i have a super computer, and who cares whos computer is super duper can bake a cake and serve me beer, im looking to get a backup PC just to play the game so me and my wife can stop fighting over it when we want to play something. Your post has shown a lot of attitude and a large sense of immaturity, showing off or claiming you have a PC that is uber, unfortunately it doesnt really matter. So its pretty obvious you "dont" know if these updates exist then and your just flopping your mouth around acting like you know a lot.
Lemme bring a few Games over and just see how "good" that PC is, i Promise you wont be able to run 3 or 4 of them without taking it down to low.
Problems with the "PS2 >>> X360" 'solution'
1) Cost: XBox 360 costs some US$300.
2) Connection: XBox does not support dial-up internet. PS2 does. This matters because there are *gasp!* still some locations where neither DSL nor cable internet is available.

Adoulin is installed but still not lighting up on your title screen? Here's what to do:
Go to https://secure.square-enix.com/account/app/svc/login?cont=account and log in, then Select Service >>> PlayOnline / FINAL FANTASY XI >>> Add a service account (blue button) >>> input expansion software registration code.

The reason SE won't drop ps2 support is because the second largest player base in Japan is on the ps2 platform. The Xbox 360 has the smallest player base in Japan. To just out right drop support would alienate atleast 40-50% of the Japanese player base, and probably 30% of the world wide player base. These are far from solid numbers, more or less just a loose guess. And rebuilding the game from the ground up to make it run on ps3 just isn't financially feasible. Atleast not since they spent all that money trying to make 14.
As much as I would like to see the game break the bonds imposed by the ps2, unfortunately from SE's perspective they may see that there is too much to lose for too little gain. Especially since current subscribers would pretty munch demand free upgrades for being forced into making the switch or quit entirely rather than buying new copies of the game. So really, the cost would out weigh the benefit.
I have all three current versions of the game so a loss of ps2 support would be of minimal concern to me, all my comments are business based with no console bias involved. I am also a proud ps3 owner.
I myself have 2x 360's and 1 laptop and a desktop. I dual box my wife and I with my xbox, I play my other account on pc while she lays up in bed playing her account on her xbox. Though Id prefer to be lazy some days to and not have to sit in front of a desk, but when your gonna PL your own characters, left trigger right trigger and (A) is just simple enough when locked on /follow or macro for /ma "Cure" "Character name" ... its what i did for my wife and I that way it eliminates the d-pad toggle, especially in a party, since she is working on WAR and im the back up WAR. The only problem ive ever had with the original 360, since I own a 360-slim now, is my first 360 while in whitegate participating in ... oh whats it called when the mobs rush whitegate ... memory fart... anyway during that my xbox froze and I had to restart it. That only happened once, and my cousin who use to play on his ps2... well i could make a list.. but im sure its all been said. I've heard it enough from him, so in a way i understand the ps2 issues having heard them from family. Its really a matter of player preference. I prefer the 360 over pc, does that stop me from playing on pc.. no.. does hinder a bit between using the controller over a keyboard when it comes down to using the macros. Kind of slight delay between pressing CTRL or ALT on keyboard before the macro window shows up, but other then that im fine with using either system. Thats just my .02.
