Most people don't remember that food buffs wore off when you died. You used to have to wait for CDs to come back up after wiping. Prog was delayed so much if the PLD used hallowed ground just before a party wipe and they needed that skill in their rotation early on.
Beast tribe currencies used to be in your inventory. Gear used to drop directly from savage bosses, not coffers, and there were no tokens. You just had to keep praying the pieces you needed would eventually drop. -

Anyone that has been playing this game since pre-EW and definitely pre-ShB should be aware that patch cycles are very much formulaic. And if someone was expecting something else, then they probably aren't aware that this game has been like this since 2013. -
