Port Jeuno congestion

Since Phoenix got merged with Titan, Port Jeuno has become very congested to the point where I can't log in my char that is logged out in Port Jeuno. I can log on my alt and I see 746 people in Port Jeuno which is over the max I believe so the game just hangs at the downloading data screen.

Can something be done about this? Not being able to log in because of this is a problem.

you just have to wait till it calms down, was the same on my server last year in WG after the merge. Died down after a few days.

But it wont likely die down as 90% of people (100% of windurstians) are going to keep their homepoint in port jeuno so they can here shouts.

Should just combine shout channels for port and lower jeuno, then put another warper there. It's strange that they didn't think of this themselves. It seems like a pretty obvious fix.

Shouts are within a limited range though, I don't think the current system would allow for multi-zone shouting.

They could add a new chat channel, say, party, ls, shout and global. Global heard in all cities, this would totally remove the need to huddle in one area and cause congestion. Having said that ofc maybe they do it by design to give a crowded city area.

I'm stuck. GMs know about it but, they do nothing about it. Sooo. I got the new update Ran to uperjen then. BAAAAAM! All I get now when I log in with my High Lv jobs and all the items I got. I get a black screen with downloading data. 3 min pass then pops a FFXI-3001 Hit OK the Shutdown. Now I don't know why and there are ppl out there that may know how to get out. Well in time I'll get it. and when I do it will be like it never happen. Till then I'm STUCK.

If a new /city chat channel is out of the question, then SE needs to add teleportation NPCs in all major cites to facilitate fast, easy, and cheap travel to Jeuno. I refuse to set my HP outside of Jeuno until this is done, and I'm a guy who would prefer to use the ol' Windurst Woods Home Point.

Asura did not experience a merge, but I think people transfer daily to Asura just to AFK in our Port Jeuno. FFXI locked up on the Downloading Data screen each and every time I warped back to Port Jeuno this past Saturday. 700+ people in zone all day long.

I just think I would be Cool if GMs Agen. Warp all the AFK from Jeuno to a more. Lets see where to. Show them that sometimes AFKing for long time is not the way to spend $12.95 + $1.00 mule. Need to pop at IT at Lv90. hmmm the thinks I can do with nonparty warp. Now where was I. OOO yeah afk suck....

if its possible SE should implement a way to "shout" in an area where you are not in or view shouts in an area you are not it.
ie. you like chilling in bastok markets, you want to see what shouts are in PJ /sea all /shouts port jeuno...
ie. you are in Abyssea (something) need reps, /shout port jeuno blah blah 15/18 dds welcome....
something like that would help with the crowdedness of PJ. probably not possible but i can dream lol
