Notice how the Crags are gone and the Beastmen's main fortresses all sit on top of the Crystal Line? If the Emptiness devoured the Crags, then one could theorize it traveled down the Line and did a number on them too. Not to mention that Giddeus, Fort G., and Pal. Mines are most likely completely gone or at least cut off from the part of Abyssea we can access. Now, yeah that doesn't explain why there are NO Yags/Orcs/Quads left. It would only explain a serious reduction in their population.
It could simply be explained by a divergent history where the Allied Forces managed to completely annihilate the Beastmen to the point of genocide. Maybe something else wiped them out. I guess we need an official Abyssea historical timeline, but I'm pretty sure that's not in the pipes.
Agreed. I'm only on like mission 14 but the first time they showed her I was like "The names are similar and they kind of look alike" and with the younger version of her and her...situation with her family. It was kind of easy to see what happened; the rest of it was just filler which is why I haven't finished it yet though I will eventually. But anyway, it would be nice if they expanded more deeply into the abyssea lore. Basically all we know is that Promathia won and wrecked the place; would be nice to know exactly all that happened.
I thought the quests in the zones expanded that a little with the extreme walls of text. I could be wrong, though. I think the events in the Abyssea questlines happen within a month of our abyssean counterparts wiping to Promathia.
highlight for spoiler
Doesn't Promathia absorb Sel'theus then becomes Shinryu?
Yes, that's what happened and changed his appearence.
And they do expand on how it happened. But they don't really expand on what all happened. Kind of get what I mean? We know how we got to that point in the dimension but not everything inbetween.
So where does ocarina of time and a link to the past fit into the timeline?
Why can't the beastmen just be chillin' in their fortresses, which we can't access in Abyssea?
More seriously, maybe the Quadav, Yagudo, and Orcs were killed by the Abyssean hordes?
After all, those Gigas, Tonberries, and Goblins are parts of the Abyssean hordes. They respawn at higher levels and at faster rates as they're killed, which is the definitive trait of the horde monsters according to NPCs.
Considering there aren't any normal monsters in Abyssea, I assume that the hordes killed all normal monsters, at least in the areas we can visit.
Also, there are Qiqirn in Abyssea.
Some of the goblins are worshippers of Promathia (CoP quests and missions make this clear). Promathia won. The Yagudo and Quadav have their own gods and the Orcs worship demons. The goblins were spared, the Yagudo, Orcs, and Quadav were not. That doesn't explain the continued existence of Tonberries though. I guess not all of them were worshippers of Uggalepih? The CoP Tonberries were different from the other Tonberries; for one thing, they didn't use Everyone's Grudge. I'd guess that some of the Tonberries weren't Uggalepih fanatics and converted to Promathia to be spared.
