    Trumpy,

    Yes, that is pretty much what I was trying to say.

    Perhaps I worded it a bit badly, but yeah, if you have installed and registered FINAL FANTASY XI, PlayOnline, and Rise of the Zilart, then you have access to each and every area used for the add-ons: A Crystalline Prophecy, A Shantotto Ascension, A Moogle Kupo d'Etat.

    For the Abyssea add-ons, one needs to have FINAL FANTASY XI, PlayOnline, and Rise of the Zilart, as well as the Wings of the Goddess expansions registered, and installed.

    That's what I meant that their content is downloaded/updated as long as the required expansion(s) are installed (and registered).

    As for the "download program" you mention, I don't know what you are referring to.
    A downloaded installer from a retailer, you mean?

    One would need to purchase that for it to be legit, no doubt. ^^;

    There is no (legitimate) way to obtain the install data for the expansions other than to actually install them from a disc or from the downloadable service you got the game from.

    Downloading the data from a torrent or other source would be legit too, just not supported by SE. (For FFXIV, this is actually supported by SE.)

    I would imagine for XIV it goes for the updates only.

    As far as I know, there is no legit way to download the actual client and related data via torrent, as Alhanelem pointed out too, for either game.

    If you have a source for this information, please, do share. ^^

    I can't even start to imagine them to allow legit download of the actual client(s) from unofficial sources, as it would mean less copies of the game bought. That is from a certain point of view, as those who would do it would very likely do it regardless but if I imagine that they officially advertised it to be OK, I think more would certainly goferit cause well, package that costs money versus a freebie? Yeah...

    Considering it's against the User Agreement to even loan (or otherwise transmit the software) the game disks to a friend (excluding cases with 'Buddy Passes'), how would this be OK? Or is that what you mean that with 'non-supported'?

    Not to start a discussion about piracy here since for one, the thread will be likely closed if it ever gets an official response, but in any case, it could be our definitions of 'legit' differ a little. ^^;

    Mainly just wondering what makes you think the opposite?

    SE doesn't make money from the files themselves, but from the keys needed to access the content and monthly payments to maintain your character. You can obtain them any way you want, the game won't work unless you paid SE.

    This is why you are not allowed to share your ACCOUNT with others.

    (Side note, copyright infringement is not the same as piracy. Piracy is the propaganda term used to make the matter look worse then it actually is. But that discussion is for another forum
