I'll be seeing all of you in Frontline.
Oh, I thought you meant the other event.
I already have 30+ tomes. I'll have all my emotes by the end of my next day off.
Well, if I go for everything I don't have, that's 590 tomes. The question now is how much of it I actually care to grind for. We'll see.
The Rising quest was enjoyable.
The first letter in the post-quest list definitely made me laugh unintentionally though. The very first message you can read speaks about the importance of the forums and it just feels so hollow when they never reply to anything here.
it must be very hard to do that when for the last few months we have had nothing but "noise", static, abuse and a small clique of people shouting down anyone who dared disagree with their harsh, cynical, jaded and utterly hostile attitude.Quote:

I was actually surprised some of the more...vitriolic..people were allowed to go on for this long. To my mind, what we see now with those "voices' gone is more conducive to actual communication on game issues. I have never been one for harsh moderation, but to my mind? in this case a broom was sorely needed.
Maybe in the future we will see more better avenues for them to talk to us now a more...pleasant....atmosphere prevails.
Ive done both parts of the Rising now, it was wonderful and uplifting. The mount is magnificent. Maybe, before we look at what they have to say and ask why they dont talk to us, ask yourself if recently they had any reason to do so
I get feedback, i get dissatisfaction in some areas of the game, sure. Nothing is perfect, it never will be.
FF 14 isnt perfect, but it is again heads and tails better than a lot I have seen over the years . I for one respect YoshiP and his team, they have worked tirelessly to give us a damned enjoyable gaming experience. There has been, to my knowledge, never been an event like this in other MMO's...so with all respect to my colleagues and fellow Warriors of Light...I submit that communication is a two way street.
Thank you for proving my point. The gameplay in FF 14 has been this way since ARR and before. But you knew that already.
I personally am enjoying the game immensely,. absolutely loved Endwalker and its story, have enjoyed the expac and its many features. Endwalker to me has been a success and was worth every moment.
Im honestly sorry you dont share that feeling.
I wasnt here for 1.0, sadly. My experience started in ARR...so tell me, what changed?Quote:
I've been there since the closed alpha of 1.0. What you're saying is factually wrong.
As far as "before ARR", the battle system was completely different with a stamina bar and more akin to a beefed up FFXI.
ARR had way more customisation options when it came to stats (though, those were mostly superfluous). MP, TP and aggro management were a thing till ShB. Role actions also weren't a thing in ARR. You had cross job skills that you got from leveling other jobs. The list goes on.
If you watch old YT videos from like a few expansions ago the game is barely recognisable anymore. Whether you like the changes or not (I don't), the gameplay is quite different. I wouldn't go so far as to say it's a completely different one (if we exclude 1.0), but saying nothing has changed? If nothing got significantly altered, then why are all jobs slowly eroded to fit into the new-ish status quo? Looking at you, PLD.
The game has a bad habit of "QoL" so incessantly they remove entire gameplay features and only now are people starting to see the writing on the wall after DPS are being pruned as well.
I do wish XIV's holiday events had more actual...gameplay tied to them.
WoW's tended to be multi-layered with combat-related activities, goofy minigames, and other stuff to give them longevity past the initial story quests.
I stopped doing these events ages ago. It's the same oversimplified stuff but now with a slightly different token at the end. Neither challenging nor entertaining. So it's perfect for the average MMO player. lol It's like beast tribes but with FOMO and those I can only endure while listening to a podcast.
Payadopa, you are about to give me PTSD over here. Thank god we dont have the fatigue system anymore and how crafting and gathering was. Don't get me started on that UI and could not even jump. I ran back to WoW after that.
I can understand that people want more gameplay during events like this (The Rising 2018 was the best one). But in my honest opinion, I am totally fine with that because I love stories and stuff like this make me happy.
I started in Nov. 2021. Pretty much as soon as I hit lvl 50, an 80 NIN and RDM offered to carry me through coils unsynched, just for the story. I've since paid the favor forward many times over. I think everyone should see it.
Whatever your opinion on legacy can you imagine 2023 square enix actually making an event like the rising 2018
Yeah lets just recreate half the world from legacy including it’s world events, music and the fall of dalamud and just make it a seasonal event you can do
yes did Aglaia in like forever. Not suprised, but kinda funny how bosses die before they get to actually do their mechanics properly
How very glib.
If anything that's sad, not funny. If I were a new player I'd stop playing if I had to sit through ARR till EW getting bosses that die within their introductory monologue. Bonus points if the MSQ hyped them up for 20 hours. Do people also enjoy movies where the main antagonist dies off screen within the first 30 minutes only for the actors to shuffle about for another hour? lol I don't think this is even remotely acceptable but in XIV it's praised. By all means, make them soloable through trusts or whatever but at least stop dumbing them down to the point of caricature.
That doesn't answer my original question (where was all this alleged additional content I don't recall from the 2018 Rising event) but also doesn't make sense in itself.
If the way to get this content is so cryptic that you can't even tell me what it is, it is clearly not in the game.
And New Game Plus is for replaying content that currently exists in the game, which 1.0 content – if that's what you're alluding to – is not. But you aren't explaining yourself so I can only make wild guesses at your meaning.
“Event” /10char
i wish they would change this event up praetorium is the worst content in the game they need to add another dungeon one that doesnt take a lifetime to complete that gives the same amount of tomes as prae
"watch a movie for 20 minutes back to back" simulator
"event"
lmao
