Honestly, Western Town is the only good section in MSQ, precisely because it doesn't have Wuk Lamat in it so the writers can actually use all the characters to make something interesting.
They didn't make anything interesting. It's literally just a cheap ripoff of literally any western story. It doesn't even feel like it makes sense or belongs. The entire story could be stolen from some cheap JRPG from the ps2 andit would be pretty much identical, "high tech" with glowing lasers on it and shitty robot boss at the end and all.
The memes have always been cringeworthy and I like them that way, unironically. It's MMORPG appropriate.
I saw that too right now. xD
The best part for me is that it comes from r/ffxiv and has so many upvotes.
Times really have changed.
I have read a comment somewhere that Wuk Lamat's barking in at the last trial should have given us a debuff.
Is this the Battle for Azeroth of FF14? Is Woke Lameass our Sylvanas?
Is this the beginning of the end?
I liked it because
We got to spend time with Erenville and see Estinien, and honestly the section with throwing the dung in the campfire to summon the pterodactyl things was absolutely hilarious. It felt like we were actually stirring up some chaos and... y'know, adventuring, doing unexpected things, actually living in the world and interacting with it.
My main gripe with MSQ, as someone who doesn't have very high storytelling standards, pretty much just boils down to not being allowed to do anything that didn't involve Wuk Lamat, so being liberated from playing babysitter, even if for a little bit, was actually really nice.
If it's any consolation, the last trial is absolutely amazing in the first half and honestly some of the most fun out of normal mode content I've had in a while. I knew we were gonna be in for a good time when a single non-knockback mechanic killed 5 people, including a tank.
