It's not the one cut that matters moreso the multiple cuts that slowly erode the base.

With any other product and company you might be right but this is a 8+ year old MMORPG that is hemorrhaging it's player base, and has been for the last 4-5 years. Couple that with the fact that FFXI is one of the few reliable sources of income for SE and yes, people who complain and quit will definitely "cut into the company's bottom line".
