FFXI will be back online in 2 months

It is not a speculation, it is a fact and game wont be back before end of April UNLESS SE has a plan B. The power outages are expected to last at least until the end of April to pare the supply shortfall of 25% affecting most of TEPCO’s service areas/prefectures, especially when the plan of using elect. power supply from SW Japan (Unaffected by EQ) providers has been said hardly feasable.

Its not a first for TEPCO. In 2007 TEPCO limited the power supply, when their nuclear power plant in Kashiwazaki was shut down. However, the measure only applied to big corporate users, and it was only for 150,000 to 200,000 Kilowatts. Today they are talking an approx. 10 MIL KW!!! So if back in 2007 it took TEPCO 22 months to put Kashiwazaki plant back online...I'd even say whoever is looking forward towards End of April FFXI comeback is an "optimist"...No...more of a day dreamer

PS: Hope SE have been considering the option of relocating their servers (Thats what several Japanese Govt agencies did).

You dont think a big company like SE has a plan b? No big corp. would want to take any kind of a profit cut for that long. Think about this as if you owned the company, You are going to do whatever it takes to get your product back and running asap. It might be another week or so but it will be up way befor the end of april.

True Rocman, I can't but agree more with you. BUT again when its business, its all about figures and turnover. So if SE/FFXI users outside Japan does not cover the relocation of services, then it will not be an option. Besides, if we are to think about the fair play policy of SE lol, that option wouldn't be fair to ower fellow Japanese player who would still be suspended untill Japan can stand back up on its feet.

Regardless, two, three or four months... that was just a technical reply to those hoping to the original post and the speculations. Between the game and a whole country that slept to wake up on such a calamitous disaster!!! I'd say who cares about the game.

People seem to forget, that only the eastern bit of Japan was affected. I don't think they can just walk into the building, and all work together to lift a machine and move it to another location. But I assume they'll find a way and go out far enough so that they will be able to resume buisness, or even have the servers in California primed for gameplay. While they want to help their country, how much else will they be able to donate if they start to rot because the games are turned off? And with other countries hurrily trying to move in things to help with the power shortage and to repair the cooling systems for the reactors so that we all don't die from radiation? Things will be done as quickly as they can without too much risk.

Um its not a FACT until SE tells us they wont be able to bring the servers up for 2 months.. until official word is heard its SPECULATION.. japan also needs to keep there economy going as best they can you know.
