Reduced month fee for life ($9.99 a month) and up to 40 characters at no additional fee. A special chocobo mount and our names in the credits. Nothing too incredibly major but ppl are really upset about not getting Legacy even though the requirements were repeated over and over again for months. These are the same ppl who either want Legacy even though they did not meet the requirements or want our data wiped. Seriously have no idea what the big deal is over a choco and $3 a month. They are also sequestering Legacy members to certain servers so new and fresh start players will be on an even playing field at launch.

Everyone who played 1.x regardless of whether they are legacy or not will also retain all of their inventory (minus items such as arrows or other items no longer in the game), levels and 10% of their gil.

I can understand complaints, at the same time, it seems like nothing kept is to major for me to get worked up about personally. I do think that the discount thing could be annoying after some time, because I feel like you deserve a veterancy price on any MMO after a time, paying the same price for this game after a decade seems stupid to me, but either way.

Though, what is it with people that think they need something because others have it, and it was a limited time offer to spark interest in the future of FFXIV. At the end of the day, your paying a company for access to a service and the data you create belongs to them, they can do what they want with it and can terminate service as they see fit.

Limited time offers are often things to suck money out of people for things in game, which is often thought to be just another way for companies to make more money off something intentionally left out of the game for others, which annoys people. Kinda like that weapon for Mass Effect 3 I never got access to, something valuable from my arsenal of things to use, that was forever lost just because I did not want to buy the game from Gamestop, but rather, bought it at Best Buy. I have no problem with things in games being limited to people for a limited time, that is fine, but to be a truly limited offer meaning that if you do not get it in a limited time or in a limited way that you may never receive it, that annoys me.

My BF started playing XIV very skeptical, he played WoW and hated it, played XI and hated it.

Now he can't stop talking about XIV. He's seriously as obsessed as most of the 920,000 BETA testers. The vast majority thoroughly enjoying the game, telling SE to "take their money"
Yes, almost 1 million testers and not even in an open BETA. So for those thinking XIV isn't the new hot thing that you're going to be hearing about for many years you can think again.

and BTW, I've done up to all the level 32 Dungeons in XIV, all 7 of them, and there's already more strategy in each fight than in XI, or WoW combined, and level 15-45 dungeons are still considered beginner dungeons.

In one of the 15 dungeons, you have to push a level to spawn a bomb, then drag it over a slime and make it explode, but if you stay in range when it blows it does 9999 dmg, each time the bomb explodes on the slime it splits until you have 8 small ones which you can then sleep> kill.

That's the 1st mini-boss in the 1st dungeon in game, I got to 90 on WoW and never saw something like that.

Why would that bother you though, when only the claimer and there party members will get any loot, and you all get exp.
Better that all get credit for monsters killed than sit and watch one player kill, then wait for re-spawn and fight to claim.

Also, you get 40 character slots with eight characters per server for that 9.99.

After all, FFXI was not broken at the time, why fix it?

Instead, they rebuilt the game which did fail due to the people in charge messing it up, and now, it looks like a good and promising game, I have no doubt there are many others like yourself, but in my opinion, at least play the beta or something free of it if you can, try it out, what do you have to lose but a little time? On the other hand, what do you have to gain if it is a good game, and FFXI dies? A new home, with potentially many of the friends you once knew on here, or another world of Final Fantasy in which to dive into and experience with people all around the world. In my opinion, the gain far outweighs the risks involved.
