I have had no problems grinding out 2-4 levels in cooking in a few hours, its alot of .1s but if you have the invenory spaces it goes by fast. I got from 68-72 cooking in 4 hours spamming melon milk.

This is a bit of a derail, but I feel I need to respond....
lol.. cooking is not Goldsmith/Smithing/Woodworking/Alchemy--and are not related to making bullets and arrows. Cooking is also one of the easiest crafts to make--both from available mats, recipes, and reselling options (I have 91 cooking btw).
I can grab a stack of fish, run next door to the the AH and buy remaining mats from the Tenshodo (grow my own rice regularly) and make a few stacks of sushi and flip them right away on the AH, for profit (or at least break even): rinse/repeat. Gathering mats to make ingots to make/desynth rings/earrings/chains, or combine with mats from other crafts (bone/leather/cloth) to make armor pieces takes considerably more effort/time to do--and the skillups sometimes just refuse to come at a steady pace. And the items you are left with simply don't sell like they used to, so you desynth them to recycle some of the mats and recraft them again over and over until you are done. So, you basically wind up just throwing gil at your craft more often with these other crafts than you do with cooking (well, alchemy is an exception as you can make a lot of meds and items used for cooking, but WW, GS, and Smith are at times just big holes to toss your gil into these days). That is more or less why people don't level them and sell stuff on the AH anymore. At least in my circle of friends that is the case--more often the crafting is done for personal use or their friends. More often than not, such crafting is something that won't result in skillups as they are already past the caps for the synths they are doing.
Simply put....people need some incentive to level these crafts now in lesser demand. An enhanced skillup rate is just one tweak many have been asking for.
Back on topic, there are ammo npc's, but they are spread out all over the place and have a very limited selection (ie, who wants to run all the way to nashmua to get the elemental arrows, or ride the boat to buy 1.5 stacks of light cards). Consolidating them into one, or a few standard NPC's would be a help.
