    Platform: Windows
    ISP: Comcast internet

    Internet Connection Speed: Fast
    Date & Time: 4:00 pm 4/3/2012

    Steps:
    1. I was working on staff trial 848 calling for ice kills on bomb type mobs.
    2. I noticed that i was only getting credit for 1 kill when there was double and single ice weather.
    3. Then i checked the day it was Darksday, i killed 5 more snoll's during weather same result 1 kill each.
    4. then i called a GM and he sent me a message that he cant help me.
    5. i then called SE on the phone and they pointed me here. that is all.

it's been over a year since I did my ice staves at that stage (before they made a LOT of tweaks to them), so I'm a bit foggy on the details, but you may not get credit for weather on that trial, as there is no day/weather requirement in the trial--it's just kill with 50+ ice damage.

It does not say ice weather and it does not require it either. You won't get any bonus on ice day or weather, you can do it at any time. And hence ice weather will also not give any additional points. That's working as intended, unless you mean a different trial number.

I did this trial several times and it never worked that way for me, nor is it supposed to. You may be remembering wrong or mixing up trials. 848 is definitely not related to ice weather at all.

my friend on the same server just said that we did not get 5 a kill ever but when the weather was gone it did not give us credit for the kill so something is still wrong with it

Trial 848 is not an ice day/weather trial--it states:

Trial: Deal the finishing blow to a set number of experience-yielding monsters with the prescribed elemental attack.

    Objective: 150 arcana-type creatures.

Attack: Ice damage of 50 points or greater.

    Equipment: Teiwaz must be equipped.

■Finishing blow may come from any prescribed elemental source in the party, including avatars.
According to some posted details on the trials, you get the extra kills for weather on the day/weather trials, but not necessarily on the others.
■Defeating a given number of a specific type of experience-yielding monster during one particular type of weather effect OR its corresponding day. (e.g. kills either during wind weather or on Windsday). As of the September 2010 update, successful kills with weather present (single or double) will count as 5, while the appropriate day counts as one. For example, killing one monster on ice day during ice weather will give a total of 6 points.
■Killing enemies while the appropriate weather is active gives credit for 5 kills.
■Killing enemies during the appropriate day gives credit for 1 kill.
■If weather and day are present, you get credit for 6 kills per enemy.
■Scholar's -storm spells (Rainstorm, Thunderstorm, etc...) will not give credit toward weather-specific trials; the weather must be naturally occurring.

    {Edited unrelated details]

■Using an elementally specific status ailment on a specific type of experience-yielding monster. The ailment must be present upon death, but does not have to be inflicted by the person on the trial.
■Using an elementally specific Magic Damage on a specific type of experience-yielding monster. The Damage amount will vary with each trial. It does not have to be inflicted by the person on the trial. Elemental WS's will count towards this credit.
■Your weapon must possess the appropriate trial inscription
***NOTE the wiki lists the same info under Magian Trials or the Category:Trial_of_the_Magians pages

These objectives are listed seperately, implying you are not necesarily going to get bonus credit when weather is present. This distinction is also made on the BG pages, which is often the source for a lot of the wiki pages:
4.Defeat a quantity of a type or family of monsters that yield experience points with the item equipped. Further restrictions may apply:
Defeat a quantity of a type or family of monsters that yield experience points in a specific weather type and/or on a specific day of the Vana'diel week.
Defeat a quantity of a type or family of monsters that yield experience points in one of several weather conditions.
Monsters killed during the appropriate weather are worth 5 kills, monsters killed on the appropriate day are worth 1 kill, monsters killed during the appropriate day and weather are worth 6 kills.
Scholar's Storm spells do not count for weather trials, only the weather inherent in the zone will give credit.
The weather or day must be present when the monster dies, should the weather or day change while you are fighting the mob, you will not get credit if you slay it. This can be used to your advantage if you can hold several enemies at low health while waiting for the correct weather to appear.
For these trials, it is often beneficial to check the weather in advance and make sure that the season is correct for the weather that you want.
Defeat a quantity of a type or family of monsters that yield experience points with a specific elemental damage.
The elemental damage must be equal to or greater than the number specified by the Moogle. (50 damage, 150 damage, 250 damage, etc.)
The elemental damage does not have to be generated from a spell or by the person who is doing the trial. Monsters killed with elemental weaponskills or elemental blood pact damage will give credit for the trial.
It is also not noted on the trial 848 page that users started getting extra kill credit after the Sept. 2010 update either, whereas it is specifically noted on the day/weather trials. On your PREVIOUS trial 843 (amorphs, on ice day or in ice weather) , you would have gotten extra credit for weather, because that was a day/weather trial. Perhaps that is confusing you a bit. This one now has a different objective, that appears (according to the information out there) to not give extra credit from weather.

As mentioned earlier, I did mine before these tweaks, so don't know for certain if that is true...but according to what is posted out there, it would appear that the weather bonus does not apply on these particular trials.
