iolite. The ring was found on the assissant after an failed attempt of
assassination against Garlean emperor along with a short message:
"My heart had sunk with 5 holes you (Garlean Emperor) created to my
life. I will capture you with my darkness and pierce your cold heart
with my arrow of justice."

I agree with what you are saying. Im talking within the context of a community competition where everyone is on the same boat with similar interests. There should be no room for negative stuff in this thread

I have to wonder... are they going to disqualify people for going over the character limits? Or adding text stories to their pictures?

Personally I was very careful to adhere to the guidelines, but some people do not seem to be doing so?

As an artist, you need to learn to take criticism with a grain of salt, no matter how "Negative" you perceive it to be, others see things that you might miss in your work, it might not be the sugar and rainbows that you want to hear but in the long run, you end up being better in the end.
