Minions were never advertised to do much. The whole idea was to have them on display somewhere. Scion fans could have them all in one area. Maybe you have another area for your favorite voidsent or vegetables.

I admit I was really skeptical if Island Sanctuary was gonna be all that.
The Devs made me eat my words, I love this calming content and its not really boring either. ^^
Right, but it was implied to be a bit more mischievous. lol It would have been nice to see the same interactions between certain minions that they do outside of IS.

Vid shows the interaction. I would love to see them do stuff like this on our islands. This was what I was expecting, just to clarify my stance on this.
Just in case this isn't common knowledge:
You can have only ten harvested nodes at any time. If you gather an 11th, the oldest one you previously collected will spawn again, dropping the total to ten. Time does not seem to be a factor, at least in the 10 minutes I've been watching.
So, if you're picking an area with only 8 nodes of something you need, and more of items you don't need, it will be faster to just collect three more unneeded items to make the respawn cycle start in that area, instead of riding off somewhere else.
Example: The hemp patch around 29, 23 has nine hemp nodes. Rather than run off to the other side of the river after picking them all, just gather two more other nodes of anything in the same area to start the hemp respawning in the same order you collected it.
You can gather fish after rock salt. I did that the other night since both things are pretty close together and got around 300 of each after a bit more than 3h while watching 2 movies.
Finished the island sanctuary yesterday, didnt really rush nor grind it to hell. I took my time. Overall experience: was nice and pretty chill content. Though, wish it would of been more lasting. Suppose, all thats left are the automatons?
I just hope the future updates to the island sanctuary are going to add more little features and enhance exploration.
Things I do like are:
The small details really, like when collecting wood or rocks - disappearing infront of you felt pretty new to me, kinda refreshing.
Mammets being a good "excuse" to introduce auto-gathering and workshops.
Allowing us to catch various animals/monsters.
Things I'd like to see in the future:
Let us design and arrange our OWN island, don't restrict creativity and individuality.
Add more buildings with proper functions. I dont quite understand why we had to build 3-2 workshops/granaries, if we could simply upgrade them further (IV,V,VI) and have the same effects. Why not build huts for storage, fishing, crafting, etc. Is my island bag that infinite that I can carry 1000 isle rocks with me?
Add more secret/hidden spots - advance exploration! A huge map means nothing if it can be smaller but more complex and well structured!
Add visitors such as selling merchants or special traders which allow us to trade various mats.
Add a skill tree to enhance foraging, harvesting, mining etc.
Add puzzles and riddles to further increase exploration experience.
Turn the sprint duty action into permanent sprint like in PVP.

I forgot to mention that I love how the minions all say stuff! It was such a cool surprise! I think my favorite speech bubbles are the ones for Ardbert, Clockwork Solus, and the Bridesmoogle!
Someday, I would enjoy regular size chickens to put in the fields to go along with the chocobos.
I've been having a lot of fun with it and I'm excited to see what additions are made, in time. I love hanging on my island with FC friends because it has such a different atmosphere than the housing wards.
In retrospect I'm not sure why, but I had imagined my minions would appear larger on the island than they do when normally summoned. It seems I'm not alone in that, and it would be nice to have the option even if it meant having fewer out at once. That's really the only specific thing I wish for, but I assume they'll be adding/tweaking the content with future updates.

i have a my squad members maxed out i want to train more with out loosing the ones I've put the time into
plus have them guard/ train/ recuperate on your island would be nice
even rank it up increasing the number of squadron members you can move over

I really enjoy seeing all the minions out and about, and it's as close as I'll probably ever get from this game to a way to just "hang out" with the Scions beyond those couple EW cutscenes. I honestly think the island is good content if you're using it the way it was intended: nice light content and a pretty space to chill in while you wait in pf or dps queue. It's very relaxing when you need a break. Plus, it's literally just the first go of the content. Another 10 years from now, I'm sure there's gonna be way more to the islands than we have today. Just gotta be patient as the content is developed.
My one major complaint at the moment, related, is that I need them to put a mender on the island. If I'm meant to do this in between roulettes and whatever, then it's a serious hassle that I have to leave in order to do gear maintenance for the next fight.
is auto care for animals and crops worth it? or should I keep with the up care?
Also note that certain foliage and what's currently purely cosmetic decorations in the world are in very specific areas such as the little shelves you can only get to once you unlock flying.
It looks like they made a lot of room to "grow" beyond what they initially released.
it cost 10 cowries for each animal so 200 pr day isn't bad. If you don't wanna deal with it or have multiple alt islands I suggest using the system. I have a Fc with 4 alt members. 2 are level 10 and 3 are level 9. Manually feeding is nice but no not 100 times a day I'd die 1st. I've grinded so much there a hole in the ground that reaches the other side of the world. I hope I dosen't cause a calamity. :(

I am 80% certain supply and all is Server wide not char specific. So if everyone is making a certain something expect supply to increase quite a bit. It would certainly explain why some of the things I think about making are turning to surplus and overflowing so quickly.
This island has been one of the highlights of the patch for me. I'm about 3 days away from flying now, after which I'll hire mammets to take care of animals and plants and start buying all the cosmetic rewards. I'll go back to grinding PvP, S ranks and FATEs again, which are all less fun than the island has been.
Some feedback: I wish there were more upgrades on the granaries/workshops and less buildings overall. The mammets should be hidden inside the buildings. The landmarks could look nicer and be scattered around the island as statues, beautiful hangout spots and jumping puzzles. I was hoping to earn some more functional elements like a weather watcher, hidden caverns with rare spawns of the rare mats or rare chest spawns with cowries in it.

Overall, the content we have so far is fine I guess. Not impressed by it nor do I hate it.
After completing all the facilities/upgrades I do find that most structures aren't visually appealing. I only like the tree house and the light house.
Which then lead to my question: Does having different landmarks affects the groove? Can I have all the same ones and still get the maximum amount?
I'm only in it for the mounts/hairstyles so it's time I can focus on getting enough currency for them.
Yeah, I noticed that too. Along with multiple remarks (completed-state chat dialogue and a few in the early stages) about how wonderful it is to get rid of all the trees. And even lampshades that the Curious Courier has no point except to announce that you have a message from Tataru. It's like the writers know how awful and out-of-sync with the "one with nature on your private island" base concept they've gotten, and now they're rubbing our faces in it.
Seriously, why is the courier even there? It stood utterly useless the whole time until we got to a quest started by interacting with the Furball, who tells us to speak to the courier to receive a message, it delivers the message and that is all. Utterly pointless and taking up space.

If you're earning at least 20k a week from the workshop, automated crops and pasture is worth it:
1. Consistent planting/gathering of crops by Mammets. Each gardening mammet can hold a max of 50 crops.
2. Consistent feeding/gathering of animals/leavings by pasture mammets. Each caretaker mammet can hold up to 20 leavings.
3. Not having to manually plant/harvest and feed/gather yourself - those clicks take up time each day.
4. Reduced disruptions to the care of crops/animals due to irl or in-game circumstances.
I've automated crops/pasture and granaries on 7 days.
So that's -400/day
But when you're earning 20k a week from workshop, -400/day is a pittance for QoL.
By using the Island Sanctuary discord and its resources, even the workshop can be set in advance currently for Cycles/Days 4-7. Eventually, I assume, the solver/community will find a way to predict for all 7 days.
Cycle 1 is always rest day.
