19-90 jobs.
i agree with rog though, how do you only use 100 slots? that is 2-3 jobs with overlaping gear.
I do not think 100 is enough of 2 independent jobs.
anyways now that this is on new page can a rep give us more insight on how safe thse slips are and what that message means?
Lets say you have an item with a "stats" field that's 8 bytes (64 bits). You also have an item with another "type" field that's one byte (8 bits, a number between 0 and 255). If you set the "type" field to the number 11, you interpret the "stat" field as a bit-by-bit list of equipment pieces that you have or don't. If it's a 10, you interpret the "stat" field as, say, 1 byte for base damage followed by 2 bytes for delay, etc.
I don't know why, but for some reason they choose to do it this way instead of entirely storing the information server-side and just providing an interface to a server-based database through the NPC. Perhaps they're trying to minimize the amount of information that has to travel between server and client. Think about it. Our storage has always worked this way. The "set" key items from the previous were just essentially markers that the NPCs could read so they'd know which sets to offer you for withdrawing.
You transmit and re-load your item list / jobs / stats and your inventory as an update to the server after a set amount of time has elapsed or when you zone. Anyone who remembers slipping backwards levels or losing drops during the dDOS attacks (when they weren't able to execute this as often) knows this. I think they generally try to keep things player-side. They wouldn't need any extra server communication to handle porter moogle slips after loading them when you zone in (cost = the same as a normal item).
By the way, SE, you could do the same thing with Atma/Abyssites. Condensing all those key items into a single item may give us the ability to autotranslate key items back. Or at least condense them into one key item if we get Atma of the Savior. >;/ That would make it worthwhile to get.
its really scary that i can just toss one item and poof! 1 year and a few months of dynamis work is all gone... but i'm having a hard time with space right now, and the fact that i can now just get all the AF1s that i've been missing, enjoy the story attached to it, AND hoard as much relics, nyzul armor, campaign equip, and AF3 nq items without having to worry about running out of space just excites me. If anything i wish that i could store job emote neck pieces and other random things too.
its scary that i can lose all that stuff in an instant, but the freedom that having the porter moogle gives me is worth the danger
If you are clinging on to those moogle slips for dear life in fear of losing your gear or hesitant to utilize this awesome storage system because it seems unsafe, fear not!
Once you store an item on a specific slip you will be unable to throw that slip away (you will get a “that request cannot be processed” message if you attempt to).
Due to this, the message given when you receive a storage slip for the first time is indeed quite strange.
There is virtually no way to lose these slips once you have equipment stored away, so rest assured this system put together by the moogles is super safe.

Will it be safe when servers merge?
