Empyreans were definitely ahead for a while, but that's basically my point.

The last time a particular type of ultimate weapon pulled ahead, it was evened out by the time we reached the new long-term level cap. Relics and Mythics became much stronger from 90-99, while Empyreans just gained base damage and a few stat points. This is a pretty strong indicator that the Development Bros intend for all types of ultimate weapons to be roughly even, in spite of not always realizing what makes a weapon-skill good or bad.

On the other hand, the Magian trials with the rising level caps made adjusting ultimate weapons a lot easier back then. I have no idea how that kind of balancing would or could be handled now. They'd probably just make the crazy guy who made Evoliths and Cloudsplitter do it, unfortunately, because he lives in the building's ventilation system so overtime is not an issue.

If anything I'd start buying currency, because unless Adoulin at launch is a wotg-level bait and switch (which it might end up being, who knows with this game), there will hopefully be enough interesting things to do to siphon a few people off the two hour a day Dynamis grind and prices will subsequently go up.

But yeah, generally speaking I think a (good) relic will continue to be a safe investment. Biggest question is whether Adoulin content will provide new ways to aquire weapon currency of various types.

There are 4 expansions, 3 types of super weapons, 1 super weapon category was released with Abyssea, an Add-on. So that leaves 2, so your information is incorrect.

I missed the part where the shield and horn weren't considered Relics, you know 1 of the 3 current types (Relic, Mythic, and Empyrean).

As to the question of getting a Relic now or waiting. Why wait? I mean it's not like Relics suddenly became more powerful/useful then they were at 75 when compared to the alternatives of the time. The only exceptions I can think of is Ragnarok and the only reason that went from LOL to Awesome is because of Resolution.

Umm, I said Abyssea was an add-on, and the Empyrean weapons themselves were added with Abyssea, no matter where trials started out, they were just another weapon until the level 80 versions came into play, at which point the Moogles actually call them Empyrean Weapons and they were each given unique forms. At 85 is when they became actual super weapons, because they had a WS all to their own as well as aftermaths, two features all super weapons share. Before Abyssea they were simply high Damage weapons, nothing more, it is Abyssea which made them super weapons, and for that exact reason you can not really say Empyrean Weapons came from WotG. As such, your claim is incorrect. Also, SE has stated they have no current intentions on releasing a new form of super weapon, besides that, what would the weapons even be like?

Relics improve attack and accuracy as well as provide aftermaths which enhance a stat valuable to the weapon or jobs, and an additional effect. Mythics enhancing a specific jobs abilities or traits, while offering a verity of aftermaths depending on the TP at which the corresponding WS is used. Empyrean weapons give you a double damage aftermath as well as a powerful WS which its stats specifically enhance. So if they were to make new weapons, one would have to ask, what would this one enhance? What strengths would it play to? We already have one for attacking, one for abilities/traits, and one for WSing. The only thing left I can think of, is magic, but not all jobs have magic, so it would be quite unfair to add such a category of weapons if some jobs are completely left out due to lacking the natural tools.

There's not likely much else you can spend a ton of gil on other than an empyrean or mythic or <insert new superwepons likely debuting in SoA).

I sure would like to know what you do that makes money faster than dynamis- because I can't think of anything. Crafting sure doesn't anymore. The only other things that can make much money that I can think of are voidwatch sellables (gear, HMPs, riftdross/cinder), Meeble sellables, ABCs, and alexandrite.

I do salvage every day, alex sells for a lot. I do einherjar every day, sell those items as well. I do meebles whenever I have tags and thus sell those items.

I don't know why but soloing dynamis just isn't fun, but I can stand doing salvage and einherjar, or meebles and not drive myself insane.

I went ahead and bought out all the currency I needed for ragnarok I had a lot of saved gil, due to long wait periods between currency turn ins probably be like Tuesday before I get my Ragnarok. Wanted to spend some of my gil on something that could be fun to play around with.

I kinda wanted to play FF14 but its not out yet, more maybe when it comes out and this could be a last thing I make for FFXI I just didn't want to leave FFXI With tons of unspent gil. If FF14 isn't that great or don't find people to play with ill probably be back to do more empyreans or whatever.
