I do the same thing.. kill random elemental's while i'm running about doing magian trial and put on a mule till needed...

I was really interested in why putting crystals into abyssea would be *impossible* storyline wise...

I think sylvane was just tossing a red herring into the argument though... they aren't actually able to point to a specific cutscene or plotline that would make it not possible.

I really just don't know what to tell you. I know crystals originally were tied to conquest. You had to have signet for them to drop, and they wouldn't drop in beastmen controlled areas. I'm not sure what the deal is for ToAU and WotG aside from needing sanction and sigil for crystals to drop for no real reason. So sure, one can argue the only reason crystals drop in ToAU and WotG areas is for the sake of keeping crystal supply up, so why not Abyssea.

It's either because A)SE is trying to keep us in other areas of the game, or B)because there's a story element that most if not all of us have forgotten because A)we didn't care to begin with, and B)it's been so long since we've been through the lore that we forgot. I'm with B btw, cause I'm pretty sure lore prevents crystals from dropping in Abyssea if for no other reason than because Abyssea is not Vana'diel and as such things happened differently there. They never got the chance to create a conquest system and cast magical seals of their nations called signet onto people to compete in conquest and since crystals dropping are tied to this system then there is no good reason for Abyssea to do the same. The beastmen dominate Abyssea. They control it hook line and sinker. With this logic we never should have gotten crystals in toAu and WotG but perhaps those places have their own lore and reasoning that I am forgetting. I will admit ToAU was something I spammed the enter key because of long boring assed cut scenes with a little girl and her puppets and a mithra with a PMS problem the size of China, long NPC text, and the desire to play catch up, and as far as WotG goes I am almost certain there is jack about why crystals drop with sigil only(I remember it being sigil only anyway)

With conquest you'd think crystals are magically created and drops thanks to your signet effect. Yet because of WotG that is during the crystal war that can't be true. Conquest didn't exist back then. So it's like, wait a minute. What? Why is it crystals will not drop unless you have a special effect on you?

Either way it's for the best that crystals do not drop in Abyssea. It gives you a reason to hunt in Vana'diel. But hey, it seems just about anyone can ask for anything and get it these days so long as it's a quick adjustment so keep on screaming for it. I'm sure SE will give in just so you don't have to spend 30 minutes of your precious time farming 10+ clusters in Sky. I was farming them before Abyssea so I'm not even affected in the least by crystal supply.
