Removal of Surnames

I didn't like the idea of surnames at first, I like to really think about these things to make sure I don't get stuck with a name I end up hating and I never had to consider a surname for any of my characters before. Once I finally came up with a name I quite like it now.

I can see the benefits of having surnames, I wouldn't have been happy if I couldn't of had Melantha as my character's first name so having surnames mean that would never be a possibility - I will always be able to have whatever first name I want. However I do think it would've been a good idea to make it optional because many of the NPCs only have one name so it seems weird that our characters can't have one name too.

Well naturally a good critic will need to play a game rather extensively in order to get a good feel for how everything fits together. But unless you're actually writing a review, you do NOT need to have an extensive amount of knowledge about all the game's inner workings to determine whether or not the game is any fun. THAT can be determined in a rather short amount of time.

Seriously, I don't understand why you're insisting that all names need to have a consistent format in order to be remembered. They don't. People can still remember different names just fine, even if the format of those names is not always consistent.

Meh, semantics.

I like having surnames. Sure they make it harder to /tell someone, but I think they give my character more meaning. I really don't care if anyone else likes my name, because I didn't do it for them. It has meaning to me and creates a greater affinity between me and my character.

If youre called just "Alizeilaronetsunakashima" you think that your name would be cool and it would be easy to wright?

Just name your character "A" "B" if you want a cool easy name.
Surenames are a must for the game if if many people wanna use the same name.

keeping tabs on every aspect that involves one's job is pretty much a given. It's not needed to play every game to keep tabs on their general status and on updates.

No. Review scores are an arbitrary way to synthetize something that should not be synthetized, simply because it's too complex. Considering the state of gaming journalism at the moment, the fact that most journalists play games an extremely limited amount of time in order to review more games (and get more money, since they're paid by the page or by the article in 99% of cases), the fact that professionalism in gaming journalism is very, very rare (as most journos are amateurs with no professional education, or even a basic concept of professional integrity), which leads to biases, overly personal point of vies and double standards, when not even to indirect corruption, scores are not a valid way, for a customer, to assess the validity of a game.

Aren't we talking about review scores? So yeah, we're talking about "actually writing a review". You cannot review a MMORPG decently without getting at the very least halfway to the initial cap. Most reviewers that gave very low scores to FFXIV can be exposed in their level 10 characters just by looking at the lodestone.

Sorry if this has been stated already but after getting to page 7 and watching the back and forth between Abrieal and Rhianu I couldn't be bothered to read any more.

Anywho, in regards to the /tell mechanic, I'd like to see a nickname option that we can use in lieu of their full name. So if Rhianu doesntwantalastname was my friend, I could nickname him something like, Oh I dunno, Galka instead and use that as a shortcut.

My irl name is Zavier and I wanted to use this for my first name, I never get it though because of boys named Zavier (I'm a girl pronounced Zah Vee Air, boys ways is zay vee air) So I only like it because I can have my first name. Plus irl I've never met a Zahveeair, and barely a zayveeair, but in game theres like 2848924 lol. I do not agree with joke names, that comes from the fact that this game has lower standards of intelligence compared to XI.
