I merely shared my discontent with the situation. So all you fanboys keep posting and aiming at me. Check this out... I gear swap and believe in haste gear as well.

He's going to be flamed, and I'm going to be flamed. But as soon as the servers were taken down, people should have been on the phone with alternative hosting sites seeing how quickly they could be set up and ready to receive data. Instead, in complete disregard for standard disaster planning and recovering, SE decides to sit on their thumbs.
And the name was available. How could I not take it? Of course they can link it to my account. But when I made it last week I had the intention of posting in some of the GLORIOUS threads you guys have here. But I didn't want the level of general... what's the word here... let's just call it the "special" way the majority of the posters here think and approach the game... to follow me in game. My point is still valid. Something could have been done and wasn't. Nor will there be anything done. So why should we wait for another month? Have you seen the news? Do you not see how bad it really is? Do you really think the power supply will be stable on the 22nd.? Really? Hahahahaaaaaaaa
the power will not be stable on the 22nd and maybe we will have to wait another long time, end of april perhaps...
anyway, this is an exceptional situation and the country is involved to keep the power for other things more important than a videogame, I don't care if I have to wait a month or two, I'll wait and I'll be back when servers will go up again...
it's worth to wait for FF.
The fact that you would compare people being offended by your lack of understanding for a country during a time of national crisis where people's lives are being lost to bickering over virtual equipment in a video game speaks volumes about you as a person. You don't know what people are going through over there, yet you feel like you have the right to instruct them in how to handle it. How some people can convince themselves that a company's sole purpose is to be as inefficient as possible and irritate its income base as much as they can is beyond me. I'm willing to take a guess that SE is being hit by not opening the servers just a little bit harder than you are and would like to start making money off this again. They are making a sacrifice. The idea that they are choosing to "sit on their thumbs" instead of continue making money is quite a stretch.
to quit because of a two extra days delay is your choice, but if you knew you were going to get flamed, why post in the first place? you expect people to follow you and quit?
As for SE 'sitting on their thumbs', I think their donation sure did a lot more than anything any of us could do for Japan right now.
Thanks for the update SE, cheers to you guys and your good efforts.

The thing is, they ARE choosing to sit on their thumbs instead of relocate servers and continue making money. You know why a 2 week downtime is unheard of in the MMO industry? It's because the vast majority of players, the non-hardcore, non-fanboy base has an incredibly short attention span. They want their entertainment when they want it. If it isn't there, they go looking somewhere else. When they find it at the new place, they realize "Hey, this is pretty good, and the xyz is even a lot better!"
I figure after a week you'd have 98% returns, only the people who were already letting their sub expire would be leaving. After two weeks you have bored people trying out WoW, Rift, etc for their MMO fix. Now you're dropping to a 90% return rate. Every week you're going to be dropping a little more of your paying base. This means that by doing nothing, they're destroying the population of the returning players, and in turn not only losing out on profits for the month of April, but losing more and more as time goes on.
Again, this goes directly against disaster recovery and planning as it is taught at nearly any college in the country.

On a similar note, the game will be much more fun to play with all the selfish, non-caring idiots quitting because of this tragedy. I just hope that the workers can get the nuclear plant under control soon--I know people that live not very far from that area. Luckily, everyone I know that lives in Japan and the other East-Pacific countries have checked in and are doing okay, considering the circumstances.
Take your time, SE. The people of Japan need that power more than we need a game at the moment.
