sort of sarcastic attack on them.

Seriously, if you queue up for roulette you should be prepared to do whatever you get assigned.

I ran Sohr Khai as a Summoner, the other day. The run started out as normal; a couple token hello's and off we went. After pulling the first group, I dropped my Shadow Flare. I noticed the tank moved himself and the mobs out of the area of effect. I didn't think much of it, as I assumed he was dodging enemy AoE's like a good little tank. However, after I repositioned my Shadow Flare, the tank moved out of it again!

At this point, the healer in the group, a Scholar, laughed and dropped his own Shadow Flare. The tank moved a third time. I chuckled, but didn't worry much, as Shadow Flare wasn't exactly critical to my damage output. The tank then says, "Damn, why are there so many AoEs? I can't even land my moves!"

The healer laughed again and said, "Those are ours. They damage the mobs."

The tank didn't believe us and said, "They are too big to be your guys. And Ive never seen them before."

The healer said, "Well, I'm over geared for this zone. You stand in them, do your moves, and I'll promise to keep you alive." The tank agreed, and later praised the scholar on their ability to save them through 2 different deadly blue AoE puddles...

All player paced AoEs are blue unless class thematic coloring is involved, all mob AoEs are orange unless its thematic coloring to the boss.

tank took only aggro from 1 mob
dps thankfully hammered away
healer tanked and kited all the other mobs including the boss throughout the whole dungeon.

healer was me.
never used so much sprint in 1 dungeon.
