They probably wouldn't be fully able to concentrate on work atm even if they were open.
I don't think a lot of people realize just how bad the situation is..
they can listen to numbers and death toll etc.. but they don't comprehend just how bad it is.
I'd be surprised if they have it up by the 22nd.. just give them a chance to fix their country.(0)

If anything they know as little as we do...
I'm not sure how a video game company is suppose to be experts on the power grid situation.
All they can do is forward information they get from the power company.(0)

@Flunklesnarkin if is really how they gonna face this crisis (Watching/analyzing) until it end, then i guess we can call it game over for FFXI.

03-19-2011 05:26 AM #117There have been thousands of posts arguing over this issue. Cem's is a more formal request for a more detailed update--not likely to spark the flame wars going on in other threads. If everyone would just /sign it and keep it civil, perhaps it will get some results.

i think everyone has the wrong idea about what's going on at square. from what i've gathered reading their official posts, they don't HAVE to shut down the servers. they still have power. the japanese government asked people to conserve electricity. as square said in one of their announcements they feel socially obligated to shut them down. it wasn't because they don't have the power to run them. it's because they want to help. they stopped looking at things in a business perspective and started looking at things from a human perspective. their friends and family and neighbors are suffering and to ease the burden of those around them they shut down their servers in a bid to comply with the governments request. nowhere have i read any official word that they don't have power. when they say they are re-evaluating the situation i take it to mean that they are evaluating whether they feel running business as usual would place too much of a burden on the countries limited supplies. but all this is just my take on things from the official announcements i've read.
