As the OP mentioned the Galkas climb a mountain when they're old and then they're basically reborn when they descend. This is also mentioned in the Bastok mission storyline I believe when you're in the quicksand cave.

As for Tarutaru, I personally think they are dropped from the sky by storks! That's where babies come from IRL.
