Maybe Japanese people never saw that, and therefore it's new for them. We'll get something different anyway, same for German and French people =)

Translator Job Description
Translators convert written material from one or more 'source languages' into the 'target language', ensuring that the translated version conveys the full meaning of the original as clearly as possible. The target language is usually the translator’s mother tongue.
Job duties and tasks
1) Check original texts or confer with authors to ensure that translations retain the content, meaning, and feeling of the original material.
2) Check translations of technical terms and terminology to ensure that they are accurate and remain consistent throughout translation revisions.
3) Proofread, edit, and revise translated materials.
And Japanese > English is well known with having certain things mistranslated not being of lack of proof reading but because of the nature of the native language (Japanese.) It's mostly the English language is very literal when it comes to certain terms, since in actuality it is 'new concept art' being released, but of course people expected it to be 'never before seen concept art' when regarding the term "new.'
If they said 'never before seen', then we'd have a problem.
